This was at the Mills Civic Hy-Vee. We bumped into some family we hadn't seen for quite a while and ended up visiting with them for a half hour or so. Total of 5 adults and 2 kids in our group. Had a Hy-Vee employee come up to us and rudely tell us to move on because we were clogging the area. He ran off quick as a rabbit and I didn't get his name. There were NO people having trouble getting around us. I felt offended! We all spent money there today and many, many times in the past. I will not be going back!!!

I do not recommend their toasted “sub” ordered a sub today and he asked me if I wanted it toasted and I said sure. He turned it into a crusted, rock hard like panini

We have been shopping at this Hy Vee store since it was built. The staff is friendly and helpful and they have a nice selection of products. Their pharmacy is also very helpful and easy to work with.We used their bakery in the summer of 2023 for our son and daugher-in-law's wedding. They baked and decorated the German Chocolate Cakes (a large layered GC cake for cutting, and the layered GC sheet cakes for most of our guests), along with a plain, boring (but beautiful) white sheet cake for the less- adventurous guests, or those who can't tolerate coconut or pecans. The cakes were beautiful, and most importantly, they were DELICIOUS! Best German Chocolate Cake we've had. Their bakery version is more dense than the tiny ones they get in frozen from an outside vendor. Their bakery recipe is a moist, dark chocolate cake with an excellent butter cream chocolate frosting, and the delicious coconut pecan frosting. We got so many compliments on the cakes.We also got the flowers from their florist shop. Mandie, who worked with us, asked a lot of questions to find out what the couple wanted, and she made it happen! The flowers were beautiful. Everything was delivered on time to the Embassy Club (West Des Moines) for the ceremony/reception.We couldn't be happier with the store.We also highly recommend the Embassy Club West. They know how to throw an elegant party. They provide attentive, professional service, and the food was amazing.

The level of disrespect I received from Delicia today was ridiculous. I'm not sure what her problem is but every time I go into the store she has an attitude when I ask for help. The only reason this review is 2 stars instead of 1 is because she is the only person I have a problem with at this store. Please fix this HyVee!

UPDATE: I did reach out to management as Hy-Vee requested in response to my review, but have not heard back in over 2 weeks. I guess their email inboxes are as well organized as their store. (updating from 2 stars to 1 given this false impression of help).ORIGINAL REVIEW:Bigger isn't always better. This store has expanded a lot of their sections over the years, but my latest trip inside made it clear they don't know how to organize their space. I had to walk through all three drink aisles I could find to look for 1 product their site and their employees said was in stock at this store. Me and 2 employees couldn't find 2/3 items that I came for. All of which showed as in stock online and all of which had a potential of 2-4 locations in the store...(why?)I talked to a family member later about the terrible walk-a-ton of trying to get groceries and the family member (who uses a cane) said they stopped going to Hy-Vee for that exact reason. It is too much walking when you have to scavenger hunt for your items.The employees were nice (that's why this is even 2 stars) but they couldn't help us because the layout and inventory system failed them.I'll take the right item in 1 aisle over a "helpful smile in every aisle."

Visited this store just before 6:00pm on 1/23/24. Jillian is the most rude individual I’ve ever encountered at a HyVee. Apparently frustrated that their USPS machine was down she appeared increasingly frustrated by the fact I also had dry cleaning and couldn’t brush me off. Very disappointing experience. Not sure why this individual is working at Customer Service with no desire to help customers.

Generally good. Only things disappointing are the quick meal Americanised Chinese food which has been getting worse over the last year, and the overall quick meal selection as a whole.

While this location 9/10 times has what I need, the reason for my 2 out of 5 stars is because customer service doesn't exist here. There are employees working on the floor, but it's pathetic when I can't get any of their attention because they're only focused on their work or they're too young to care. "A Smile Behind Every Aisle" needs to be changedUPDATE: This location now deserves a 0 out of 5 because of the pharmacy issues I have experienced over the last two years. Fix your system and hire techs who know what they're doing.

Bad Attitude Employee in Curbside PickupMy wife and I just moved to Iowa and made our first trip to the grocery store today. (This Hy-Vee)I went through the Hy-Vee online order drive-thru at ~4:30pm on 8/19, and the interaction went as follows:Me: "My wife placed an order for the online pick-up (I then gave them her name)."Him: "We don't show that order, do you have the order details?"*I then show him my phone with the order details*Him: "You're at the wrong Hy-Vee"Me: "Oh, I didn't know there are two here--we just moved to the area. Is it pretty far away?"Him: "You have the address there on your phone"Me: "Oh, yea, I was just asking to get a sense of how far off I am"Him: "Looks like your phone has gps, you can figure it out"*He then walks back inside without saying anything else*Not sure why a store would have someone like that interfacing with customers.UPDATE:The store responded to my message and asked me to call so that they could look into it further. I called the number they asked me to call and the employee said a separate manager runs the pick-up orders, and they weren't around, so I would need to call another day.My family now uses Target down the road for pick-up orders--employees there are super friendly, which is a nice change.

I received excellent customer service! I had a last minute sandwich platter and bagel order for a group. It was no problem. The communication with and between me, the deli, and the bakery was awesome. The food looked and smelled fantastic. The employees really treated me well. They even shopped my cream cheeses for me to save me time. The helper at self-checkout even did almost everything for me!

Really well-stocked store. I'd had a long drive so it was nice to sit down in a very clean, relatively quiet area and have a coffee and some pretty good food. This was an unexpected surprise and this comes about as close to a HEB as I've ever seen outside Texas. Not bad, Hy-Vee.... not bad at all :)

Hy Vee needs to stop selling Mongolian beef at their Chinese counter. Pretty sure that’s not even beef anymore, and if it is, it’s the bad parts they aren’t allow to sell at the meat counter. And it’s 99% onion, the picture attached is after I ate the nasty beef pieces.

Tried pickup about a year ago, it was dreadful. Decided to give them another chance today, it was somehow even worse. Of my $90+ of groceries that I was charged for, I was missing $52 of it when I got home. Multiple missing bags, over half the items that were rung up missing including expensive things like a steak and lunch meat. This isn't even going into how terrible the site is - you can't even remove something from the order after you've added it without calling the store, it's ridiculous. If you're going to do grocery pickup, go to any Fareway, they have always done fantastically, gotten everything correct, picked good produce. Hyvee is a pathetic shell of the store it was even three years ago, and I'll never be visiting another Hyvee location again.
