They made it very easy to book a weekend trip. They make sure you are well aware of all the awesome activities with texts throughout the day. Unfortunately, we did forget a bike helmet at the campground and it was difficult to coordinate with them to ship it to me, however, they were kind enough to hold on to it for at least a week until I could drive out there and pick it up. On a side note, they have an amazing selection of beverages from the local establishment that will certainly leave you wanting more.Walkability: Small place & easy to get everywhere by foot.

One of the best and the cleanest KOA-s we’ve been. Kudos to the owners and the staffs for maintaining the place enjoyable. There are lots of activities and amenities that entertain both adults and kids, specially kids. They won’t be disappointed or bored. The camp store was very convenient, well stocked and not overpriced for the convenience. I would definitely recommend and come back again & again whenever we can.

We always love our time at Lena KOA! The staff are so very accommodating and kind, there’s always family friendly activities planned and the sites are beautiful. We have come here yearly since 2019 with the exception of last year because we had a newborn. We had our first trip with our son this weekend for Mother’s Day and it was perfect. We are happy to have Lena KOA as part of a family tradition.

We stayed here May 5-7th and brought our pop up camper. Our neighbors had come across this KOA and we decided to do "opening weekend" here. I definitely recommend this KOA! Clean facilities, plenty to do for the kids, and it's an updated place. Just down the road is a brewery that was great for happy hour on this Cinco De Mayo weekend! We will be back for sure!

This year, we tried a new campground and I have to say - this was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had camping. It’s perfect for a newbie or someone who’s been camping as many years (or more) as me.They’ve thought of everything- jumping pillow, pool, playground, tether ball, Gaga ball, huge chess pieces you have to move by walking on the board. There are places for the grown ups who’d rather gather to sit or swing. There’s a huge community firepit, a store that has anything you might have forgotten. They have four sets of washers and dryers, a microwave, a book library. They have a bunch of weekend activities (they text to remind you just before they start), AND (my favorite part!) they deliver ice and firewood to your site at no charge!! All you have to do is text and they run it by! They have a whole snack bar, slushies, cold and hot beverages (adult and non). If you buy a frozen pizza, they’ll cook it for you. On top of that, they have the Kamping Kitchen, which has three sinks (which do have hot water!) for washing dishes, as well as three electric stoves. And they pick your garbage up from the end of your driveway - no lugging it or hauling it on the hood of the car on the way out. They have primarily pull-through RV sites, though they have spots for tents, and they also rent a variety of really cute cabins with porches, grills, fire pits, and comfortable outdoor seating. So for those who’ve not gone camping before, those are a little pricier than a tent site, but you could find out if you like it without investing in the gear. Some even have bathrooms! You can bring food into the pool area and there are tables and lounge chairs scattered throughout the pool deck. The landscaping is beautiful and it truly felt like a getaway for us. The extra money we spent on our tent site would have been spent on things to do in the area anyway, this way, we got to enjoy things right there. We did also wander into town - it’s like stepping back in time; people were sooooo nice and friendly everywhere we went (including the KOA). We wandered at night and felt completely safe. Around the corner in town, we found a community pool, grocery store, mini golf course, cute shops, and some great places to eat. And a few minutes away is a state park (Lake Le-Aqua-Na) with a massive lake with camping, fishing, hiking, eagle watching, swimming, and more.

Cabin was excellent. Everything was clean. Brung your own linens and towels. Galena is close. There is also a brewery close by and restaurant. We had a very relaxing weekend and will definitely be going back.Noteworthy details: Our cabin had a nice porch swing, and we definitely used it in the evening and morning.

