Had a beautiful experience from the get-go. Spacious for 2 plus a furry babe (caribou cottage) and inviting.Neighborhood was lovely, right downtown in walking distance to food, drinks, coffee.Owner was accessible and very accommodating. Breakfast was good ! Jacuzzi was probably the best part of our stay, super relaxing. Will definitely be back.

In town for a skydiving event for 6 days, four individuals in four separate bedrooms. The host is incredibly accommodating, since we leave at 430 in the AM, the included breakfast of the bed and breakfast didn't really work for us so they provided us with lunches instead the night before so that we had box lunches every day. Absolutely delicious sandwiches and the homemade pastries were incredible. One of our group is a vegan and they provided vegan meals for him. The host was extremely responsive to all of our requests. The kitchen has tons of pots and pans and cutting boards and utensils if you like to cook, far better than most rentals. Absolutely would recommend.Small thing, not the owners fault in any way....if you are a light sleeper, the train comes through very late sometimes and can be loud. I slept through it every time but other roommates noticed repeatedly, so your mileage may vary. Not a reflection on the service, cleanliness, location etc. All parts of the place that are managed by the owners are 11 out of 10.

This place is lovely - perfect location walking distance from bars and restaurants. We stayed in the Serengeti cottage and it was really cool layout and design. It felt like a quaint hotel with a lot of character rather than a bed an breakfast; such a cool set up! Everything was clean and really well maintained. Great amenities and service. Breakfast was delivered to our room by the nicest gentleman that owns the antique store 2 doors down and it was delicious. Truly a great place to stay!

My husband and I just got back from a hiking trip at Starved Rock and we stayed here for 2 nights. We had our dog with us so we booked the Caribou cottage as that's the pet friendly option. It had an open living/kitchen area and lofted queen bed, screened in front porch and cool American Frontier decor. The place was clean and well maintained and breakfast was delivered each morning. All essentials were supplied (towels, mugs, etc) and for anyone who still likes to watch tv/movies on vacation (we can't be the only ones!), the internet connection was great and their tv even had Netflix! We've stayed in some places that had terrrrrible internet and it does make things frustrating so to me, this is worth noting. There are a few different firepits and seating areas in the garden space and the location to downtown was so convenient! All of the main restaurants were a block away and most offered dine in or takeout - Skoogs and Joy and Ed's were delicious and the ice cream shop was yummy! We would definitely stay again if we were in the area!

We stayed in the “south of the border” room. There were lots of ants crawling around the suite. The breakfast was a warmed up frozen hash brown and sausage with a non homemade pastry. No fresh juice or coffee. Not worth the price per room for a night!

We really enjoyed our stay at Landers House. We were in one of the lodges. The decor was beautiful. The breakfast was delicious each day. Our room was very clean. There were only a couple small things like the door handle was broken and the bed squeaked (but was very comfortable). This was a quiet location. We felt very relaxed. Around the corner there are a number of restaurants and a small market. We'd highly recommend!

This was my first time staying at the bed and breakfast. I enjoyed my stay at Lander's House. We stayed in the Creel Cottage. It was cutely decorated and very clean. I was impressed with the amenities they had. My favorite was the fireplace. Since it was winter during our stay, we were not able to enjoy the backyard, but it was available to us. The snow was shoveled, so getting to our cottage was easy. A pancake and sausage breakfast arrived exactly on time and was tasty. We ordered a chocolate-covered strawberry package that they were unable to fulfill. We weren't given any restitution for it, but we also were not charged. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the shower had lots of water pressure. They give their guests lots of privacy. I would recommend this bed and breakfast especially to anyone who is visiting Starved Rock since its about a 5 minute drive away.

We really enjoyed our stay here! It's very close to Starved Rock, which was the purpose of our visit -- quick 5 minute drive to great hiking trails at the park. The inn is also conveniently located a block away from the small but vibrant business strip in North Utica, with most restaurants offering outdoor dining during covid. We got the log cabin themed room at the inn. A bit small, but very cutely decorated. Comfy bed, free wifi and private bath. There is a lovely garden behind the main house to hang out in too.Staff was quite friendly, wearing masks. Indoor common areas were closed during covid, but that's understandable. Big tasty breakfast was brought to our room each morning nice and hot. Though our room had no good table space to eat it, but we made due by eating breakfast in bed!Definitely would recommend, and we will return here again when we want a pleasant stay near beautiful Starved Rock State Park.

Spent the weekend at Landers house in one of the cottages. The themes are very cute and added something special to our stay. The staff was fantastic and very attentive and the rooms very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was delivered to our room and very tasty. Loved the location, walking distance to fantastic restaurants, wine tasting room and a short drive to Starved Rock and Matthiessen park. We will definitely stay here again.

It was a really amazing weekend. Minutes away from several parks, including Starved Rock. Quiet neighborhood and easy parking. Walking distance from several restaurants. The jacuzzi was plenty big for two people and the mini fridge was great. Big comfortable bed on the second floor. The breakfast was great as well! My only negative comment is about the skylights. It got pretty bright upstairs by 7am. Overall a really positive stay and I would definitely come again!

