Dr. Clydes and the staff did an amazing job of our furbaby Shadow May 15, 2023 she was given 4 months to 1 year. She passed away April 11, 2024 we were given 11 months more with her. You can prepare but never ready to lose them. We highly recommend this Veterinarian and staff. They showed so much care and love with her.

This is incredibly long but it’s worth the read before you come here. Just in case though, tl;dr is this - the clinic has gone massively downhill over the years and front reception is atrocious 90% of the time. It’s been nearly three weeks and I STILL have not gotten medication my cat desperately needs. Two stars is ONLY for a receptionist named Faith, and for Dr. Williams. To begin my cat is nearly sixteen years old and I travel for work. She is on a VERY high dose of medication and I go through a speciality pharmacy to have it made. Recently I decided to use Clyde’s as my primary again (I had previously been a client for fourteen years) after going to other vets while traveling. Her blood work was all caught up, I simply needed a refill of her medication. That was nearly three weeks ago now. When I first called, I was told by receptionist Kelsey that she didn’t think they could use the pharmacy I have had for a year and a half, and they had their own that they went through. I was then told she would leave a note for the vet to call me back because I had questions. Friday and the weekend passed with no updates. When I called back Monday I was told that they would let the dr know I called and the refill would go through that evening. Great. Still nothing after two more days. I called again, and I was informed that there were some complications but that a note for the vet would be left. By the next Friday it had been a week, I’d heard nothing from anyone, and supposedly three notes had been left that had not been responded to.At this point I was getting worried. Another week of calls, notes, and Kelsey having a slight attitude (no doubt due to my calls asking WHY they hadn’t been able to refill it) before FINALLY I was told in a text with typos that the order was placed.Their pharmacy could not make the high dosage needed, so they decided to have me double this topical cream they did have, and then decided 150 a MONTH was appropriate to pay for said double doses without even INFORMING ME they charged my account. I then discovered they charged me for the wrong prescription as well, with half of it in the form of pills which my cat won’t take.Cue more phone calls, more attitude from Kelsey, and the finding out that she did not write ANY of my information down. By the time Faith helped me she had no idea who I was, what my cats dose was, or ANYTHING. It was as if I had never called at all the previous two weeks. It has been nearly three weeks now, I still DO NOT have any medication and my cat is nearly out, and it has been hell on earth dealing with them. Now I know you’re thinking ‘you had to have cursed them out or had attitude etc’ nope I was polite even when I didn’t want to and I kept being told there would be notes left even when I asked to speak to ANYONE besides Kelsey. I, at one point, was a little frantic, but at no point did I raise my voice, curse, or even get upset with them. However Kelsey DID sigh on multiple calls, and did her best to get me off the phone as soon as possible. When I finally decided to have them use MY old pharmacy, I gave that information (email, phone, etc) to Kelsey HOURS after canceling my previously messed up prescription from THEIR pharmacy. And then when none of that information was there when Dr. Clyde called me, I was told it was ‘lost in translation’ because of my canceling the other order. I understand it was inconvenient, but I made sure they had ALL the info. ALL that needed to be done was to have an email prescription sent over. And it still never got done until Dr. Williams sent it over days later.Their customer service has progressively gone downhill and this was appalling. Faith and Dr. Williams were able to help me in all of HALF AN HOUR, with calls back to verify information, when I’d spent TWO WEEKS trying to deal with anyone else there who could not seem to care I was trying to keep my cat alive. I will not be returning, and while I used to sing praises for this place I will now be telling people to avoid at all costs.

Seems like a good dr but charge u for anything they can... I had already paid for my cats surgery n rabies shots ahead of time n flat out told them don't do anything besides what I've already paid for because I knew I only had about $50 to last me until the next time I would get a payment and they still went ahead and gave her extra shots and medicine and charged me another $74 so they wiped out the rest of my bank account and I still owe them $20! Won't be going here anymore.. and they made a copy of my driver's license and took down all of my debit card information and made me give them a date so that they can take it out of my bank account automatically I don't know where some of these people on these reviews are saying that they got a billing plan made out and that they were so nice and cooperative about it because they just totally screwed me and left me with $0 to my name when I already told them I could not afford any more than I had already paid for!!

