The stuff is very helpful and I enjoyed the shopping experience at the store pretty much every time, but sometimes it can be difficult to track down an employee when you really need some help.

This Menards is my favorite out of the Cedar Rapids locations, and Iowa city location. I’ve been coming here for a few years with my partner, and haven’t had a bad experience. Just the last couple months though we have had two run ins with the same cashier that has started to put a damper on our visits. She is an older woman at the front end who has been our cashier twice. Both times she has checked us out she has completely ignored any conversation we try to have with her. I completely understand some people it’s hard to hold conversations, or get overwhelmed with what can be extremely chaotic. We usually don’t mind when people don’t want to have conversations, except while we are either paying or she is about to scan our items and we say hello she has stared at us blankly, turns around and will start talking to the other people in line, and the person who is about to leave check out. I thought maybe she was having a bad day the first time, but for it to have happened a second time in the same manner isn’t okay. We actively avoid her when we go in now because it feels rude and we don’t want her to ruin our mood. My receipt says her name is Angie.

The prices are higher for most products compared to other vendors. Their delivery charge is ludicrous! You have to pay more to just get it in your door!Folks are friendly for the most part. They are very helpful when you can find someone.There is everything you can possibly need there from screws to furniture.

On Monday night December 18 two front end employees wearing yellow vests were found standing inside the cart corral talking to each other for a long time. Not doing their jobs. They need to do their jobs or punch out and go home. Not acceptable. We need and apreciate yor business is not acceptable for this place. Went to the SW Menards today to get hardware to assemble an end table. Though they didn't have everything I needed, Cody in hardware spent an immense amount of time with me, helping me find most of what I needed, and searching on his phone for the parts they don't carry. Kudos Cody. Great customer service!

I've been coming to this Menards for some time and live very close. I had easily my worst experience here trying to rent out a polisher/buffer - starting just after 11:00am today.DO NOT rent any of their Polishers. I made 3 separate back and forth trips here today due to being provided wrong parts, gear jammed in the brush attachment, and employee lack of knowledge about the machine. Over a period of 2+ hours I was eventually told I'll be reimbursed since they could not unstick the brush attachment (stuck from previous renter) that they forgot to give to me during my first (and second) trip....Thanks for the reimbursement I guess.. more compensation for MY TIME lost & inconvenience would have been appreciated.Edited (1:10pm):They (Noah) called back at 1:05pm and was able to get the gear off so it could work and I didn't have to go somewhere else for one. They also restarted my 4 hour rental window and compensated additional time for the inconvenience. For my 4th trip here today, I improved this rating from 1 to 3.Edited again (6:33pm):I returned the polisher and brush back just after 5:00pm for my 5th Menards Trip 😮💨. All compensation promised previously was forgotten (or not noted in the system between different personal) 😮💨😮💨. They attempted to charge me for returning it past the 4 hour limit.. and I had to relive/explain the situation 😮💨😮💨😮💨 The manager Wendy came over again later to correct the situation. She has been experiencing this whole situation of.... FUN.. all day with meI still would not recommend anyone else use this Polisher/buffer. It has seen MUCH better days. It was $25 for 4 hours... I'll just leave it at that.. you get what you pay for. The wheels added scruffs into my floor while it was buffing 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨 Ironic that it would buff out scuffs while creating more at the same time haha (it created more scruffs then it would polish away) all I can do is laugh at this point about the whole traumatic experience - changed from 3 to 2 star.Wendy & Noah provided great customer service to try and make the situation right. 5 stars for them all around. I appreciate their time and effort. I STRONGLY recommend Menards get a new polisher all together - for their customers and employees.

I'm glad that you told me to find a third party to solve the product quality problem when I fed back the product quality problem. If I was asked to find a manufacturer, I would have to go abroad... The next time I buy something, I must buy it from the nearest manufacturer, so they told you that you should go to the manufacturer for quality problems without going too far away. Your after-sales service is first-class, because they always let you go and find others. This is not something we can solve. What does it mean that I have to go to other places to solve problems when I buy your goods? Also, your products do not have problems in the use process, but should have problems before use, right? Because I have to guess whether it is good after you pack it in cartons. Once you open it, you don't care, right? Your manager even asked me why I should refuel and start the machine. How can I judge whether it is good or bad without starting the machine?

I stopped by early this morning for a lawn mower blade and some wild bird seed and this shorter younger gentleman with longer hair named enyeto helped me. I told him I didn’t want seed that would make my birds any crazier because they were already wild enough and he assured me that wasn’t the case. He was so caring and patient with me. I’m older and haven’t been feeling well and the way he took care of me while I was Ill, I loved him!!! 5 stars will definitely be back!

We had been shopping for decking all over town. When we went to Menards, we met Clayton who was just amazing. He walked us through all the details, worked within our budget to get us the best product for our money and even offered to be a Q and A guy during our process. I would highly recommend!!!

