Very helpful. Measured length and arch and happily brought out several pairs until I found the right fit. Loved that they had a treadmill to really walk or run on in the shoes. Have worn them for a week and awesome fit and feel from day 1.

Staff was really helpful in providing advice and giving insight on foot structure and best shoes for my activity and usage level. Excellent service. We went here for cross country running shoes for my daughter. He took the time to make sure she has something that fit correctly and was comfortable. We really appreciate him taking the time to make sure it was right. I have also shopped here previously to get trail running shoes for myself and I am happy with those as well. What a great addition to the Johnston community. Excellent local running store with a great selection of shoes and running accessories. Lindsey was extremely knowledgeable, professional and attentive to my running concerns. After performing a recorded treadmill running form analysis in my current shoes and explaining to me the results she recommended a number of stability shoes I may like in various sizes. And best of all she was very patient as I ran and reran again in multiple pairs of shoes on the treadmill and outside to find the perfect fitting pair! Great business.

Went to Johnston store for three pairs of shoes for the XC team; 1 was in stock. They called the Clive store and held the other two pairs. Got those same day and picked up a 4th. Great service!Returned a week later, to purchase another pair for the team and then watched them fit my son for some corrective shoes that greatly helped him recovery and end with a healthy season.

Knowledgeable and Easy Going! We went to Heartland Soles to just get my daughter fitted for a pair of running shoes. Coach Asby listened to what we needed, let her try on 4 different pairs and talked her through which one she felt was best for her! He was kind and patient and so super helpful! Even though this go around we didn't make our purchase from there, we will definitely be back and would HIGHLY recommend Heartland Soles to anyone looking for the perfect running or walking shoe. Very detailed in their shoe picking process. They will record you running on a treadmill and pick shoes that help alleviate some problems that you may have while running (for me I needed stability.) They were extremely patient with me and brought out many different types of shoes for me to try on. It has been about a month since I purchased my new shoes and I no longer get shin splints (I use to get them all the time, especially after doing sprint work or long distance runs.) I would definitely recommend getting shoes from these amazing folks.

I went to this brand new running store in Johnston, IA and was very pleased with the owners, selection, service, and atmosphere. The owners are very knowledgeable and know their facts about running, did a video of my running with my old shoes, as well as while trying on new shoes. They were able to fit me with a new shoe that offset my pronation, and felt super comfortable. They have a good selection of the top running shoes, as well as other running and fitness accessories, and they are super easy to work with. I highly recommend this running store for your running and walking needs.

I had a great experience here. I had won a gift card from a race where heartland soles was a sponsor (thank you for sponsoring local races!) and needed some trail shoes for an upcoming trail ultra and a trip to Yellowstone and Utah where I would be doing a lot of trail runs. They were very helpful in helping me find the right shoes, no complaints with them at all. If I need help finding new shoes I would definitely come back.

My wife and I dropped by Heartland Soles during their grand opening yesterday (July 1st). Very impressed with the personal care and concern of the owners. They listened to my wife's concerns, problems and desires in a walking shoe. With that concern, their products and their recommendation; she selected a pair of shoes that are the most comfortable and fitting she has ever purchased. Jordan and Lindsey's record, running experience and the time they take to analyze your walk and run on the treadmill was impressive. I would highly recommend that you check out their new store.

We had problems with blisters from a pair of brooks running shoes we had bought at scheels and after going back decided that a non running employee at a box store should not be the one to tell us what is a good shoe. (They tried to sell us a smaller shoe because they didn’t have our size) We then googled running shoes and found Heartland Soles in Johnston. Late on a Saturday we found the owner to be 100% helpful and informative about what type and size of show we needed. I don’t think we will buy another pair anywhere else as supporting local business, getting a great product and service is worth far more than saving 10$ on a pair of shoes. Thank you Lindsey! Visited about 2 months ago and have put about 100 miles into the shoes I bought here. I was having a lot of problems with shin splints before my visit and found out from the treadmill video that my foot strike paired with the shoes I was using were likely the cause. The staff brought out 7 pairs of shoes for me to try on, walk around in and compare to each other, and ultimately picked a pair out. Haven’t had any problems since. Prices are also set at MSRP, so you likely won’t find a better price along with the running form analysis. Great store and people and a better running shoe selection than you’ll find at a regular department store. 5 stars for sure!

Fantastic store and customer service! They have always done a great job of helping us find the perfect pair of shoes. They take their time with each customer and make sure you have the right fit. Greatly appreciate that they let you bring them back if you try them and end up not liking them.
