What an amazing campground! Off season camping in March. $12/night with electric! No water available. Large campsites that are somewhat level. Nice lake with picnic tables and bench swings. Just a few miles of I-35 for a easy night stay. Empty during off season. In the summer some sites can be reserved, but most are first-come. County park website is a little confusing, but you can pay on site with a check - a nice change with all the campgrounds going to the online digital hell. Definitely will return!

This park is clean and beautiful. You will find several sitting areas near the lake. There is a shade near the lake and you can reserve for party.

great place for camping this year they have a new bathhouse ...Very Nice! they have great access to the lake and a well kept campground.Restrooms: great new bathhouse added this very very clean.

I'd stopped by here as a side trip during and excursion to some childhood memory "lanes". I'd reviewed the lake before but thought I'd give it one more with some cold Iowa chilled pictures this time. It's so close the highway 69 that you can't pass it up and not stop at least for a few minutes. I think I'd donated a few fishing lures there as a youth too.

We spent two nights mid-week in site 1 in our fifth wheel. Our site was a pull thru with FHU. Only negative was that the sites are paved with white dusty chunky gravel, otherwise our stay was lovely. Lake is pretty & is stocked with walleye & lots of nice benches & swings to sit on along the lake. Our site was just inside the entrance so we had road noise from Hwy 69, but there are many nice sites further into the park. Restrooms looked clean & functional. We liked that the park is fully powered by solar. Park host was friendly & the park is very well maintained by county park staff. The park also had several nice cabins for large groups. We definitely will stop again on our way through Iowa.

It's a decent little RV park and I guess even better if you own a boat. The road nearby is heavily traveled and most vehicles drive past like their running a race. On our first morning we were awoken by the sound of two ride on tractor mowers around 8:30am. Sorry, but when I'm trying to get away from it all constant traffic and noisy mornings aren't my thing.Also, another morning we woke up to hear someone shooting a gun about 100-200 yards away?! Wouldn't really recommend.Restrooms: Very clean.

This seems like a nice campground. Reasonable prices. I don't care for the first serve policy, because it doesn't work well with my schedule. The restrooms seemed clean. The host was nice. The officer was helpful.Playground: Playground looks nice.Restrooms: Seemed clean, but nothing fancy.Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed. There is no dog park.

And absolutely breathtaking campsite in the north part of Central Iowa! I went there with my friends to try and catch the Aurora Borealis, but all we caught was a good journey and a full moon reflected in the absolutely still lake. The park is open till 10:30 at night, so even if you don't want to stay, it makes for an amazing day trip.

It's a great place to come with the kids they have a nice Beach and with the first-come-first-serve policy of setting up your camper be prepared to find a spot but not a big deal.

Haven't camped here in 15+ yrs. We had spot 29. Great location. The bathrooms and showers are new & clean and within our view. I gotta say we were very impressed with both. 29 is a site with electric and water.We struggled both nights with the electricity working. The first night we set up our pop-up camper and turned the a/c on low while we cooked and ate dinner. The electricity went off multiple times. We had to keep turning the box on and off. We only had our a/c on low and a Riddex pest control box plugged in.We ended up giving up and just leaving it alone since it was getting cooler out. So nbd.In the AM we showered and left for appts, returning early afternoon. We turned the a/c on to low to cool the camper down and went to the beach. 2 hrs later we returned to a hot camper (85⁰ outside, use your imagination). This was about 445p. It is now 6p and I still can't get the electricity to work/stay on, even with nothing on in the camper and nothing plugged in.We were able to plug in an air fryer to the outside of our camper last night with no issues, while the a/c ran. This morning we used a toaster oven to cook breakfast, again no issues. I'm headed out now to try to find a ranger to assist us.Update: we didn't find anyone as we had to run in to town. When we returned one of the hosts was at the site working on the box! [So if it is because of this review, sorry this wasn't a complaint, and thank you!] The gentleman was very kind and attentive. We told him how we just started camping & he helped educate us on somethings and answered some of my 'dumb' questions.A/C is working wonderfully now, btw ☺️Playground: 2 nice playgroundsRestrooms: Super clean, very impressed

Beautiful little lake with nice cabins. We rented two of the cabins this year. This photo is the larger one. We had 12 people staying and almost everyone had their own bed. A total of 10 "beds" which include singles, doubles, pull out couches and pull out futons. Lake is steps away, large picnic tables on patio, playground on other side of lake that you can see from cabin. We love it here for our family weekend vacations.

Nice county park campground. Very few reserve able sites and unfortunately the web site has no site length information. We had reserved a spot after looking at Google satellite maps but when we arrived our rig was too large to fit, so camp host allowed us to seamlessly transfer to one of the larger first come first served pull-through spots. Camp host very friendly and helpful. Campground is maintained well, very clean, mowed and trimmed. ** Please add site length to the reservation web site.

Sites are easy to pull/back into. Some are set up for groups to face each other and share a common fire pit. Filled up early for Memorial day weekend and was pretty empty by 5 on Monday. Nice lake and trails. Pet friendly.

Cute, quiet campground that fills up FAST. Not a place you can visit randomly and hope to find a spot. It would be better if they had a reservation system. They NEED a second shower house/bathroom where they have expanded the campground to the east. Too few full hookups too far from the only shower house. The swimming area needs to be expanded. It is very small and never more than waist deep for me and I'm only 5'3". Still a lovely place if you can get a shady spot.

Nice clean park. Great hosts. Responsive to any issue-needed a breaker replaced on post. Would be 5 stars except super dusty from campground and boat traffic driving on gravel. Have been to parks where they apply substance to gravel to minimize this which makes a huge difference.

This County Park is a beauty. Easy access to all the sites and dump station. We were there mid September and didn't notice any bad odors which can be common in farm country. I think it was under $20 a night but go to so many places I can't recall. Party on.

Very nice and clean campground with lots of space to navigate truck and big camper. Good view of the lake for most spots. Lots of things to keep as busy as you want for any age. You can even keep busy reading or taking nap! LOL.

Growing up in Story City and camping at Little Wall since I was very young, I have watched this go from a dirty, outdated campground and lake with a bait shop and boat rental to a very nice, clean, family friendly place to go. The restrooms/showers by the rangers house could use some updating.There is firewood for sale on site by the registration site that is dry and good burning wood. There is a bait vending machine with live bait (yes, you read that correctly) by the restrooms. This is such a popular campground, it fills early for the weekend as early as Wednesday. It is a bit higher priced than other campgrounds.
