UPDATE: Spring 23, 1st visit. 2 ppl. 2 piece Fish combo, that means fries and a med. Drink. I'm not sure, so fact check me please, they changed the fish from the previous season and if that's true I like last seasons better. Everything hot and tasty. My friends fish portion was Missing the fish inside, but other than that, all was what we expected. We ordered take out around 4pm and food was ready in 15 minutes with 3 entrees a appetizer 2 shakes and a turtle 🐢 sunday. Entrees were 2 Lute Meat sammies with fries a 2 filet fish dinner, think it was haddock and southern style chicken wings. Drove 10 miles back to Centerville, food was ready to eat and very well prepared. Ice cream was on us on this 85 degree day but gave us something to do on 5he ride home. Thanks to the staff for everything! We will return!We have been back here a few times since this review and still enjoyed the clean environment, great service and delicious food this little place at Lake Rathbun. If you're in the area and love great, reasonably priced sandwichs and pizza. You owe it to yourself to give this place a look!

This place is a hidden gem! The potato salad is excellent! The Philly beef was awesome, as was the BBQ pulled pork. Now, the pies, yummmmmmm! We are ordering two full pies to go even.

Grew up around the area and when I come back to visit I have to stop here. Captain's Landing is always a summer favorite! Very fast service and super friendly staff. They have indoor/outdoor seating for dine in or if you're in a hurry they have a drive through! To top it all off, their ice cream is AMAZING!

After a long day on the lake, this place is perfect for a quick bite before heading back to where ever you are heading. Food was delicious and service friendly. Fries had a crispy outer coating and the BBQ sauce on the pulled pork sandwich had a hint of something fruity and sweet. I had to sneak a bite of my sons food to figure it out! The meat something pizza I ordered was also authentic and delicious. Great food, for the price and convenience.

Went there with my wife today and we left stuffed and happy! Ice cream was delicious, thin crust pizza had good mix of cheese and sauce with a perfect crunch. Bathrooms were clean, nice decor and friendly staff. Was night and day better than our resort meal and 3x less expensive. We might even stop back for dinner to try some other goodies💪

Very very very slow service at the drive up.Ordered and was asked to pull up beside another vehicle who had just ordered while we were waiting. I physically watched 10 other vehicles go through the drive through while I waited. Car next to us got their food no problem they were there before us. While waitinI watched one vehicle pull in and wait for 10 minutes and then leave without ordering.I walked in after waiting for 30 minutes and asked how much longer we had to wait.was asked if I had a name on my order I said no I pulled up and have been waiting for 30 minutes.They all looked at each other like oh what wait oh were sorry were really busy we have lots of orders were putting it in the fryer now. 55 minutes after ordering I finally got my order. The food is good but I will not be doing drive through ever again!! I highly suggest to order ahead and pick it up!

We go out there for our little getaways while the kids are at school we normally get the build a sampler platter you get three different appetizers for one price we end up getting more than three though cuz we'll each get three and sit and share and they're boom boom sauce is the bossParking: Plenty of parking for cars trucks boats campers you name it there's parking for it out at Rathbun Lake area

The hand breaded tenderloin was very good and thin and crispy pizza above average for this part of the country. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Reasonable prices and cute decor. Fast service.

Visited Captain's Landing post 4th of July Weekend 2021. Staff was friendly and efficient. I placed a rather large order and was especially appreciative when the young lady took the time to read it back to me to ensure everything was accurate. Food was delicious, restaurant was incredibly clean and welcoming, and of course, the ice cream was awesome. Will definitely add this to our list of "must stops" when down by Lake Rathbun.

My family eats here occasionally. The Ruben brought me back the first few times. We don't get any ice cream dishes with vanilla because of the "unvanilla" like flavor. The tenderloins are pretty good. Having clams on the menu is impressive for the area.

The pizza is great! Normally I like the shakes, but I got two on two different nights last week and they were not thick at all. It was like drinking chocolate milk. That's not my idea of a shake.

It really is a local treasure. Adorable decor and delicious food set the stage for the main show: ice cream. With many different flavors and a plethora of toppings, you can be sure to find something you’ll enjoy. It can be a bit of a drive, but it is always worth it.

Such a great alternative to the in-house restuarant, at Honey Creek Resort! Better food, better service and considerably less expensive!!! It is only a few minutes away, from the resort, too! Fantastic sandwiches, pizza and all manner of ice cream treats!

Great Philli Cheese Steak and Onion Rings. Ice cream cone will leave you wondering about their incredible proprietary mix; GREAT TEXTURE AND FLAVOR. I think it is cinnamon but they insist it is not. My favorite is anything the have to eat. Their pizza include all toppings no extra charge! And it IS good.

All 5 in our family love eating at Captain's Landing when we are in the area. It's close to the lake without driving all the way into Centerville or somewhere else. Good food, delicious burgers, the pizza is good too. Friendly people own/run the place. It's always clean and bright, nice clean restrooms too which is always wonderful. You can eat inside or out, or pickup at the drive-thru window. We're usually too full for ice cream, but if you do get it, the 'small' is pretty big :) We like the nautical decor too, no trip to the lake is complete without stopping off here at least once...or twice...

My family an I sat here after ordering to not get our food.we ultimately found out they lost our order. We had to reorder. Then missing food when it finally arrived. this place is dysfunctional an incompetent. Staff was snoby an rude. Was a total wast of time.

Great ice cream! Amazing apple pie! Loved the apple pie alamode. Hubby has beachcomber brownie sundae, a little over cooked, which is the only reason for 4 stars versus 5. Great staff.

Normally like swinging through for a quick bite. They took longer than usual, messed up our order, didn't cook the mozz sticks fully, started to argue with us when we tried to get out order fixed. ( Didn't get bacon on the bacon cheeseburger) eventually blamed it on the person taking the order writing it down wrong (watched her write the entire order down, with no mistakes...)All that turned into basically the entire order being ruined due to having to wait AGAIN to get it fixed....What used to be a lake side regular, isn't somewhere we'll be returning any time soon I'm afraid

It is so tiny and literally in the middle of nowhere ( like most things in Iowa). We enjoyed ourselves in a very casual setting, good burgers and fries and for our drinks a chocolate milk shake. Mmmm. Oh if you're in a hurry they have a drive through window.

Food is s great, cozy atmosphere, people are friendly and kind. Reminds me of the old school days of small town ice cream/food places. Price is a lil higher than I'm used to, but not crazy. Four ppl ate for $45.

The last time we came they forgot our chicken gizzards, today they forgot the lemonade. Of course we pull around front to wait for our food, then don't notice what's missing till we are down the highway. So we come back to get the lemonade then realize it was very watered down. Just frustrating all around.

One of our favorite places to go for ice-cream when staying at Lake Rathburn. Rootbeer float was great.