Awesome friendly KoA. My dad, and myself both agree this is likely the best campground in the entire state of Illinois. And our combined experience camping, we've camped extensively in the Midwest. There are plenty of things for children to do (pool with slide, beach chairs to sun bathe, train car rides on a tractor usually semi daily around the entire park. (Which has expanded in this owner ship my dad says from his father's experience), bounce pillow maybe half the size of a football field for children, nightly themes to keep people social if they choose to. The gentleman that owns the place, I'm sorry I don't know his name, is extremely pleasant. We both split our determination on a KoA or other independent campground (yuck there ) based on how it compares to Lena. Lena is pretty yard stick for how a campground should run. Pic of the tee pee is Circa 2018 I believe labor day weekend (maybe 2019). Me and my dad come here every year, and we're heading out this way tomorrow morning for 8 nights of relaxation here!!!Noteworthy details: Tractor train rides for children!

We've come camping here a few times now, and've decided that it's gunna become a yearly tradition ta trek out from Chicago & spend great times with family here. The campground is neat, clean, well-organized, & well-run. The staff are great, there's a pool, there's a little dog park, there's a general store, laundry, cabins, trailer spots, and a plethora of other things ta entertain folks of all ages. They have events planned on holiday weekends they have plenty of stuff ta occupy kids, & there's a Sullivan's less than a ten-minute drive away, fer any supplies the general store at the campground doesn't have. You really can't miss this, as long as you keep in mind that this is a family-centric campground, so, no bein loud at night, no runnin around nekked, no overtly adult shenanigans. Have fun!

Campground is a family favorite. The owners are incredibly hard working to keep you happy and want you to enjoy your stay.Nearby activities: This is a campground w cabins to rent plus tent n camper spaces. Plenty of kid activities. Many special events on weekends n throughout the summer season. On business 20 between Freeport n Galena. Galena has lots of history, stores n restaurants. Just past Galena is the great Mississippi river.

I was a bit nervous making the reservation… I had never heard of Lena, Illinois though I’m a lifelong Illinois girl. Let me just tell you that by the time we left I had booked another weekend and signed up to be on a wait list for a permanent spot. I fell in love with this campground and will cherish the memories we made this Labor Day weekend. From the moment we pulled in I knew I had found something special and a place we would come back to for years to come. This campground feels wonderfully nostalgic yet it’s very up-to-date, it is meticulously clean and the grounds are kept nearly perfect. Staff and permanent guests are so very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The owner is very present and you can tell he loves what he does. Prices were fair and I NEVER felt the price gorging and extra charges so many other campgrounds have resorted to.My kids have been to MANY campgrounds but by the time we left they were saying this was their favorite! (My little guy asked to have his next birthday there.) This campground is for family, friends and a lifetime of memories! If you are thinking about booking a stay, give it a try, you will not regret it!

We had a amazing time, even though the weather didn’t cooperate! My son has Autism. He was so comfortable and peaceful while there. We stayed 2 nights in a cabin and it was great! The grounds were beautiful and very well kept. Tons of flowers and trees, that they worked hard on the upkeep daily. Very friendly and accommodating. We will be back in the fall💜 Thank you!

The owners and staff are awesome!!! Friendly, helpful and very flexible. The seem to accommodate every need. There are things for all ages. Pool with slides, games from patio sized Chess set to Gaga Ball to train rides, mining for gems and fossils. Cabins, Tipi's, tents and RV campsites. We came a new route to a familiar destination and found this place. We came back thru using the new route and this will be our stop over going forward. We extended to multiple nights instead of just our normal one on previous trips. Thanks for making this fun!!!! Update: July2023. Still a great place. Staff is simply Amazing. Trash and recycling available. Great restroom and shower facility.

This is a wonderful KOA! The staff was extremely nice and helpful. We stayed in a deluxe cabin with 2 adults, 4 children, and 2 German shepherds, and had plenty of room. The mini kitchen was a plus, as was the full size refrigerator. The patio had a fire pit and a table with four chairs. The grounds themselves were beautifully landscaped, with large trees and flowers throughout the camp. The pool was fun, and our kids loved the jumping pillow, carpet ball, and train ride. The items in the camp store were reasonably priced and they had a large selection of local wines. They also came around several times a day to pick up our garbage for us. The campground also has a centrally located camp kitchen that anyone could use to cook on a stovetop, along with sinks and picnic tables. The dog park was clean and had plenty of dog bags. We had a great family experience and would definitely recommend it. We hope to return soon.

