My client's husband only buys meat from Save a Lot because it's the only store in Union City to purchase meat. Today, I stopped to purchase 3 containers of ground chuck for them. I can attest to the fact that my husband has purchased the ground chuck and it is always fresh and great tasting. I live in Albany so I purchase my meat from Minar's IGA because it's the best meat, hands down.

They trifling in this location. We purchased some cook out things for memorial day. Meat, buns, sausages, hotdogs... Let me tell you about these hot dog buns... They had mouse droppings in the bags.... THEN WHEN WE RETURN TO TAKE THEM BACK... The woman helping us gon say oh we have mice that's been a problem for a while... 😤😤👀👀👀👀🤮🤮🤮 WHAT!?!! A WHILE???? Yea so I feel soo sorry for those who have no other food sources and have to purchase from this NASTY establishment. I have photos and have contact the health department. Zero Tolerance! This location needs to be SHUT DOWN until they seek pest control and clean up their act! Literally!!

The recent news of cadaver dogs hitting on over 20 spots on the former property of beloved Sav-a-lot founder and serial killer, Herb Bauermeister, led me to take a trip to my nearest store. I was pleased with the produce! It's December in Indiana and I'm loaded up on more fresh fruits and veggies than I imagined would be available at a discount store chain. Bulk items, large variety of foods, solid meat department, many international brands, and good selection of frozen foods. The atmosphere of fluorescent lighting and full shelves was enhanced by 2 young workers hustling and lightheartedly grunting to indicate who was lifting the most cans at a time. They were clearly making the best of their day and made short work of the pallet of green beans, carrots, peas, and corn. Overall great experience. 10/10 would recommend.As for Ol' Herb, he offed himself back in 1996, so I doubt he had much to do with today's positive experience.

For a bargain store, you can't ask for much more, except maybe a bit more attention to detail when it comes to cleaning. It isn't horribly messy, but the floors definitely need attention, as does the place where they have lard. 3 broken/leaking lard containers when I was there today.Overall, minor issues with great service and value products.

Who gets the floors sanded while customers are shopping and the food gets covered in dust? That said, the junk food is reasonably priced. It's obvious the owner expects everyone to do their serious shopping in Winchester or Greenville. Not a pleasant shopping experience.Update: Since then (and since it's the only grocery store in town), I've been back numerous times. Prices are surprisingly low, selection is decent, and since they haven't sanded the floors any more, my shopping experience is much more pleasant. They've greatly improved their fresh foods selection, too. So I added an additional star to my previous review.

Surprisingly low prices on most of the name brand items they carry. Meat and chicken selection looked decent as did the produce. Bring your own bags or use the boxes like you would at Aldi's. Could use a cleaning but not terribly dirty or anything of that nature.

I won't give a bad review except some people r so worried bout a couple things n that person said something to me but I've got a comment. I'm not the only person that parked/ parks by /near pop machines or the cement posts so was anything said to everybody else n was everybody else told they would b banned from the store if they were to park n those places again?! Prob not! I think it was kind of rude myself! 😱🙄

Great store. I have been shopping there for years and have always been treated well. They have just about every thing I need. There store brands are just as good as the name brands. Doug is a great manager!! He has really tried to make the store better for all of us. Thank you Save A Lot for not leaving us.

The only grocery store in town. Just thankful it's STILL here and not out of town! Good thing Union City has 3 gas stations to get out of town with !

prices continue to sky rocket bit at least there is a store in the town. while other stores have closed up shop this one has remained steady. the manager has been there since inception. lots more name brands seem to be hitting the shelves since there are no more stores left in town except the dollar General and family dollar both carry a small amount of fresh and frozen foods along with plenty of name brand snacks and sides. so I had given the store a 3 bumped it to 4 produce and prices and Mexico beef keep me from a 5 .

Got my vehicle broken into while shopping, they don't have cameras out in the parking lot. Been over charged multiple times and they make you go home and "make sure" before you get a refund!

Brand names items for great prices. Love the meat department. Quality tasting products for a fraction of the cost. And they open registers due to flow of customers so you're in and out

Great prices love that I can always find what I'm looking for. There is only one thing I sont like and that's the water now that's its changed I have tried it but the water has a really disgusting taste so i did stop buying the water.

I grew up in this small town and as a child this was my favorite place to go. I haven’t been living in Rockport for a solid 12 years. It used to be named IGA when I was a small child. It’s still one of my favorite places to go. Great service. Everyone is friendly as always.

The pop prices were good. Reminded me of aldis and krogers combined but with cheaper prices. I enjoyed shopping someplace new.

It's concerns me that I spend time disinfecting my cart to safely put my groceries in, just to have my groceries put into the cart from the person using it in front of me.. Doesn't make sense at this point

You can't beat the prices here at this store. They carry mostly off brand items but do carry some name brands, have a large fresh meat selection, and accept coupons.

The Manager or owner is very unprofessional. You should never scold an employee in front of a customer or in front of another employee. Not to mention he very rude to customers.

A Save-A-Lot is a Save-A-Lot what can I say. But at least it is something different than Walmart.

They need to change the name from save a lot to spend a lot. They're just as expensive as Walmart and Kroger.