One of the most astute, knowledgeable vets we have EVER been to (and that is a LOT of years!) Dr. Clyde is SO kind, smart, responsive and gentle with pets! Her staff fabulous to work with. I trust her care more than any vet we have ever worked with. She saved one of our cats life and helped him live many more years in comfort! He had been treated by many other vets for YEARS as having upper respiratory infections, “nothing else to be done” except repeat antibiotics for his cough and sad reddened draining swollen eyes- often he could barely open them. He was miserable for YEARS. We saw Dr C and she ordered a bartonella test it was highly + and after 3 weeks of the CORRECT diagnosis and treatment- he could OPEN his eyes and was now normal! This old boy then lived happily for 11 more years into his 18th year- I am forever grateful. She also has neutered our cats as kittens, the laser surgery heals faster. Treated a tiny kitten I found “with the most parasites” she had seen (ears, fleas, GI) and now he’s a healthy fur ball. She just did an excision on our sweetest kitty for a new hard lump another vet said to “watch”, it looked like a basal cell neoplasm and I was worried about it. Diagnosis came out to be a rare cyst (benign). We don’t live close anymore but travel to see her still, we are grateful for her continued care and excellence and experience and also her very friendly staff!. Thank you all!!

Dr. Clyde's gets 5 stars all the way around. They were both professional and friendly. Everything we needed to get done was (surprisingly) very affordable. I have a 14yr old German Shepherd girl named Lexiss Nyx and I needed a new Veterinarian due to the prior Vet closing their office down, they scheduled got us on the schedule super quick. When I got to the office, I followed the instructions on the door to call inside and let them know we had arrived. I let them know Lexiss is iffy on being friendly with other people and she is usually not tolerant of other animals. I was able to walk Lexiss around in the back grass while we waited. The Dr and an assistant came out to us. Lex was friendly with the assistant and she even allowed her to talk n play with her. I gave Lexiss a "hug" so she couldnt move, the Dr went behind us, quickly administered the needed shots and we were all done. I was very relieved at the ease of it all and it was done with super low stress to my 14 yr old Lexiss. Dr Clydes offers a wide variety of services other than the yearly vaccines such as house calls, boarding and grooming, dietary management, lab diagnostics, lazer procedures, surgery, critical care and they even provide (this is a big one) 24/7 emergency care. Thank you for your excellent care and for the excellent service!

Would not recommend. Staff is very unprofessional and at times rude. Just recently changed vets and already being treated with so much more respect. The Dr actually sat and talked to me for 30 min about my dogs medical issues and medication. I couldn't even get Clyde's to even call me back. Over charged me on medication that I had previously paid for and they were out of stock so didn't get the full supply then go back to get the rest and charge me again for what I already paid for. It's all about the money there. On top of that took my dog in for labs the tech wrapped her in a town and when I got home she had issues with her leg hurting. My dog is barley 4 pounds and ten yrs old she's very fragile. Any way much happier with our new vet.

The staff at Clyde's Animal Clinic are very friendly and knowledgeable. Our miniature schnauzer will soon be 17 years old (2 years past her life expectancy) and she has severe separation anxiety. We often board her at Clyde's and she adjusts very well. The staff take extra care to make her feel welcome.

I got my very first puppy this weekend. Never had a dog of my own before, and I am super anxious about everything. My Kira Belle demonstrated some very concerning symptoms yesterday. Clyde's got her in as soon as they could. My puppy has been struggling with me leaving and with leaving her litter; she seemed perfectly happy with the staff at Clyde's. I was distraught and in tears; the staff were just as caring and friendly towards me. When she had been examined, the doctor explained everything going on with my baby Kira Belle. Kira Belle is gonna be just fine. The staff operated within my limited income budget and took excellent care of my little baby girl. I can't imagine taking her anywhere else.

My cat was in need of emergency help and Dr. Clyde provided the help I needed for my cat. She also worked with me since I'm on a fixed income. She called me personally to talk to me. I highly recommend Clydes! Thank you Dr. Clyde for helping my cat Olivia!