**This review details a negative experience with a cashier named Deb during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. While I understand this was a stressful time for everyone, Deb's behavior was unprofessional and potentially unsafe.During checkout, Deb slammed a basket down on the counter which i had began to move out of the way as my items where about to all fall . Didnt know this basket is a barrier and protected her from getting sick. Non the less after striking my hand and causing items to fall to the floor. She then verbally directed me to a different location in the line without explanation. When I tried to clarify, Deb became aggressive and disengaged from the interaction.While checkout procedures may have changed due to COVID-19, a more professional approach would have been to calmly explain the purpose of the basket and offer assistance with my overflowing items. Slamming the basket down and walking away were unacceptable actions, especially considering the potential for injury.**This clarifies that the basket hit my hand and caused items to fall, making it a more serious incident. It also emphasizes the potential for injury, highlighting the severity of Deb's actions This review focuses on the facts of the situation. And I have never heard anything from the store to date about this .

This weekend we came in for 20 bags of paver sand, 30 bags of base, and made a second trip for 110 pavers. A young man named Connor came up with a fork lift the first load and asked how many, and he lifted the pallets up to the truck, and told us to find him for our second trip to get the pavers. He even got in the back of the truck to help load bags. Very nice guy, and so eager to make it a good experience.

We had ordered a fan on line and got an email it was to be picked up in Waterloo.We called the the store and explained we could not drive to Waterloo.Dylan went above and beyond to have it delivered to our home in Cedar Rapids.It arrived very quickly.Very impressed with the way Dylan handled it.

I ordered a window air conditioner online this morning. All online orders can be picked up at Door 15 in the yard. I showed my confirmation email to the guy at the gate, the girl at the counter wheeled it out to my vehicle. In & out in 5 minutes. So easy!

Typically when I come to the store in person, employees are always very friendly. However, the same cannot be said for those who answer the phones. It seems that almost every time I call, I end up speaking to someone who would rather be doing anything but helping a customer remotely. This last phone call was the final straw. After being transferred by the front desk associate who was not friendly and very abrupt, she transferred me before I could even finish speaking, I was sent to someone in hardware. Again, he was not polite and made me feel like I shouldn't call in with questions. I wasn't going to deal with it anymore so I told him to just forget about it and hung up. Please, teach your employees better customer service skills for over the phone..

The Menards in Marion is excellent. This Menards has employees who don't think about the customer because they weren't trained to and management that doesn't care. The entire time I was checking out the employee was using her phone. When she changed my hundred she gave me fives. I asked why I couldn't have the twenties in her drawer and she said she was saving them. I went to management who said she needed to save her twenties to make change and that's why I was given fives. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I will not return under any circumstances.

On 7/13/21 I ordered nine custom cut blinds, reach into my pocket to pay, I didn't have my walletI asked the cashier please call the manager over because I wanted to run out to the car to transfer money from one account to another account so in the end I could use my phone to pay. I was informed that they cannot hold my product as I have not paid for them...The front end manager that night made it perfectly clear that if I walk away from the cash register he will definitely be defecting out the blinds that I just had cut

Everyone was super helpful and friendly. I was able to have my items shipped to the store to avoid a $42 shipping fee because the employee did something on their end to fix what was showing as "available" in store. And I was then able to return the extra materials I purchased previously online that were being discontinued. Great service 👍

Purchased Air conditioner online. Arrived to pick it up hours later. They tried to load a broken carboard box with a used or returned air conditioner in it. No parts. None of the manuals or accessories. Just a greasy used unit with all of the back pushed in. It looked like someone used a hammer on it. Never will do business with Menards again. One star is too high of a rating for this store.

Tyler in flooring was very helpful in helping us locate vinyl plank that they were out of. He looked up 3 other locations and provided phone numbers and box count so all I had to do was call them. Thank you Tyler!

i actually enjoyed going to the lumberyard today, there was a new guy working that actually knew where everything was at, and the 4 trips i made there during the day on saturday he was always busy cleaning and straightening up, but always came over and made time to make sure i could find everything i needed and even helped me load some very heavy lumber. thumbs up this time for hiring a more mature worker who wasn't on his phone or seemed to be inconvenienced by me being there

We bought a dishwasher from them (which was $1100but that's besides the point) and they didn't tell us that it didn't come with the power cord or water hook up that comes with it and then it was a pain to get what we need.Kinda felt like they got what they needed with the sale and they didn't want to help us....it was exhausting ended up having to go somewhere else for the parts. I was able to get what I was looking for, there wasn't a lot of people in the store so I felt safe walking around. I bought poles for a fence I put them on the bottom of my cart. My suggestion would be to tape the ends of the poles, I ended up slicing my leg open at the register I asked for help from an employee at the door she didn't seem to concerned but did get me a paper towel.
