They are very helpful, very busy, and lots of animals always in their care to choose from. If more people would consider taking in some of these animals or foster some. Help to give them time away and a chance to have a better life. This shelter is very nice, but it is still hard for the animals to not have a home. Please remember to chip, spay/neuter, foster, or adopt your animals from shelters.

They don't respond to online applications.Visited in person with my whole family due to seeing a dog online in which we were interested.While we didn't have time that day to stay and go through the application process, we did see that the same dog was still available online a couple of days later. So we filled out an application and waited. Nothing. Not even as much as a thank you for your interest.... eventually, we see this particular dog is no longer available. Still nothing.If you had/have a director of patron experience, you would reach out with a follow-up. Maybe try to figure out what piqued our interest in this particular animal and try to match us with another. We did eventually receive an email after 3 weeks or so.

I have adopted every single one of my pets from a humane society and this was an awful experience. Insensitive workers who did not keep their word on paying for my cats rabies shots (that I prepaid) when I adopted him. Would not adopt from here again. Going to stick with Indianapolis Humane society going forward with adopting.

My boyfriend and I tried adopting from here. I had mylandlord’s information wrong so I called back to fix it. They got all suspicious about it and even called my landlord and said “James?” When they have his name. They called my landlord and got his approval. They went through all of that trouble just to call me back and say “we’re denying your application because you said the dog would be out on a lead.” Me and my boyfriend never once said that. We think they had underlying reasons. They also treat the animals inhumanly and I heard they kill animals. It’s disgusting. Moral of the story, never adopt from here. Adopt from somewhere that actually cares about their animals, how they’re treated, and where they go.

Mostly pitbulls up for adoption. And a bit pricey. I went to Indy Humane Society and they helped find me my perfect match, a beautiful ragdoll mix kitten! Had all shots, was neutered, & microchipped, for only $10! He's the most perfect kitty in the world. He's been approved by my doctor to be my Emotional Support cat!!! I love "Jude," in which I renamed him "Angelo, " because he's my angel!!!

They seem to have their stuff together from their reviews. However, I put in my application on a Friday. They called me on Monday, while I was at work(cant have my phone on me there), so couldn't answer. Tried calling back. No awnser. Called agian. No awnser. So far I've called a total of 8 times over the span on the whole day. Not once did they awnser the phone. Hard to think they want to have people adopt when they won't pick up the phone, and they are "appointment only" so you cant even go in.

We adopted a dog in October of 2018 and they told us all the obvious problems with him and failed to mention any internal issues he had. Come to find out he had a liver disease and the humane society knew about it and failed to give us prescriptions and diets he was supposed to be on. We sadly had to say goodbye to our 5 year old baby April 2019.

A place with no sincerity or feelings. My 9yr old Daughter and I were promised, for almost a week, the 1st opportunity to adopt a kitten. Then suddenly, they refute our application and move onto another adopter. My Daughter is heartbroken! Do NOT apply to adopt at this Society.

went in on a Saturday looking for kittens fell in love with one so we drove in on Monday to get him but they were closed 4 hours early despite what their website said. Very upset to say the least. Now we’re worried our kitten we want will be adopted 😞

Very small selection of pets to choose from. We went on "Adoption Sunday" an hour before they closed amd they had one 15yr old cat. The only dog they had was not there- she was at her foster home.It was very disappointing.