I had a very sick kitten and I called them and they got me in the same day! They took care of Tux my sick kitty! They washed him up for me, started him on antibiotics. They made sure before I left that I understood when to give him his meds that were sent home with me. I was worried that I waited to long to take him to the vet. They cared for him as if he was one of their own! I will definitely be using Clyde’s for all of my vet needs! Thank you so much! He is doing much better already! I greatly appreciate it!

Dr Clyde recently preformed eye surgery on my Casey for cherry eye. She is phenomenal! I'm a worried dog mom and she took time to look at pics I emailed her, call me back, and reassure me. Not once, but three separate times during Casey's healing. She is so down to earth, makes you and your pet comfortable, just an all around caring person. Her staff are extremely efficient and personable. They always got things tended to as quickly as possible for me with a positive attitude. Casey is now 5 weeks out from surgery and her eye looks and performs beautifully again. You can't even tell there was ever an issue. I live an hour away from Mattoon and my husband and I were so pleased that we've decided the drive is worth the care received. So, Casey will continue to see Dr Clyde for all future care as well. I would highly recommend Dr Clyde and her clinic to everyone!

Ashley Prahl took the time to provide Excellent care for my pups. My dogs get the best care. I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else. Connie and Molly always make sure I have been taken care. Dr Clyde is professional and focused on making sure my dogs is thoroughly examined. Costs are very competitive. A+++++ rating

We just moved here a few months ago after living in WI for 24 years. We have always felt positive about the vet we used to use, so going somewhere new, and with an anxiety ridden dog, was nerve-wracking. We have been to Clyde's 3 times now and every experience was a great one! We are so happy to find a new vet that we can feel confident going to. Dr. Williams and her staff somehow puts my normally anxious dog at ease - it's amazing! I value her recommendations and her demeanor and look forward to bringing our cat in when it's time.

I was very nervous to take my kitten to a new vet to be neutered but the staff at Clyde's were so extremely caring and professional that I was quickly put at ease. When reviewing the cost for his surgery they even gave me options for costs and explained the pros and cons in detail for each. They were able to put a microchip in at the same time too. They even gave me text updates for when my little guy was in surgery, in recovery, and his status. When little guy came home he had a CERTIFICATE OF BRAVERY!! It was the cutest thing I've ever seen, even had his name on it <3 It was really awesome, and my kids absolutely loved it. I cannot say enough good things about this vet. I'll be coming here from now on!!

My boyfriend brought my cat there while I was at work Saturday because they were the only place in coles county open at the time. They ran a bunch of tests, said it wasn't anything serious and made an apt for later in the week. My cat passed away 2 days later. I will never bring another pet back here. I'm so upset. I knew something was wrong and I lost my best pet friend.

The last 2 times my sweet fur baby has had problems, Dr. Clyde called me back personally to discuss the treatment plan when I called with questions. For her to take the time to call and spend 20 minutes talking to me to answer my questions says a LOT about her compassion for both the animals and their owners.

I was told about Clyde's by a friend and she was right! We have been with them now 11 + years and Elizabeth Clyde and Dr. Williams and the entire staff have all been so wonderfully caring and supportive and such really good vets. Our cats and dogs are well cared for every time. Thank you all so very much.

I took my puppy in to Dr Clyde after an ex ray confirmed that my puppy had swallowed a screw. Dr Clyde had several surgeries to do before she could get to my puppy. Though it was late in the evening, Dr Clyde worked to get the screw out without having to do surgery. Having failed at this, she took the puppy home with her that evening, planning to do surgery in the morning. At 9:30 am, the clinic called me to tell me that Dr Clyde had been able to remove the screw with forceps and no surgery was needed. I took my puppy home with no ill effects. She was fine.Dr Clyde showed me how devoted she is to the welfare of animals in her care.

I went to Clyde's today to buy some Royal Canin Calorie Urinary CAT food and ordered by phone in their parking lot because Clyde's still has very restrictive Covid19 rules. The girl handing my order on the phone told me they had the food and said it was a 17 pound bag that would cost $73,65 and then took my debit card number. The girl came out with a 17 pound bag of DOG FOOD. I showed her that it was wrong and then she came out with Urinary cat food that was not moderate calorie. She gave me two options take the food and receive a $30 credit or wait until Monday for a full refund because the office manager was not there to make it, I took the food because I was very low and had no other option. this is no the first time I have dealt with the incompetence of Clyde's staff, but will certainly be the last because I an done with Clyde's. Moreover, while they are very good doctors they are way too expensive and I can just as competent care for my cats at a better price elsewhere.

