I am loving camping here. There's a wonderful nature trail and a gorgeous lake. Next time I'm here I'll bring a kayak.Restrooms: The shower building is locked during the winter, but camp toilets are located in all camping areas

We stayed here for 2 weeks. It's not very level, and their definition of cleaning the bathrooms and showers is to just drench everything in a bleach solution, toilet paper included, let it just sit, and not wipe anything down. The electrical box is shared between two sites, so you need a pretty long cord in order to reach it. All that being said, we really did enjoy our time here. With it being only 5 mins from everything in Nauvoo, it is an ideal location to stay if that's why you're there. There's a free history museum on site that's a cute, little, local history museum. There's also a little lake where you can fish, boat, or swim. There are tons of trees, so, no matter the time of day, we always had shade. It is $20/night for electric sites. There's also a dump station, and two water spigots in the electric campground. They also have tent camping sites. Our T-mobile service was pretty good.

Great little park with lots of camping sites. Electric and non electric sites available for $20 and $10 per night respectively without senior/vet discounts (Discounts only apply to Illinois residents). There are only a couple water spigots around, but water can be accessed at the shower house and at a single spigot in the electric site area.Showers and bathrooms are included with the camp site fee. Lots of handicapped accessibility areas including at the boat launch. Easy lake access here with lots of fish in the lake, and a boat ramp plus a dock.

This park is so beautiful. Lots of beautiful old trees, rolling hills, and some historic buildings to boot. While there are some signs of this parks age such as the roads and lack of 50 amp power our stay was still very enjoyable. The bathrooms and showers were very well kept and we had plenty of hot water for showers. It would be great to see the state update the RV section or even add some as they are a bit close together compared to other state parks we have visited. Being super close to historic Nauvoo area was nice as we were able to ride our bikes and cruise the old town streets. All of the tours are free and there is plenty to learn both historic and Morman. While I'm nether Morman or religious it was interesting to hear the stories on our tours. I will be sure to add this to our future adventures in camping.

Simple Campsites — took our new trailer here for its maiden voyage. Easy to get in and out of with 27’ trailer and pickup. Several mega RVs were also able to get in easily. Lots of woods. Beautiful view of River. Outside of Mormon attractions, though, and walking through the woods, not much to do. Quiet park.

Nice little park with a lake. There is a trail around the lake, it's about 2 miles. Pretty standard Midwest state park experience here.

Amazing camp site! Great spots for 28’ and 32’ RVs . The showers, the Lake, the Dump station, it’s all very nice and convenient. Being so close to the temple is also very very nice.

Shade, clean showers and bathrooms, electric hookups and quiet. Close to everything in Nauvoo. We are staying here for a few days and are very comfortable here. The staff are nice and helpful. The facilities are well maintained. Overall it is just what we needed for our Nauvoo experience. This is a truly spiritual place and whatever your religion it is a place of reflection, spiritual enlightenment and learning. Visit Nauvoo and consider camping at the state park.

Cute site of the Mormon settlement of Nauvoo. The LDS church only rebuilt important public buildings and homes of important people so there is a lot of space between sites.

Great area to enjoy, visit historical spots, a picnic and so much more. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and take in the sites by the might river!

The historic Nauvoo has about 30 homes and shops you can walk through when they are open. Everything is free. There are oxen and horse carriage rides from about 10 to 2. There is one gift shop on site and two visitor's centers. Really fascinating. It wasn't very crowded in the off season during the week so I was able to walk with my dogs and leave them outside to tour the little houses and shops, all about 180 years old.

The park is beautiful. If you are going to stay in Nauvoo - this is the best way to do it. We loved the fishing and used our kayaks in the lake and everything is within a healthy walking distance. Amazing park!

Great shady mile hike around the lake. It does have some steep hills on the trail. There are picnic tables, public bathrooms, fishing and a playground. Worth a stop if you find yourself in Nauvoo.

Affordable price to be so close to historical Nauvoo, walking distance. Camping with basic amenities at this state park. If you can't tent camp in the summers of muggy hot temps, not recommended.

Staff was very friendly and courteous. Lots of information about Grant Wood and the American Gothic Painting. My wife and I stayed about three hours and enjoyed our time there. We even staged an American Gothic photo that staff helped photograph!

Lots of tree fall from the wind storm the week prior. But staff was helpful. A notice of no power would have been nice prior to arriving. Restrooms were closed too. Nice pavilion and playground equipment.Playground: Nice equipmentRestrooms: They were closed due to tree damagePicnic area: Tables and pavilion

The camp grounds are great! Direct yourself to the state park then keep going straight. You’ll bump into a little building on your right. There are Envelopes on the side of the building for you to fill out and pay for your nights stay. The showers work great and are warm. Highly recommend camping here if you are passing through. For a primitive tent campsite, it was only $10. You can find pricing on the right side of the envelope in the picture.

Great place to stay in our RV. Lots of trees and shade. Ample room at each site. Only had power at the site, but there was water and a dump station at the entrance.

I was looking forward to hiking around Horton lake but every trail head was very overgrown and trees down. Trails are not maintained. Also the bathrooms were filthy and FULL of bugs, I came on the thursday before the grape festival. I also toured the museum in the park and sadly it wasn't clean either.

Was there for the car show during the annual Nauvoo Grape Festival. Had a blast other than it was scorching hot outside and there was about 3,000 cars there and only made it about 1/4th of the way through it.

This was our 2nd stay for two nights. On our previous visit, there was only one other trailer. This time there were a few more, but if this place was full, what a zoo it would be! You can't even determine where your site is because the whole park is one bit pine needle carpet! The sites are small but lots of trees. There are some walking trails. Only electricity was on site and potable water was not convenient for our location. Our visit included rain, wind and some hail. The place was a complete mud pit and so was our trailer. It's very conveniently located right downtown, but it is very quiet and peaceful. The town is very pretty and interesting with a lot of religious history and cute shops. We even found a winery not far from our camper. I hope to find a different place to say if we have a return visit to the area.

We camped here in our travel trailer for 3 nights, and we really enjoyed it. Very quiet. We had a mostly level spot with water and electricity. The campground shower house was always clean and well maintained. Super easy access to the city and the surrounding area. Other campers were friendly and respectful. We were really impressed with the facilities here. The price was really reasonable, and we would stay here again if ever in the area.

We stayed here for 3 days while visiting Nauvoo. This location is super convenient for everything that we wanted to do, and the campground itself is quiet and nicely kept. Very beautiful. We stayed at site #1 so we had a nice level concrete pad. My only complaint was the showers. The shower house was clean, but the shower heads are no good. Other than that it was a wonderful stay!

Stayed here for a couple of nights in the RV. Nice place to stay that is conveniently located for all the historical sites. It was quite and not a lot of traffic.

The campground was nice and was well kept but it was not easy like other campgrounds. We got there and looked for someone to talk to or give us more information, eventually we talked to someone who told us that someone would be around to take our payment but we should just take a spot. The showers didn't have a curtain between the actual shower and the changing area so it was very difficult to keep your clothes dry.

The sites are very inconsistent, haphazardly laid out and poorly marked. Some are large, some small. Some are private, some tightly spaced. Some are muddy,Sites along the perimeter are best and site #1 has a large concrete pad. No on-site presence and no camp host. Only 2 water spigots in main camping area. On a late June 3021 weekend, most sites are unreserved and only 5 are occupied.
