I love Menards. There, I said it. Scoff if you must.Just beware the Menards Time Warp Effect (or is that affect?) You walk in, and the next thing you know it's 3 hours later when you're walking out.

Lets begin at the beginning: I have yet to meet one store employee who even remotely acted as though they wanted to help. They all, and I do mean all, act as though you are a bother and a nuisance to look for any type of customer service. This also includes management. I can cite numerous examples, but there's simply not enough space.I recently purchased a gas powered edger. Upon getting it home we discovered it didn't really work for us, I mean it worked and ran just fine, we did not like the way it edged. I took it back the very next day for a refund and, after being told I was rude, I learned Menards policy for refunding any gas powered device was not acceptable Would have been nice to have some sort of notice posted, but that would mean less sales. I was out $220.I did learn that Home Depot and Lowes DID REFUND GAS powered!!What Menards really needs is a big box store as competition.I will make the drive anywhere to avoid giving one more penny to this place.Oh yeah, regarding the 11% rebate, which takes up to 12 weeks to get issued, why not just reduce all prices by 11%?It's very possible that other Menards locations are different and there's just something in the water in Ottumwa.

Went into Menards on my lunch break to do an exchange. Went to the returns counter and the cashier was standing and talking to another employee about non-work related topics. She and the other employee stared at me, no greeting and no sign of intention to help me out. I eventually took my item into the store with receipt to find the item I wanted to exchange. Once found, I returned to the service counter where Jolea and her coworker remained in the same spot unwilling to help or greet me but kept staring at me. Once I said “hey I need to get this exchanged” Jolea came to assist me with an attitude. She is majorly lacking customer service skills and shouldn’t be at the service counter if she’s unwilling to be kind and helpful.

Tasha in guard shack is the most respectful worker you have here she helped me when I got stuck at the gate and was able to make me laugh you need more employees like her. Shes always smiling and always has a great attitude towards the customers

Nice to visit and purchase Household items needed for a project on a Sunday. The store is particularly slow. I like the wide isles and friendly service. Also can’t BEAT THE 11% rebate

I am your stereo, typical girl who knows nothing about housing repairs or anything like that so going into Menards gives me SERIOUS ANXIETY, as I don’t know where I’m going what I’m looking for and how to get to it. So, when I walk through those doors I instantly search for a employee, they are supposed to be there to assist customers. I tried to get the attention of the cart girl, but she just ignored me as she continued to be talking or something. If I had to guess she had those ear bud things in. What kind of employers allow that? I mean think of the safety issues, not to mention clearly the improper customer service. Well, here goes nothing, went in to the store. Asked an associate where plumbing department was she points to the right of the store and says in the middle. Ok then, I finally find the area I need. But of course I can’t find the item. Walk up and down some isles to find another associate. The young lady came over took a quick look and said that she didn’t see it. Then proceeded to talking on her headset, then just walked away. So, now what? Like can you help me with a alternative…. stranded and confused. Then I went to look for something else asked again for assistance again they just pointed me in a direction. Maybe I am old school because when I worked retail you were ALWAYS supposed to walk the customer to the item and answer any questions they might have. Make sure the customer is valued. I am ready to scream and cry I go over to that direction as I have no clue where I’m going. No luck. Ask dark haired lady in tools for thermostat cover. She stops mid walk and says go look over in plumbing, and walks off. Seriously plumbing? Why would that be in plumbing I ask myself??? And I was just there, and the associate didn’t help. Now you want me to go back. At this point I am over it. And the employees are not there to help you. I choose to go up to lightning and ask a lady stalking bulbs. As she exhales loudly she says it should be few isles over and continues to unbox. At this point I tell her no one is helping me. She walks over to the shelf and puts bulbs up (clearly that’s priority). I follow this lady in hopes to find the item, to have her take me to plumbing AGAIN. The same young lady is standing behind her counter with another woman. So, I explain what I need regarding the thermostat. She says no we don’t have that. The other lady says “check Amazon they have everything” and went on with their conversation. Just like that they were done with me. Of course I could check Amazon, but I needed it now. Amazon at least has a quick search ability. I probably talk to over seven associates today and not one of them was kind courtesy or had ability to help me the way I needed help to find what I needed. We wonder why so many stores close. Because getting help is impossible. Things like this was my dads job, trying to tackle it myself is frustrating enough. Not having the ability to have my dad help me anymore is hard enough. As I sit in the parking lot in tears of frustration and defeat. Not having the items I needed because the employees wouldn’t help. I went to Amazon and ordered what I needed.

The best customer service from Rob. He was completely knowable on all parts, doors building maters etc. Help me complete my large purchase of home repair items faster than I have ever done. Amazing what a little help can do. Only at Menards. Small can be better! Than you Rob.

Inventory was off by a little bit. Showed 164 pieces of lumber in the dimensions that I needed but only had 3 damaged pieces. But the staff was super friendly, helpful and informative. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. Just don't trust the app.

