Prices are decent but after many years of shopping here it is very clear the quality of products are lower than other stores. If you want name brand products that last go elsewhere. Another thing, the rebate program is like something out of the 1980s, please stop already.

Save yourself the frustration and avoid this store. The quality control here is abysmal. I expected the searching for around 45 minutes to find 9 boards that were somewhat straight. I didn’t expect the numerous nail and screw holes throughout all of the boards that I discovered once I got the boards to site.  Who would have thought that I would needed to meticulously inspect every single inch of a board for holes?  To add insult to injury, one of the so-called managers made empty promises of delivering new boards and allowing me to discard the defective ones. But surprise, surprise! They conveniently reneged on their word when I called back the next business day after they were supposed to deliver.  Suddenly, they no longer wanted to honor their commitment and demanded that I bring back the lumber for any type of restitution.  Seriously, who in their right mind restocks used lumber? This store is a sad excuse for a reputable establishment.  I strongly advise against wasting your time and money at this store. Their lack of integrity and disregard for customer satisfaction is truly appalling. Look elsewhere for a store that actually values its customers and provides quality products.

I visited Menards yesterday to buy some items for my home improvement project. I was looking for a specific item that I couldn't find on the shelf, so I asked an employee for help. He was very friendly and helpful, and he showed me exactly where to find what I needed.While I was there, I also checked out their Christmas decorations. They had a lot of beautiful and festive items on display, from lights and ornaments to wreaths and trees. I felt like I was in a winter wonderland. I bought a few things to spruce up my home for the holidays.I had a great experience at Menards and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs quality products and excellent service. It's one of my favorite stores to shop at.

Customer service is horrible, asked where something was and the first person pointed to the other side of building, second one said it's either on this end or the other end, third one said its a long that end of the store. I finally found it, an item similar to what I needed, a bucket for 40$, I searched online and located what I was looking for on the other end for 18$. Cudnt find putty knifes, asked a clerk named Jordan even though I was hesitant to ask for any help, and she walked me over to the aisle. Jordan was very helpful, I remember when all helped like Jordan, not like that anymore. I will shop at Altoona next time.

Menards obviously doesn't actually read these reviews since I got the same general response that everyone gets. I said in the review that the manager was part of the problem. Why would I want to talk to them again?Black Friday 2023, I was helping a friend set some tile in his bathroom. He was short 1 sheet of underlayment. We went to Menards and had to pick it up in the yard. The gate attendant told me where to find it. We went over and loaded the 1 sheet and went to leave. The attendant then wanted me to roll down the window so he could look in the cab of my pickup. I declined. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came out and said he had to look in the back of my pickup cab. I said no. This has never been a policy to search the inside of a vehicle and it’s none of their business what is inside of my vehicle. They didn’t check it on the way in and they most certainly weren’t going to check it on the way out. If fact they didn’t even look under the sheet of underlayment that I just loaded. He again spewed something about it being policy. I’ve been going to this store for at least 26 years and have never had anyone want to check the seating area of a vehicle. I told the manager he wasn’t looking inside the cab of my truck and if he didn’t like it then he could call the police. A little while later the police showed up. At the end of this ordeal one of the police officers asked the manager if he had any reason to believe that I stole anything. The manager replied with, “no”. I was then allowed to leave.If Menards is having trouble with people stealing then maybe they should have lot attendants out helping customers in the lot instead of giving vague directions to where customers could find the products they purchased. Home Depot is right next door and the small amount of money I could save by shopping at Menards is not worth being treated like a criminal for no reason.

Conveniently located right off I35 this store has it all. To say the neighborhood is congested would be an understatement, so take care in the undersized parking lot. I was impressed with the selection of usual and unusual items they carry. Excellent help from the department staff. Check-out staff were cordial but sadly could not sing the "Save Big Money" jingle.

Didn't have the walnut wood I was looking for but everyone that helped me was very nice and professional. Shopping for bathroom vanities, I have done a lot of comparison shopping and I must say that Menards seemed to have the least amount of selection and what they did have appeared higher priced for lesser quality. I did take advantage of their 11 percent rebate for a different purchase I was making.

Store is laid out wrong if you are doing a project you end up walking the whole store to get what you need. Spend more time looking for what you need.

I love Menards. It has everything from furniture, construction material to decor items and price is always right. I have a truck. If you don't, you can rent one by the hour to bring home your items. I prefer it over Lowe's and we get a Military discount.

If you want to go on a wild goose chase come here!Horrible customer service .Had to ask multiple people how to find things... each one acted as though we were bugging them.One guy actually just kept walking and said go back to the cabinets when looking for a tool kit...What a joke, going to Home Depot from now on!

First off, it's not so much the store, but the location. Getting out of the parking lot can be a nightmare. Also I asked the guy at the service counter if I pick my stuff up outside and he said no, go to the back and pick it up. I get to the back and YES I could have drove my truck around back and picked up but instead had to wheel everything through the store for no reason. Everything else was good

Bought a Maytag refrigerator 6 months ago and it broke down, after repair still does not keep food cold on coldest setting. Asked manger if they could do anything and he was unable to do anything. So frustrating to spend, so much money on something that is junk.

Other than the narrow parking spots and lack of cart collection spots, I enjoy this store. Great selection and usually a “good, better, best” option to choose from. The teens working there could stand to used a “customer service with a smile/etiquette 101” class but the management and more seasoned employees have been great. The only thing missing is a beer cooler for those frustrating DIY projects.

If you're responsible and keep your receipts then it's their 11% off everything sale right now. I love the sale prices that they have it's comparable to other homr improvement companies but it isn't my number one place to go because they don't carry a specific brand of tools that I'm quite fond of. So if I do a big project (which one is coming up) I will either have to go to that other store or go to both regardless. So save a few bucks on some material and go right down the road to get some tools. This is my life because I'm a thrifty fella.

Terrible experience. Paige in painting was rude, would not help assist how every other Menards has helped, and left me utterly disappointed. We've spent thousands at Menards the last few weeks, and this experience sent us to the competitor near by.

MENARDS ANKENY location is my “happy place” not just bc they have tools, great selection, good prices, esp the rebates! I like it best for the long time employees I have gotten to know over the years. Some are so kind they even offer to pray for me during difficult times. No matter what day, I can always count on smiling faces greeting me up front and that helps greatly. Tim the store manager hired great people!Nicest most friendly employees have become friends with many of the frontline checkers, managers, and Dept specialists. Happy people reflective of a positive work environment and Menard’s “culture”! Much of the reason I choose to shop there. Trickle down positive work environment started at the top with Tim GM all the way down.

I went in to pick up a screening tool. I had checked inventory ahead of time and it said they had 9 pieces of that tool. After looking around and getting some associate assistance, we determined they didn't have any of those tools. Great inventory system! I ended up going to Home Depot to get the device. They had numerous on hand.

it's a big store but there's always plenty of help when you need it. Also plenty of parking. There's room for wheelchairs in the aisles. They carry a lot of household cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, rugs and other items that don't pertain to actually building a home. They also have a great selection of hanging pots and other flowers and plants. I just love to go there.

I was disappointed with my last couple of trips as when I needed to find an employee, once approaching and eye contact was made, they break away. Overall, the employees I interacted with didn't seem interested in assisting. Quite a difference from the Home Depot down the street where the employees were very helpful.

I'm just not a fan of Menards for several reasons.. Main one being the way it's laid out.. It makes no sense at all! Lowes, makes sense & is convenient.. Seems like Menards is trying to start up a gym cause ya gotta run all over the store.. Tool selection sucks.. And what's up with the groceries being sold there?!! Yeah, not a fan of Menards...