We had a wonderful stay in La Noche cottage! The decor transported us to a lovely Mexican villa so we felt like we were far away from home in a warm paradise. The staff was very accommodating and delivered a delicious breakfast that fit our dietary restrictions. We might be in the minority on this, but my husband and I like to cook at home a lot, so my only feedback is that it might be helpful to have more basic kitchen supplies and maybe a small hot plate you could plug in to heat up meals. With COVID and all, it’s nice to limit your outside exposure when traveling. Thanks for a great stay!

My boyfriend and I had an incredible stay in the Mountain Lodge suite. The host was so gracious, hospitable and kind. Check in was easy, communication was professional and once I accidentally locked myself out of the room and the host was there within minutes to unlock the door for me.Breakfast is deliciousVery cozy but just spacious enoughIf I am ever in the area again I will only be staying at Lander's House

We stayed in the log cabin (1 room with bathroom) and it was perfect for our weekend. We spent most of the time exploring Starved rock and the little downtown Utica, but the place was clean and I loved the breakfast they served each morning. They were quick to respond to my questions and gave us privacy. Will come back again and maybe check out the cottages.

We stayed in the cottage called la noche. It was an absolute little gem! The cottage itself was very pleasing to the eye. Very decorative. The furniture is comfy! The whirlpool was very relaxing and soothing after a long day of hiking. The fireplace next to the bed is a brilliant idea! It got toasty real quick!!! The breakfast that was delivered to our door every morning was delicious! No fast food type of garbage. Very filling! It was cool to pick our time to have it dropped off! The staff is super nice and more than helpful to make yr stay as beautiful as it should be:)! The experience speaks for itself. There is absolutely nothing that is boring. Theres bars and restaurants literally right around the corner! A whole street of them. Scooges has awesome food! And the pizzeria is hands down one of the best pizzerias around. There is everything you need within walking distance. We did a escape room which is down the block....and that was super fun! Again, very pleasant people there as well! Everyone is so nice in utica! I would highly recommend this for an any time trip! La noche i would personally say would be great for couples, only because im not so sure where anyone else would sleep. Unless they camped out on the floor. Overall, very very satisfied and we will definitely be back!

Terrific little weekend getaway spot! My girlfriend and I stayed in La Noches for a few nights for a hiking trip at Starved Rock State Park. The accommodations were cozy and well-kept. Breakfast was promptly delivered to our door every morning of our stay at 9am, which is the time we chose. Everyone was so friendly and the location is right next to a number of charming bars and restaurants in downtown Utica.

We love the Lander's House! Stayed here a couple of times now and they are very accommodating. The rooms/cabins are so unique! We hope to keep coming back until we've had a chance to stay in each room or cabin. The served breakfast is absolutely delicious! I would recommend to ANYONE.

Rather than leave a standard review, I'd like to relay a little story about our recent stay at Lander's House.I had gotten ill and my girlfriend and I needed to leave town fairly quickly. Unfortunately, she forgot to grab her medications in our haste. It wasn't until we got home in Michigan that we realized what we missed. Peter went out of his way to find the medicine and a way to ship them to us on a weekend.Peter takes care of his guests (even after their stay!) and is very easy to get a hold of if there are any questions.

When you stay at a bed and breakfast, sometimes you can be "put off" by the inn keeper being overly friendly. Not here. They don't greet you at all when you arrive and give you breakfast as though it was a chore (which I'm sure it is).The owners are "out of state" so this is an investment not a passion. The room we were in was waaaay overpriced. I am disappointed that we allowed ourselves to spend that much. Sometimes you splurge and it is okay because you get "value for money". That is not (was not) the case. The place is not furnished well. It is furnished in the best the garage sales in the area had to offer. And the furnishings were sparse compared to other B&B's.In our rooms there was a love seat and we sat in it. We needed a bit bigger place to sit. There were no tables for coffee cups. The bed was nice. The pillows were great. The blinds in our room had been broken and then repaired. You could clearly see the repairs. The room was very hard for someone to clean as there were many fake, plants that gathered dust.

Stayed at the Serengeti cottage on a trip to starved rock and all I can say is, wow! This place was beautiful - great theming, very comfortable and private, 100% clean, great communication from Peter. Wifi, tv, jacuzzi, mini kitchen. Loved staying here, located 5 mins from starved rock and right around the corner from the main street in town.

Very friendly staff and big, tasty breakfast. Nice cottages, but the heater in the fisherman house is too high up on the wall - so the main area is significantly colder than the bedroom. Not a huge issue, just needs to be kept in mind.

My wife and I stayed a couple nights in the La Noche cabin. The star-like lights in the ceiling were very romantic at night and the breakfast far exceeded my expectations... so good! Location was great too. Minutes away from Starved Rock and Matthiessen. Driving there and back was a breeze.
