I know that Gillman‘s has different stores around the state and maybe even other states so it may not be a local hometown kind of lumberyard. However, this place is very much a hometown lumberyard. It is local people helping local people with their lumber and home repair needs.When we have lived other places, the closest was the big orange box store with HD on the front. I disliked very much going there. However, this place, which also has orange on its front, is a place that I do not mind going to. The people are helpful and knowledgeable and if you have a question that they can’t answer right then, they will do their best to get an answer for you.We like our local hometown lumberyard ~ aka Gillian’s.

The store is open until 6 so why are you locking the doors 5 til when someone is trying to walk in and having to unlock it as people checking out are leaving. Leave the light on and the door unlocked until the time you close.

I cannot recommend this store and staff member Richard enough. I am not from new castle and had rented a trenching machine from somewhere else in my town weeks prior and they canceled on me last minute and gave the machine to someone else instead. I call the new castle gillmans store in a panic because I was on a tight schedule to get this job done and Richard got to work and set me right up right away. He quickly got me the trenching machine ready, loaded it on a trailer for me, changed my ball on my hitch for me to be able to pull it and all for a great price. It worked great and got the job done on right on time. He was so helpful and kind. Highly recommend him and this company and will be using them for our needs in the future

Love having Gillman's close by here in town, but I'll never rent equipment from them again. Rented a trencher for a day that was sold as a 6" wide x 48" deep cut. Went outside to pick it up and no one helped with hooking up the trailer or the loading of it. Chains/tie downs weren't even included for transport. Loaded it up myself, got home and started working. After finishing (I thought) the 150' trench for the 4" tile, it wouldn't fit! I measured the trench and it did only a 4" wide cut! I had to hand dig the whole trench afterwards to even fit the tile down into it. Told the employees in the back of the issue with it and was not given any kind of compensation or response as to why it could not even get close to what it was being sold as. It was a complete waste of time and $250 for me.*Reply for the Owner:*No resolution was given, so I'm not sure where you're getting this information from? I told them of the issue when I was returning it and they said they would talk to the rental guy about it, whoever that is. Never heard back from them about it. The gas tank was even empty when I got it, which I turned it back in with a full one (per the posted instructions to do so).

They have enough workers but none of them seem willing to help out a customer. They have their lumber set up to the side of the main building and there's no one to help you and also no prices on anything. Walked about 5000 steps back and forth and not finding out anything. Will not go back if I don't have to.