Dr Clyde was able to quickly diagnose a condition that another vet office couldn't for months even after putting my dog thru unnecessary tests and procedures. Everyone is friendly and their love of animals is very apparent. I completely trust them with my precious dogs Oscar and Elmer.

I would definitely not recommend this place! Truly they don't even deserve a 1 star. I called after hours for an emergency visit because my dog began seizing with no history of seizures. I received a text saying that dogs can stop seizing. I explained that it had been going on for 15 minutes at this point and we were headed that way for help considering it was the only place in my area that has an after hours emergency line. I was then told to just call U of I in Champaign. I responded and told them I lived an hour and a half away from Champaign compared to the 35 minutes from their vet. They would not even respond to that message. So now my dog will have been seizing for OVER an hour and a half trying to get emergency help!! Absolutely no reason that they could not have came in and gave some type of seizure medication and tried to stop the seizure before continuing onto Champaign. To me this is pure laziness and cruel to allow an animal to suffer like that!!Update: By the time my dog made it to the U of I she went into respiratory arrest (quit breathing) and had a 106 temperature and ended up dying as they were trying to do CPR.

This was the second time we boarded our two dogs at their facility. The first experience was great, maybe it was great because it was only a few days. This time we boarded our dogs for six days. Once we got home from picking up the dogs, I noticed several scabs that were the size of a half dollar on my Golden Retrievers belly along with what looked like an ear infection. We took her to our Veterinarian the next day. Her results were hot spots and double ear infection. I’m aware that Golden Retirevers are prone to having hot spots- this was a first time for her.The disappointing thing is that they were boarded at a veterinarian clinic. Nothing was said about her having scabs on her belly or that there was a possibility of an ear infection when we picked her up. These things went unnoticed at their facility which is unacceptable.

We and all our dogs really do love the vets (and staff) at Clyde's. We have multiple rescue dogs (and cats) and occasionally there are scuffles. They are amazing at dealing with emergency situations, as well as routine visits and checkups. We've also been through adoption-to-demise with Clyde's, as they've been our vets for some time, and from the initial check-up (they found lungworm in one of our adopted puppies in time that he's a healthy happy almost-adult!) through the end, they're good folks. My spouse and I would 100% recommend Clyde's, no hesitation.

They are very cordial and open to seeing your pet for urgent care, even if you have never been there before. Many of our local vets do not even want to speak to your loved family member is ill and a new client.

My family has used Clyde's Animal Clinic for years now. Over a decade for sure. None of us have ever had a reason to want to go anywhere else. They have been there for all of my fur babies. Even middle of the night for an emergency call. I love that I can get ahold of a vet no matter what time it is. I wouldn't want to have to struggle to find a emergency vet AFTER my pet was having an emergency. They have always cared for how my animals were feeling and how I was feeling. Twice I have had to put down an animal because of medical reasons of suffering and not even surgery would have helped. Both times everyone in that clinic was so understanding. There was no rushing me or making me feel like I needed to hurry to get it done or hurry to leave after it was done. They also offer cremation services which I opted to do both times. If I ever have to put an animal down again, I will do it there. Where love is the last thing my animal will know. They offer cremation services whether you are a patient or not.

I have to say I am beyond grateful for finding this place and Dr Clyde. We were traveling from TN to Chicago area and my dog had some really weird skin issues. We walked in hoping they could help and even tho they were booked and closed in an hour they stayed open late for us and took such great care of my Roo! I wish I could bring them back home to TN with us! I highly recommend this practice and I am very picky, it's hard to find someone who truly cares for the dogs and Dr Clyde and her staff clearly do!!

One of the best! I had a sick Guinea Pig & after being turned away by their "usual" vet, I called Clyde's & they got me in the same day & had a diagnosis before we left the office! He is doing great & will definitely be going back as a long term patient! Huge thanks to Dr. Jessica!
