A caring and helpful staff. The animals are well cared for as they wait for families to adopt them. We've been patiently looking for the the right dog for months. We finally found him. Thanks, Friends!

Adopted a sweet baby from FRIENDS OF STRAYS and had to take her back less than 24hrs later, we got her from PetSmart with her little card that said she showed up with kittens. Very little information. Filled out an application and stated we had other pets in the home & a small child. Got approved in an hour and could pick her up whenever. We get her home and IMMEDIATELY has issues with our current animals, up all night with everyone fighting each other. I just don’t understand why when reviewing the application you would approve us if you knew the cat was not good with other animals. I feel so bad for this sweet baby because she really is a great girl but needs to be in a home with NO pets.

I adopted a beautiful 3 Legged cat. She's perfect, loveable, loves to cuddle, good with dogs, cats and young kids. Definitely recommend! Will be back later for another adoption when the time is right!

I am a volunteers there great granddaughter. So when I visited her I found my new baby. He is perfect. All of the animals there are perfect and loveable. They just need a second chance at life. My grandmother also adopts some of the dogs from there. Her new dog was iffy on kids at first but then at the end of the visit loved me. The animals just need a chance to adjust to new surroundings and areas. But totally recommended going to adopt your new furry friend.

Although the animals there are friendly and lovable, they are not kept in good conditions. I intern-shipped here for about 2 weeks until I had to quit. The cats were kept in rooms together whether they were sick or healthy. There was 3 adult black cats in one room they were sick and had boogers every-time they sneezed. They did not enough stimulation related toys in the rooms with the amount of cats they had in them. The cats would come up an scratch you, make you bleed, I had a gash in my thigh that had bruised from how deep the cat put its claws in my, and I was wearing jeans. The lady says they clip their claws every week, but they clearly do not if the claws can get that sharp in just a week. There was two little kittens in a cage meant for a dog. I never once saw them get out and roam around like they should be able to. I do not believe this place should be up any more, and if it is, then please let people who are younger and more capable of up keeping with the animals. I'm very disappointed in the place.

Went and adopted a 4 month old kitten from petsmart and the card said sweet and fun about him and its not true. He has 100% hardly been socialized. He has attacked me and my 84 year old father in law in the home and refuses to let you get within 8 feet from him. If i were to have my step children in my home this weekend, they too would of been attacked im sure and thats putting my kids at risk, lying about the friendliness of an animal. After reading many of these reviews im very upset with petsmart working with them as they do not seem to be a very fit shelter. I will be calling tomorrow morning when they open to discuss my issues with their facility.

Idk but I think I adopted a sick cat from them through Petco. I adopted 2 cats, one has behavioral issues. The other has diarrhea and vomits everywhere and eats it own feces since I got him. I believe it’s a parasite. As soon as we signed and adopted our cats, each employee at Petco made sure we got it through our heads to see a vet ASAP. Seeing these cats came from a branch of the Humane Society, wouldn’t they take better care and handle these issues?..or just leave the burdens for the new owners? I’m thinking on returning the cat to them, but I rather give him to a home where that can afford to give him much more needed care than usual, instead of sending him back because a few other reviews speak of receiving sick cats.

I adopted the sweetest cat there. I was going to get a kitten and Bev asked me to try this older kitten because she wasn’t social and they were afraid that she was going to get adopted. So I adopted her and brought her home and she’s fitting in just fine. She is the most lovable kitten/cat that I’ve ever seen. Thank you FRIENDS OF STRAYS! 😽

Not clean and crowded. Don't think the lady knows much of what shes doing... and the "vet tech" said she had no clue who the kitten i was holding was... yet when i adopted him she came out and gave me the antibiotics he had supposedly been on with instructions, yet she had no clue who he was??? Makes no sense. Adopt an animal from here and save them please.

Adopted a cat. Asked before taking "have vet tell me what this is on cat's skin, because it doesn't feel right in a couple places on his lower back." Was told vet says cat got scratched by other cats. Took cat home. After a week or so the spots got worse, so took cat to my own vet. Was told the cat has ring worm. Now my other cat also has ringworm. Now I myself also have ringworm. Plus new cat has "cat herpes" which is some kind of lung infection that nobody told me about and my old cat caught this "highly infectious disease" and almost died and needed antibiotics and lost weight and is still not o.k. At this point, after owning new cat for two months, I have spent close to $700 on both cats plus more on my own ringworm. And all of us still have ringworm. It is not going away. AND I ASKED FOR THEIR VET TO TELL ME WHAT IT WAS BEFORE I EVEN BOUGHT THE CAT. AND THEY SAID IT WAS SCRATCHES. Friends of Strays are definitely not friends. They sold me a cat that had both an infectious lung disease and contagious ringworm. Do NOT buy a pet from them or you will regret it more than you can imagine.

The staff was so terrific while we got to know Meeka at PetSmart in Peoria 5 years ago. There were other applicants for Meeka but it was meant to be when I saw her coming out of the van.

I was jus there to see about adoping a cat and the lady told me because my dogs aren't spayed/neutteres they won't allow the adoption... she didn't asked if the where male or female... (both are female) never had any puppies up to date on shots why does it matter. She seemed annoyed with the fact that I was there....

FoS provided a low cost spaying and neutering service where they take the dog to the Quad Cities to have the procedure done. The cost was significantly less that going to the local vet to have done and they were very accommodating to helping us get two dogs fixed for less that $200.Thanks, FoS!

I loved every last second I was here. The animals are very sweet and kind and loving. The lady that worked with me was very kind she was giving me alot of info about the animals I was looking at and she answered all my questions I had. I recommend this place!

The ladies I dealt with are very considerate of who and where their strays are placed so they don't have to come back and they are all treated good as they are residing here till their new home is found
