Dr John and his staff are amazing. They took very good care of King, even though he wasn't so nice to Dr John. We had to put King down yesterday and Dr John and his assistant were so very compassionate even to the point of climbing up in the bed of the truck to help us get King wrapped up and secure for our trip back home to bury him. We would highly recommend Dr John and his services to anyone who has a pet. Thank you all for your kindness and mercy in this time of our life. The Matthews Family

My Apollo has been going here since we first got him as a tiny pup. He's always been treated absolutely wonderful. All of our questions have always been answered and we've never been robbed. Their pricing is very fair. We can't wait to get our new pup Leela in to be seen.

Terrible. It’s bad enough having to put down a beloved family pet. It’s worse having to deal with RUDE and UNCOMPASSIONATE veterans who will tell you to immediately afterwards to go up front, pay the fine, and hurry up and leave because they close soon. Was not only rushed out, but also yelled at by the vet themselves saying “You should’ve brought them in earlier! Not to rush you or anything, but we closed 10 minutes ago.” This service is unlike any I’ve ever encountered & it baffles me that a vet clinic would have workers like this. Very upsetting.

What is even sadder than this place having no compassion or empathy for their clients, they also reply to every negative comment with some sort of excuse for their poor behavior. You are supposed to be professionals if you can’t treat every case with the same care and respect both the animal and owner deserve than you probably shouldn’t be practicing, regardless of “how stressed the team was that day”

Will be my only trip to this place. Had to schedule a last min appt for my cat because he got sick out of nowhere. Things went south quick and we had to put him down. The whole time I’m grieving and processing the loss, I’m being yelled at and rushed by employees. They all have no emotions or empathy towards the grieving process. Will never come back.

Dr. Hageman and his team are amazing! They took such great care of our dog! I would not trust anyone else with our sweet pup! They truly care about the health and well being of the animals they care for! I will be recommending them to anyone looking for a veterinarian from now on!

I appreciate the urgency this facility demonstrated in order to schedule in my dog but Dr. Hageman was so unnecessarily rude and short with me that this place has lost my business. I was interrupted, told I didn't know what I was explaining and he zoomed back out of the room after referring me elsewhere before I could ask all of my questions. I'll be making sure my friends and family who need a vet recommendation never attends this place because no one deserves to be treated like that. Customer service should be of utmost importance.

Took one of my cats to Monticello animal hospital because she wasn't eating. The vets discovered that she had a couple of bad teeth and needed removed. The vets cleaned her teeth and removed two molars. Within a week my kitty was back to normal. Great Job!

We’ve been a customer of Monticello Animal Hospital for over 20 years. The veterinarians are very knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. The office staff is very courteous and efficient at getting us an appointment often times the same day. The vet techs are great with animals and we always feel very welcome in this office. We purchase heart guard and flea prevention medicine here and do the vaccinations recommended. We receive efficient reminder postcards in the mail when it’s time for updated vaccinations. I highly recommend this veterinarian service!

We found a kitten roaming around the lake and befriended her. She took to us so well. We took her to Monticello Animal Hospital as we wanted to take her home. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant and treated us like family. We like them so much we drive in from Chicago to have Tootsie treated there. We trust them and appreciate their professionalism and personal attention to not only Tootsie but us. See you in August!

I was going here for seven months and I was never even able to go inside to see how they were with our dog. He was having stool issues. They did not even take a stool sample they sent us home with an antibiotic and a steroid then told us to follow up if he was still having issues. We called and said that he was still having issues and they wouldn’t even see him they told us to go to Purdue. We went to another animal hospital and he was diagnosed within 24 hours with Giardia. He is on the right medication now and I will never be going back to this animal hospital again. If your dog is sick… do not take them here.

My dogs have been to this clinic and I called today regarding my Westie. He had an abscess on his face that had ruptured. It was actively bleeding. The first attempt at reaching the clinic, the phone just rang and rang. Tried again and the lady listened to why I wanted to bring him in. She said the earliest she could get him seen was tomorrow afternoon. I said that he was bleeding and she suggested I see if another vet could see him today. No compassion, no suggestions, didn’t even ask any questions or go ask the vet if they could squeeze him in today.They have lost this family - I will not bring my dogs there and will not recommend them. It’s a shame because Dr Hageman is so sweet.

They are amazing. We just pulled up and they took our baby in and had him back out to our car in less than five minutes. You cannot beat the value or the care. I will never take him anywhere else. Every visit reinforces why we bring him here.

I have come to Monticello Animal Hospital multiple times to see Dr. Jewell. I think she is amazing. She is kind, patient, and explains everything. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Dr. Hageman. He was condescending and dismissive. I was completely ready to take my cat to Purdue and spend the extra money there than at his clinic when he slid my cat away from me and proceeded to call me "cocky" in the argument that followed. I do not believe "cocky" is the right word to describe a person who is upset that you slid their cat away from them with no explanation whatsoever. We both apologized after, me more so that we could actually focus on helping my cat which is why I came there, and he explained the reasoning behind his actions, but the damage was done. It does not matter if you are having a stressful day, how young someone appears, or how much experience you have- you do not speak to someone like that. I adore Dr. Jewell and greatly appreciate everything she has done for my pets, but I cannot contribute to Dr. Hageman's hospital anymore.

They got me in within minutes of calling about my very sick cat. The Doctor came outside to explain everything to me. It's never easy loosing your fur baby, but the staff was so caring that it made a little more less painful.

For 13 years we have been patients of Dr. John Hageman, Dr. Savannah Jewell and Monticello Animal hospital. Our pets have received excellent care from knowledgeable and caring doctors at a reasonable price. Their staff is friendly and kind. I highly recommend this Veterinarian practice.

Took a barn kitty in with head trauma. Likely hit by a car. Appreciate that he was fit in on a busy day as he obviously needed to be seen. There was a break down in communication between the staff and myself and I left feeling like not enough had been done for my kitty. Dr. called me back today to speak with me and I do feel better about the appointment and I am aware he was fit in where they didn't really have space but if just a few extra minutes had been spent with me discussing the plan for the little guy the day of the appointment I would have been a lot more comfortable.

We were on vacation in Monticello and our dog came down with a severe ear infection. We were able to get him in the same day we called. The facility was was great and the treatment was better. The Dr. and staff were caring and very professional. We received a full explanation of the infection and treatment plan. The price was also extremely reasonable. We couldn’t have been happier.

This is no ordinary veterinary clinic. The entire staff is kind and caring. In my experience, they can be counted on in an emergency.They have helped me through a dog with a split ear from a fence wire, a dog with an injury from another dog, dental work on a cat, spaying and and neutering services, rountine exams and vaccinations, and most recently, the compassion euthanasia of my beloved cat.I highly recommend Monticello Animal Hospital to everyone.

I visited Monticello Animal Hospital after my dog was bitten by a stray dog. Dr. Hageman saw my dog as a walk-in and it was a very good experience for pet and owner alike. Friendly staff, beautiful facility, caring vet. I am very pleased with my visit and would certainly return.
