Two stars bc the employees are very friendly. They were probably the best part about the store honestly. It was very upsetting to see the prices on things here, I will not be back. $5 for men’s old short/boxers? Why? $10 for Walmart/cheap fast fashion jeans?! Woah. These prices are about the equivalent to Plato’s closet except you get the risk of bed bugs and running into old dirty clothes here.

Way overpriced. What happened to Goodwill, you should find some good items and good deals. You're pricing yourself right out of being good it should be bad will coming. To help people get jobs and do things, when things are better in the United States right now you decide to price yourself out of business. You won't be getting any of my business anymore and may Goodwill close down USA across Coast to Coast. East and west north and south may your doors shut forever.

Stopped by today been almost 6 months+ what a mess! Glass counters filled with junk nothing in there deserves to be there unshoppable and ugly. Prices are outrageous in the furniture area for the demographics of store area Eastside not Jordan Creek or URB. Shoe rack wall gone now very little to shop forStore looks trashy everything's went downhill since that manager that always had her hair pulled back with sun glasses on her head left geesh DAV has better store appearance this GW used to be my favorite that store diffinalty need to take some pride in where they work

Like any other Goodwill, there's always a lot of variety. You won't always find exactly what you want, but in a couple trips you usually do! Things are used, but typically in good shape. I love going to Goodwill!

The cashier was great, except the prices was outrageous. The manager has bedding in there for 117$, fasciitis for 126$, and used clothing outrageous. End tables 63$. They get stuff used and free, then they want to charge high prices on stuff. I'm going to start taking pictures of the stuff. It's a shame they want to steal from the poor. I thought this place was to help people,not abuse them financially. Shame on them

Updated 3/29/22:After speaking with Goodwill Central Iowa’s leadership and explaining the situation from the original review posted below, it seems as though the issue has been addressed. I have been back to this location several times since and I’ve had much better experiences.Original 2-star review below:I wanted to give a higher star review for this store based on most of their staff, but after the experience I had most recently, I can’t. Tammie W., their assistant manager, was horrible to my mom and I when we went in to this location. I wanted to buy a small piece of wooden furniture, but didn’t have a pen to write my name on the “sold” slip that’s attached to the item. I took the sold slip to the front and borrowed a pen that was sitting on the (unattended) counter, only for Tammie to start yelling at me, saying, “the slip stays attached to the item!!”, which I am well aware of. I didn’t want to damage the furniture by writing on the paper while it was on the wooden surface either! When we went to checkout, Tammie was rude again, getting argumentative when I asked why we had to drive around to the side of the building to pickup a piece of furniture that could much more simply be brought through the front of the store. She gave a BS excuse that it’s for safety reasons due to their glass doors. Newsflash, Tammie: those automatic glass doors you have are not going to close on me, and if they do happen to get bumped, are designed to gently swing outward as a safety feature to prevent the glass from breaking and to aid in egress (evacuation) in the event of an emergency. Your doors aren’t the issue, Tammie, it’s your horrible attitude and bitter personality. When we drove around the side to pick up the piece of furniture, I had to go through their back room area (much more of a liability than letting me load through the front). The doors they made me load through are inherently more dangerous, as they are not automatic, but rather are heavy and metal, and way more likely to cause harm due to slamming on a customer. I remarked about Tammie’s attitude to the employee working the back door and she didn’t seem surprised at all, instead saying, “Yeah, she’s usually in the back.” I can totally see why they’di keep someone like Tammie in the back, because she definitely should not be dealing with customers. The rest of this store’s staff are very sweet, and are the main reason why I frequently (at least once a week) shop here. That being said, if I have so much as one more “Tammie experience”, I’ll happily stop driving out of my way to go to this Goodwill.

Absurd furniture prices. Both WDM locations are way more reasonable than your store, and you are in a more impoverished neighborhood, shame on you.

Still not opening dressing rooms is pretty ridiculous and seems to be out of laziness. Plenty of other stores have them open. They also took down their mirror to dissuade people from doing a quick try on or to gauge if they will like the clothing. Never again

I loved my experience here. I shop Goodwills all over the region, and I’ve never seen so many high-end labels and clean quality vintage on the racks. Felt more like a curated boutique than a thrift store. And, high-end items weren’t ridiculously up-priced like so many Goodwills are doing now. Best of all, the customer service was awesome. I bought a very large amount of items, and while the staff seemed suspicious of me at first, once they learned my purpose they organized a team to help me get checked out while still having staff available to help other customers. Well done, y’all!

There's a clerk by the name of Terri? that was working yesterday..she'd been asked to help cashier, and after a customer or two, she made the comment 'I am not gonna get nothin done today!' I said 'and if it wasn't for the customers being in here buying stuff, there wouldn't be a reason for you to be working here!!!' The girl who was my cashier was very nice!!! I will be back in ONLY because of HER!! Goodwill doesn't need employees like Terri!!

Most of the items that I saw in this store are in great condition. They don't have a huge selection of books as other Goodwills but they have a great selection of clothes, electronics, housewares, and toys.

People who say this is a clean place must really really live in an unclean house and have grown accustomed to their dirty surroundings. I agree they have decent prices for used donated items, and most of the staff are friendly. But clean, hell no! Sometimes it's cramped, clothes are generally all over the place, misc items in aisles, I've even seen roaches. The set up is horrible and an eye sore. The bald head guy they call the Major is terrible at running the metro area stores (especially this one) and needs to find a new job, maybe ministry but not retail and customer service. Sorry just being honest.

Some of there things are a little high on there prices and i have experienced poor customers service in the East Des Moines Iowa location. I have also experience when I go to buy more then one of the same thing that they are priced different but they are the same thing. I have also experience when something is sticker and it only happens when one girl that works there she goes and gets a price check on all the things i have to buy .. She is very rude about and it makes me feel uncomfortable. I am a single mother and I need to shop at stores like the goodwill but this lady makes me feel very uncomfortable to even go to the store if she is working that day .. I mean it happens every time . .. So i don't stop there any more and u have to go to a different location.

I have a business called Kaveman Hauling LLC Junk Removal Service and a client wanted 5 pallets donated. This Goodwill was able to gracefully only take 1 of the pallet full of apparel. Thank you for doing so.

I was always a very frequent customer in 14th street and park goodwill but today I will stop being a set of drillsI paid $ 15.99 I asked the cashier if it worked and she answered that if it was not true, I returned today to tell them that they would not work if they changed them for something else and they did not accept it. ensure that the objects are functional who wants to pay $ 15.99 for garbage will never return

I took 2 bags of name brand clothes and shoes in. I bought a pair of shoes and realized I had the wrong size an hour later I realized what I bought was the wrong size. They wouldn’t let me exchange. I will never buy nor donate there again. I have donated a LOT as it is close to Altoona

I like this good will a lot but I think that the merchandise there is over priced. I think that they could help out with getting people jobs but could help more with the rest of us by lowering the price on their donated items.