Staff are always friendly and willing to help. If someone doesn't know the answer to my questions, they are always quick to find me someone who does without excessive waiting. They don't always carry quite as much of an in store selection as the bigger box stores, like Lowe's or Home Depot, but the online order and pickup option and the friendly, no pressure atmosphere is worth the small inconvenience this causes.

After buying a washer & Dryer today, I had to wait 45 minutes for them to bring it down. I get it home, which is 30 minutes away, just to find out they loaded the wrong washer. Had to drive back 30 minutes each way to get to exchange it. Then when I get there I have to go back in the store and get a pink slip to re-enter the gates for my exchange, only to find out I can't enter the first gate with the pink slip. Had to back out and enter the second gate. I get from the man, things happen. And to top it off it's started to sleet. Not sure if I will shop at this store again. Very disappointed.

They had everything I needed. The place was big and had so many different things. Food, clothes, toys and everything you could ever need for fixing up your home. Even for black friday it wasn't too busy.The layout changed a bit but it's still a great place to get your shopping done.

I like Menards but things are so darn hard to find everything is so spread out! And to be honest some of their prices are getting outrageous! If they could tackle these problems I might shop there more but until they do when I'm having a bad day and it's just so hard for me to walk around to find exactly what I need! I have good feet and good legs and don't mind spending an hour or two looking for what you want then all Menards are perfect for you!

Why is there not another way to receive rebates with on line purchase? I had to go to the library and email it, to print off a receipt.Then fill out the rebate.and mail it in.This prossess has to be done with every on line purchase. Please would it be that hard to give us a purchase receipt with our package purchased online.? Otherwise the staff and ease of purchase and pickup was super

Found everything I needed to convert a Jet Ski trailer to a motorcycle trailer. I had already bought wheel chocks elsewhere for securing motorcycles front wheel. Menards has a great veriety of building supplies, tools, petfood and supplies, gardening supplies, yard ponds, trees, plants, and flowers. Even a grocery section and home appliances and mattresses.

From the time that I enter the door til the time I leave, the staff were very friendly & helpful. The went out of their way to make sure I found everything I was looking for. And also didn't make me or my wife feel dumb for not knowing the name of some of the supplies we were looking for.They got a great 👍 👌 team there.Definitely a 5 star 🌟

Went to look at a mower that is easy to use for an older person. There were several to choose from but none really met my needs. The salesperson suggested I try a local store that has a bigger selection. That's impressive!

Was overcharged $70 at the register. When I told them the price was wrong I was told to take a picture and get a refund at the returns desk. So I took a picture, went to the returns desk, spent 10 minutes getting a refund, and no we're sorry, we apologize, nothing! Can't blame COVID here. The customer service is awful!Happened again today! Same thing! Overcharged $20. Was told to take a picture. Stood in line at returns desk for 20 minutes. No apology or anything! Why is it the customers job to verify your incorrect prices???

Attempted to contact the store about an item purchased that was missing parts. (buyer beware, open boxes before you leave the parking lot) The phone system gives several options with many of them not functioning, so you have to listen repeatedly to get through to a live person.

If their prices were cheaper it be definitely 5 stars. They always help if you need it and if they can't find it they'll usually call someone. Bathrooms are kept cleaned. The whole store is kept cleaned I hardly see any trash. Cashier ask most of the time if you need help loading items up. They have quality items with a nice price tag. But they'll will most of the stuff you need.

We needing new flooring for a bathroom and man cave renovation project. We were pretty clueless. Damon helped us, but more. He was patient and very well informed. Narrowed down our choices (because you have SO many) and made the selection easier by asking us what we wanted in a product. He did not steer us toward the cheapest or the most expensive, he found the best floor for our needs. Great job!

Please buy from anywhere else when possible. Menards doesnt care about customers. They take sdvantage of their customers. I spent $120 on Friday and used a $48 rebate card and $72 debit card. They scanned a $12 box of screws twice. I noticed after paying. They told me they could not refund the $12 to my debit card, that their policy was to give $12 store credit. I argued with 3 so called managers(kids) 2 of which laughed about it. They made a mistake and i had to take store credit for them over charging my debit card. That makes no sense. Its not like i paid the entire bill with a rebat. Please go to a store that cares and is willing to fix their mistake and not hide behind a so called store policy..

really poor customer service. As for the cashier to have someone bring up some suet because I had to have a ladder to get to it it was on the very top shelf in packages that were not located low enough for a customer to get to. She said I would have to go back and wait for someone to show up there in that department to get it for me. There was no one back there to begin with. so I said that I couldn't go back there again I needed to leave and get my other shopping done and she said okay with a smile on her face. The assistant manager was of no help either she wouldn't call anybody to bring it up when I asked if she would have someone bring it up to me so I can pay for it up here and didn't have to go back again really disappointed because this is the place I like to get all my flowers and I had planned on doing remodeling on windows in my house this summer but I guess I'll go somewhere else and even if I have to drive out of town to do so.
