All staff masked, friendly, and very helpful. Great selection of indoor plants in excellent condition. Outdoor fall container plants picked over and sparce. Note to self: next year shop in early September; don't wait until early October!

I purchased a tree 9/21/2023 and paid to have it delivered and planted. I was told they were down to one person to do the planting and it would take approximately two weeks. Waited until 10/23/2023 to get my money back due to the fact the tree had not been delivered or planted and below freezing temperatures were in the forecast.

While the staff knows the information, all the indoor plants I’ve ever gotten here have died. I’ve gotten many others from different locations and have treated exactly the same and those have been thriving. Also don’t buy their Early May brand soil here, I had the worst fungus gnat infestation in a golden pothos I bought from here and tried to fix it multiple times only to find out it was the soil that was infested. It was a fresh unopened bag.

I love this place and the wonderful selection of plants but it was very upsetting to see that today a manager was treating an employee in such an unprofessional manor. These two wonderful girls were helping me out with some plants and giving advice and then, I assume, a manager came up and started to verbally correct them for one of their uniforms of all things right in-front of me. The poor girl was just wearing the wrong shirt on the wrong day but was still in uniform. Amazing place with great plants but I hate to see management bully such great staff members.

This is the place if you are looking for specialty products. The staff are friendly and very helpful, but not pushy. We have fun going and browsing as a family.

I was really impressed with their selection of house plants. We recently bought a few from Home Depot, and the second we walked in to Earl May I wished we hadn't bought those. Such healthy and well taken care of plants, we almost bought more. We were looking at plants for the yard for next spring and decided we'd be back here for sure

Extremely good experience. Very helpful staff and I was happy to see that they had plexiglass protector for staff at registers. I do wish however that more clientele would have tried to distance themselves and maybe wear masks. Most who didn't were younger. I'm sure if I were young I wouldn't worry so much about getting Covid, but I'm going to be 70 and if I get it, I might not get better. Maybe a couple of very politely written reminders to social distance might help people remember and might make your older clientele feel safer. Your flowers and plants are so beautiful and healthy. Thanks for being open.

Earl May sets the standard for creating the ideal place to shop . I bought all my trees & plants over the years there and last night we bought a Xmas tree there. Ryan wrapped it and tired it to the SUV for us. Every time my wife and I are there we receive outstanding service. Without hesitation They have taken care of any minor concern we have had. Ryan's great leadership from the front certainly sets the store Culture that every one there no matter what position is committed to the customer. As a Retail mgr myself I know how incredibly hard that is . its all about people and the Ankeny Earl May is the example all businesses should follow

I do not have a green thumb at all and came in for advice and the associate that helped me was extremely well informed and answered all my questions and gave me advice. This associate that I spoke to had a real passion for everything green and garden related, and I am thankful that he was working when I stopped in.

Purchased a canna plant and insecticide. Used my Fun Money to help pay for my purchases. The store was pretty quiet around 10:30 so was in and out quickly. The cashier was very friendly.

Had an issue this year with some lights on an artificial tree we had purchased December 2016. I explained the situation to Ryan the manager and he immediately took care of the problem. Exceptional customer service. Confirmed why we have been long time customers of EM.

Every time I go here I find exactly what I’m looking for. They have a wonderful and big selection of everything that you could need for planting/ gardening. I will say that they are slightly on the expensive side but I still recommend them all the time!
