2 Years in a row we ordered chicken for our sons bday party. One time in person and one time over the phone. 2 consecutive years our order was "lost" and not ready.I'd suggest ordering your chicken elsewhere when you have parties. Not reliable.

I bought a fried fish dinner there this afternoon and the fish smelled so disgusting! It stunk up my car and my house! I tried one small piece and threw the whole thing out! Never again!

I'm not sure where all the negative comments are coming from. Since moving to Whiting, Strack is my go-to store. The prices are always cheaper than the competition and they have a wide selection of cheeses and meats. I am here at least once per week and no one is ever rude to me or unpleasant.Sometimes the younger cashiers seem like they don't care about being there, but they're young cashiers at a grocery store. It's a part-time job and they're making the best of it. I rarely have any questions for the employees because I kind of wander and get what I need or want.The few times I have interacted with someone, outside of a cashier, they were always nice. I was looking at the milk one time and someone legit asked if I needed help. I put something back another time and one of the guys from the meat department thanked me for putting it back in its normal spot.Overall, it's not huge like a Mariano's is. It's not going to have your organic, high fiber prunes that your doctor wants you to eat 3x per day. The normal worker will not know if your child Mackenzeigh is going to enjoy the ice cream you bought. But Strack does have staff with a good attitude and an overly decent selection for a grocery store.

Tired of the cashier saying "do you want to round up your change".( Like my donation isn't going in vantils pocket.) Also there prepared food they have made at the deli, How long does it sit out? I've gotten sick a few times. Revised) why there's only one employee at the deli counter when it's almost noon?

Every time I go here something is always spoiled. Got chocolate donuts and came home and opened the box and it was completely covered in mold. They don’t rotate their shelves it seems like. Looks like I’ll be taking my business else where, store won’t last long anyway.

I live in Chicago and have visited this store several times in the lasts 15 years with my parents. My father is a fan of the store because of the lower prices but not always lower than Walmart and no sales taxes are being charged on your total groceries order. Every time I been to the store the checkout was fast, the cashiers friendly, the store was clean, the shelves for the most part were stocked. The parking lot has a tendency to get fairly crowed due to the fact it is a much smaller LOT space then say other stores located in and around Indiana area. The store offerings and item/product variety is much smaller than say your Walmart store which is JUST a short distance DRIVE from this store. I am a big fan of their desserts and just love the slices of birthday cake for $1.99 . I have gone to the store many times and again my father almost has to go here, with that being said……. For the lower prices, they DO accept ILLINOIS SNAP, NO SALES TAXES, FAMILIAR AS WELL AS UNFAMILIAR ITEMS, GOOD DESSERTS this can be the place to go or a go to for YOUR shopping NEEDS!!!

You would think having the highest priced groceries of any store they would ensure their products were satisfactory. I live close and go here often and I noticed alot of their food stuff is very close to the expiration date. Their produce is old and moldy, don't believe me go look for yourself everyday moldy berries and rotten fruits on the shelves. Meats often spoiled. Frozen items melted and refrozen. I'm always returning items and wasting time there. Many times I would buy food for parties just to open the food at the grill the day of and find it is no good. Whoever is in charge needs to not manage this place and stop hiring incompetent kids to handle food for the community. -5 stars if I could.

Usually I have no issues at this store. Its clean, the staff is polite but this time. I got the White lake perch that was on sale and it was very scalley, they had not cleaned it properly and I kept getting scales all over the place on this fish.

I am a frequent customer of the Whiting location, and a former employee as well. I've never had any issues until recently. The store is hardly stocked properly, customer service is horrible, and I've never been more disrespected in my life. Today, I purchased some groceries, and when I got home, realized I was charged for something that wasn't mine. When I tried to receive a refund, the customer service attendant, Judith Smith, was incredibly rude. She accused me of lying and stealing, and trying to extort then for money. I eventually got the refund, but this was unacceptable, especially from an old co-worker. This store has severely gone down hill

Not a huge selection of sandwiches and salads which I was looking for that specifically. I ended up getting something out of the frozen food section instead overall they are very good clean grocery store with a lot of options and good stock. But they do need to get fresher fruits because I have bought some old fruit from there before and I was very disappointed but this place is good for a quick stop.

Good place for emergency grocery shopping. But the prices are not the greatest! You gotta wait for a good sale in order to get a good deal. They have discontinued to carry certain pet food brands. And I haven't seen any baked goods at the discounted items table in the bakery section lately! But the variety and quality of items carried is the best!

Place is horrible with instacart orders everytime I come here it's an issue with my order.. one timeSomeone put in the system I pick it up my order and I never did. And I did another order that never even bother to start on until 15 mins after I've been sitting for my order after pick up time.

Compare sales prices, sometimes they have really good deals. Nice staff. Always extremely cold like maybe the meats are not so fresh. To go chicken is good..make sure it's freshly made and not under the heat lamp since yesterday.

Today I went in like everyother day with check. For some reason it didn't go thru. They handle it horribly yelling it a cross the checkouts refused to rerun it. Managers making up excuses why they wont come over to speak with me. I will never go back. I was loyal customer for 10 years.

Initially I was excited of this place because they offered a vast seafood selection that one would not commonly find in other grocers. Twice, I spent over $200 in seafood here and was more disappointed the second time I returned home vs this first. The lake superior white was spoiled both times. The first time I kind of excused it because I figured it was an off day for them, but I still maintained hope because I was in love with the thought of a grocer supplying such variety. A couple of weeks ago when I returned home to refrigerate the product, everything smelled rotten. I would rinse and individually wrap each piece, but ultimately that didn't do any good. The product was slimy and it's funny because it didn't appear that way in the showcased seafood section. Someone knows how to apply lighting well. The sad thing is, fish can sometimes smell fishy when it's a few days old. But when it taste like it's been in a dumpster for a week, one has no choice but to toss out the entire stock. It's almost as if they feel that people don't know or deserve better. I can't return.

My family has shopped at this location for over 20 years. The employees are always friendly and helpful. The managers are always on top of things and their customer service is excellent. Have gone to larger locations but prefer this smaller location because it feels more family oriented.

This location is smaller than the other stores but still has a good selection of food. But what I love and appreciate most is that they have efficient and friendly cashiers. Unlike Walmart, they have people working the cash registers and the wait time is reasonable.

This is my grocery store. Some of the folks working here watched my kids grow up, and now my grand kids! Management here is friendly and responsive to customers. It's not fancy, it's not "foodie", but you can get basic fresh groceries here at a decent price. I'm a believer in shopping at locally owned and operated stores.