Rolled in after hours due to a tire issue. Staff was still there to check us in. Stayed in one of the teepees which was kind of fun and close to the washroom building, definite plus. Didn’t stay long but the campground is gorgeous and the facilities are top notch. Thank you for the stay.

I've been coast to coast, and this is by far my favorite KOA. This was our first time with our camper (previously only used the cabins). The staff were very helpful getting us pulled in correctly and making sure that we were comfortable setting up before they left the site. The owner even stopped and told me how to hook up the waste hoses. Unfortunately, I left the keys to my trailer at home and we couldn't stay the night but we we're so impressed with the campground, we came back the next day and stayed two nights. Tons of stuff for the kids to do... Nice pool, jump bubble, corn hole, billiard table, ping pong, panning for gems and fossils... It was awesome. Also, there's an RV supply section in the camp store, and the prices were lower than my local Ace hardware! Bathrooms and shower rooms were very clean and private as well. Very pet friendly, with a little 'doggy playground'. Good job y'all! Keep up the good work! We will definitely be back in the near future.

I stayed here over Labor Day in '18. I'm not a KOA guy because of the lack of ambiance. However, my brother ranted and raved about the Lena KOA. Well he was right. My turn to rant and rave! The owner, Joe, and his staff are phenomenal! The campground is NOT located six feet from a highway and there are trees. A lot of mature trees. The campground is clean. Very clean. The people there are friendly. The Hosts organize activities for people to optionally participate in - Pancake breakfasts, raffles that go to the Kids with Cancer cause, etc... Bottom line, the setting is great and the atmosphere that is created by the owners is the best I've ever seen.. Don't think twice about staying here!

Our family has been coming to the Lena KOA for several seasons now. The staff is very friendly, the grounds are clean and well kept. Our kiddos have plenty to do and seem to make new friends ever trip. They especially like the huge jumping pillow! This is also a pet friendly facility. We are looking forward to our next visit!

We stay at this KOA all the time. Joe and Diane are excellent hosts. The campground is beautiful and so much to do. This past Labor Day Weekend they had a Labor Day parade. The seasonal campers decorated there golf carts and drove around the campground and even threw out candy to the kids. What a great weekend. Would definitely recommend this KOA!

My kids and I had a great time here. The staff is super friendly. The bath house, pool and grounds are clean. This place is great for kids. If you are looking for camping all by yourself with no neighbors, this place is not for you. The sites are close together. But I had no issues with any neighbors and everyone was friendly or kept to themselves. We will certainly come back!

Attractive property in many ways, with a lot of amenities. Our site was not level, and we noticed that most of the others were not level . We didn't want to damage the refrigerator and washer in our class A coach, so we did not use either during our 4 day stay. Glad we did not plan to stay any longer. Owners would do well to level their sites in order to accommodate the larger coaches.

What a great place! This has to be the best campground we go to. The staff is great, the facility is clean and well managed, and the grounds are impressive. The owners are involved and present all the time. The operation also has a great and helpful staff. If we were ever to have a seasonal place, this would be it. My kids and grandsons love this place. We will keep going back.

Great Place for a Special Family Weekend! This place is near my grand-kids so we have stayed here about 4 times . The kids love it and are always busy. Pool is in great condition, bouncing pillow is loved by the kids, bathrooms are super clean no matter when you are in them, and the camp sites are well tended. The owners really have a high standard for their campground, are friendly, and seem to really enjoy themselves.

Wonderful place in an unexpected location. If we had grandkids, this is where I'd take them. Plenty of things for the 12 and under kiddos to do, a pool, playground, and games. Most awesome Cornhole (bag toss) set, ever, small pool, and large size chess set! Clean, neat and tidy. Loved it!
