A fantastically large selection of material and craft supplies for any project you want to do. The material selection is excellent and has about anything you'd want. Prices are decent and usually has a sale going on. Great selection of upholstery, curtain, felt, satin, everything and almost every type of material and polyfill you'd want for any project. If you need something that's hard to find Joanne's probably has it. Highly recommend this craft store.

First time at your store horrible experience was looking for a specific product item. When I had an interaction with two staff members I ask where I might find an item she stuck her arm and finger out and said over there I said could you be more specific seasonal the finger pointer stated. I said could what row is that the other said like up front. I said thanks great assistance. I had about 80.00 pick out laid it down and walked out.

Excellent experience. Store has a great selection and is clean. If I get stuck on a project and need help they will help with suggestions. Also, they always have coupons on their app making shopping that much easier. Would love to see update checkout kiosks for quicker checkout during busy times. Overall a great store to go to!!!

Saturday 12/3/22 - I scheduled a curbside pick up and no one came out to help once I had arrived. So I parked my car and went inside. Though the register line was long, the only person I could find to ask for help, was the young lady at the register. She said she called for assistance when she saw me, but no one came out to help. She called again and another lady finally came out. So sorry I interrupted your chat session in the back. Note to Joann Fabric: The quickest way to loose good help is bad management.

I know nothing about sowing and my son ripped his brand new jacket in the armpit. They helped me find the right items to patch it and made sure I knew what to do. A week later and the patch is still holding. Pretty cool place.

I’m giving 3 stars because the store has all of the basic things one expects…it’s clean (including restrooms), it seems to be well organized, and I was greeted and offered help by each and every employee I encountered.However, as a fiber artist, specifically crochet and weaving, their selection of yarn and other items related to my craft are of most importance to me. So, they lose 1 star for selection, because out of all the JoAnn locations I’ve been to, this store has a very limited selection. And they lose a second star because of something no employee, manager or otherwise, was able to explain convincingly to me. They consistently put clearance yarns in the clearance bin with the regular price as the clearance price, or in some cases, $2 more than regular price. Right now, Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn has some discontinued colors on clearance for $7.99, which is regular price, or $9.99, which has never been the regular price. The main problem is obvious, but additionally, because they are coded as a clearance item, no coupons or sale %off prices apply! I always fume when I see this. It seems they are just hoping people won’t check the regular price and just assume the clearance price is a discounted price. Bad business, people!

It's very nice in here. Nicely organized with lots of DIY and craft supplies. The prices are a bit expensive, but thats to expect. I love their cake section. So many cool tools and ideas. If you love creating things, Joann's is the place for you!

Staff was very friendly and very helpful to answer a few of my questions, but they were pretty severely UNDERstaffed. Too few people trying to do too many things - it wasn't even a terribly busy time in the store, but they were struggling to meet needs. The employees that WERE there, again, though stretched too thin and literally running to help people, were supremely nice and helpful.

I stoped into the Joann’s store in Ankeny just about an hour ago to look for some stretch denim. To my surprise I found some! As the young lady was cutting I noticed this man walking around he seemed acting bossy. I just blew it off till I was checking out and the clerk ask for assistance. Guess who showed up at the register.. yes, mister boss! He proceeded to check me out with an attitude. My phone was giving me trouble an I ask him if he could do the 50% of coupon, he said no till other customers stepped in.. he reluctantly pulled his phone up and gave me to 50% off. He was mad, I ask him for my receipts, he through my receipts in a tiny bad with interfacing and walked off letting me with all my fabric I just purchased laying on the counter. He couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I can’t believe Joann’s would hire someone like this???? I know I don’t want to shop there as long as he is working there..

I just went to this store for the first time in awhile. They have actually cleaned it up. I had wrote in and told them their clearance section was awful and store was dirty and you can never find anyone on the floor that looks happy and will help you. The man that managed store use to yell at the girls right in front of customers. The store has done a 180. I will go there before going to Michaels. They also give Vets discounts just like Michaels.

I bought online to pick up in store, but somebody there couldn't find the merchandise even though it's where it should have been. The order was cancelled and it took 5 days to get the charge taken off my account. I brought the merchandise that they said they did not have, and ended up having a second charge on my card because they could not use the first charge to pay for the second purchase. Jo-Ann's online says it's up to the bank to drop the charge but the bank says they have no control over it and it's up to Jo-Ann's to get rid of it.

The availability of supplies is usually good. The staff at both Ankeny and Clive locations usually are clueless, slow and/or rude. Their system for online ordering and store pickup SUCKS!! I have had to wait in line for an hour due to their system issues. Online ordering and shipping to home works a little better, but comes from multiple stores and sometimes they cut the fabric weird to fulfill the order.

Yesterday I purchased the same amount of 3 pieces of fabric for a project. None of the fabrics were cut the same length. Two were cut 1” smaller than requested ( and paid for) and now are too small for my project. Normally I am happy with Joann’s, but evidently this worker didn’t care much about her job

If you need fabric Joann Fabrics and Crafts has it. If you want impeccable customer service and an overall delightful shopping experience, probably not the place. Also, I learned a secret about getting the fabric cut. Have them start one fabric for you and just go mill about finding others and bring them up while other customers wait. There was a lady that had her husband stand there, while she went and found more fabric. Instead of taking a new number and getting back in line.

I love shopping at Joann because of the variety of supplies they carry and the sales and coupons that they offer. However, something always seems to be in disarray at this location. Carts of new merchandise sitting unattended in front of empty shelves, missing signage, aisles in desperate need of tidying, staff complaining about their jobs to each other in front of customers, etc.

Joann's satisfies the need for a fabric store in Ankeny but I often find myself searching for newer and more modern prints. As well as a better apparel selection. Customer service is pretty good. One of the staff members went above and beyond for me by getting dirty to get a batting I needed that my arms were to short to reach. (She had to lay on the floor ) however they arent very careful when cutting their fabric which can make projects difficult. Always get more than you think you need.
