I visited the Corner Sundry on the west side of the square in Indianola, IA, the afternoon of 12/13/23. In the midst of errands I decided to sit, relax and have a cup of coffee. I'm very glad I chose this small place, my first time there. My individual cup of coffee was freshly brewed, tasty and hit the spot. The owner, Mike, was friendly, personable and served me with a smile. The place was busy when I first walked in, but it didn't take long to get my order. I will indeed return!

Opened in 1949 Corner Sundry is an indianola institution. They have all the traditional soda fountain favorites. From green rivers, malts, Bannana splits and more. A wide selection of vintage candidates including twin rings, candy buttons, and candy cigarettes. 🍬Recently they have added sandwiches and walking tacos. A must stop for whole family.Kid-friendliness: The owner is very kind and patient with kiddos.

We were super excited to try The Corner Sundry tonight after dinner and as soon as we entered the door, the female employee working behind the counter rolled her eyes and shook her head looking at us with annoyance. It was 7:40pm (check the cameras) and there was still 20 minutes to closing. She was very clearly frustrated and when we turned to leave I told her not to worry - we surely wouldn’t be ordering anything. Super disappointed.***Even more disappointed in the owner’s response below. That’s quite an interesting spin on what actually happened. All the same, we won’t return.

The soda shop is almost like stepping back in time, with soda fountains,The current owner can fill orders solo faster than most fast food restaurants, with a crew.I highly recommend a visit to this piece of history on the square.

Having been a patron for nearly 50 years, it's a delightful pleasure to walk in the door. The plethora of drinks, both hot and cold, are perhaps the backbone of this establishment. The long favored cherry coke was available here much earlier than the mass produced product by "Coke-Cola". The decor is both charming and nostalgic. Patron ages range from the very young, who have much fun sitting and swirling around on the bar stools, to the much older folks, who wished they were swirling on the bar stools. But all of this wouldn't matter without the current owner's good sense of customer service.

I love coming here for an old fashioned malt or Shake. It's like stepping into the thirties or forties. You expect to see young gentleman in slacks and young ladies in skirts and Bobby Socks. Fantastic malts and Shakes. Not to mention that you can get an old fashioned phosphate.

The owner is cheap, can only make shakes and malts with vanilla ice cream. The cherry vanilla coke fountain drink use to be amazing before the new owner bought it. Everything has gone down hill!

They are a rip off big time. Waste of money. Quality isnt good. AND get this. We were ordering and we weren't finished and the manager made us pay even though my sister hadn't got nothing. Then when she went to get something he was serving the next people.

The young man working was great. He was very friendly and funny. The only issue was the icecream we ordered was old, it had been there quite a while.
