I got to say that the location wasn't what I would want to feel comfortable, but she did a fantastic job and is very knowledgeable. My dog didn't come back to me all stressed and crying to come back to me. I would recommend her to anyone.

Twice in one week I called Sue- I got her information from the local wildlife center when I called them about possibly helping some sparrows with a fallen nest- the wildlife center would not take them. I was able to successfully help the sparrows by making a makeshift nest and I could identify the parents continuing to care for them. Later in the week, I called Sue about 5 free baby chickens my dad came across- they were less than a week old. Both times Sue answered immediately, and no questions asked- she said bring them. Upon bringing the chicks in, mind you it was after 6pm on a Friday, she provided great information about the chicks, but also took them in. There aren't enough words to praise you Sue!!! I appreciate your knowledge, and sincere willingness to help! Thank you so much for all you do!

TL;DR This place was one of the closest and few places willing to take in a baby sparrow I had found. I didn’t get to see much as far as care, but I’m satisfied and the property looked well cared for by an individual that seems to be devoted to nature all around.I was actually recommended to this place while calling around for a wildlife rescue that would take in a baby sparrow I had found. The lady who answered the phone was a bit curt and direct, but I told me I was welcome to come by at anytime because they run the business from their home. I could hear barking and rushed movement in the background so I assumed she was in the middle of some animal-related chaosIn short: the property is secluded but homey. A very cozy style that lends itself the forestry around it. There’s even signs stating that a portion of the property is officially (and legally, I assume) dedicated to preservation. I digress. The front door wasn’t clearly marked so myself and someone boarding their dog weren’t sure where to go initially. Within a minute or two, someone was at one of the doors near that office door. A lady (I assume to be the same one from the phone) poked her head out and inquired if I had called about a bird. I just confirmed and she quickly plucked the little thing out of the box. A quick thank you. Like I said, curt and direct. It didn’t feel rude or anything though. Right afterwards, she just addressed the person behind me so I walked off. There was a few dogs barking behind a fence but they looked cared for. Saw that they had pigeons in a cage nearby too. That’s all. This probably doesn’t count as “short” anymore.

I took a baby sparrow there and she was so nice to care for him. No one else seemed to want to help. What a great person she is and the place is awesome looking. And she was grooming a dog and the dog looked so relaxed. I live an hour away but it was worth the drive.

while I was driving in Elmhurst I spotted a pigeon on the road that appeared to be stuck. there were lots of cars driving over it and I quickly realize it would probably be hit soon if it didn’t get out do the road. I pulled over and managed to get onto the road and pick him up and run over to a sidewalk. next thing I knew I’m sitting in my car with a pigeon wrapped up in my jacket and no clue what to do. i called the wildlife center that was closest me and they referred me to Country Pet Retreat saying saying that she’d be able to help me. I gave her a call and before I even asked a direct question, she told me to bring it over. I drove the 40 minutes to this place and she quickly came out and took my little pigeon friend and said that she’d be able to help him. i think it’s really cool that they’re willing to help birds that other wildlife centers would not take in. I hope my little pigeon friend is doing well, and I’m thankful that a place like this exist!

Amazing place! We found a baby bird for dead on our driveway, it must have just been born. We kept it warm and called around and were sent to her. She took the bird and said it will make it and take good care of it. She saves wildlife at her own expense. She handled the bird like a Veterinarian. God bless Sue, she is an amazing person!

This place is great. We were worried with our 1 year old German Shepard, who has never been without us, we left him for 1 week. Sue was great, our dog seemed very happy, and gave her a smile and a nod on the way out. He seemed very well taken care of there highly recommended, we will be back.

Having lived in the Warrenville area for the last twenty years, I know that Sue, owner of Countryside Pet Retreat not only takes great care of the pets left in her charge but the owners as well. She has always been accomodating and willing to go the extra mile. My dogs (she has taken care of two) both like the Kennel and show no fear or reservation about staying there . We are currently moving out of state and my only hope at the new residence is to find someone as good as her when boarding my dog.

Tucked away so it really feels like a retreat. Large kennels for boarding, my anxious dog Finn handled the boarding experience well.Very reasonable prices. Nice people. They also do grooming.

I had a great experience here! My dog (a shepherd mix) got a very bad case of matted burrs on her belly from a burr weed in our garden. I called and she took us right away and got all the burrs out! The groomer was very helpful and accommodating. Thank you for helping my dog so last minute!

Thr owner took in wild baby house sparrow I found when no other rescue wanted to take it. The other "rescue" said they would put it down due to not accepting that species. I didn't want that fate for a perfectly healthy little bird. The owner didn't even hesitate when I called to make sure they could take care of it. A very kind soul and I have no doubt that the baby will be saved. Thank you for what you do!

We have brought our dogs here for several years now. She provides healthy food and walks them, and they are always fine when we return. Also very reasonable pricing so it doesn't cut down on our vacation.

I brought a house sparrow fledgling here and she took it in which most rehabbers will not do! Her property was very cute and I felt so thankful for her helping the lil guy!

The owner was very sweet--If you do drop off an abandoned or hurt animal and let her rescue it don't forget to offer a tip. Everything she does for the wildlife in the area is at her own expense. Such a great soul!

Just a call says a lot. Sue should learn how to talk to a potential customer. Sue clearly has no personal skill in running a business.

Kind kind woman she loves animals so much that she takes in injured animals that the state-funded rehabilitation centers can't take because they're non-native species or out of room. I would trust her with my animals.
