I have been trying to get Kankakee County animal control to come out and rectify the problem with my neighbors hogs. These animals are out every day even this morning and his caused hundreds of dollars of damage not only in my yard but in every neighbors yard around. We also called Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office and they actually came out and spoke with my neighbors about their animals. What do we have to do? I realize this is not in Bourbonnais and I realize that our ZIP Code is not the same.

I’ve found the local animal control department to be extremely helpful compared to other counties I’ve experienced. They respond in a timely manner and treat the animals with compassion. It’s clearly not an easy job, but in all my interactions with this office they have been respectful, professional, and knowledgeable.

Is it possible to give 0 stars because the animal control officer for k3 county is totally incompetent! “Offc” diehl is 100% incompetent, fairly certain a 6 year old could do a better job than her. She leaves out pieces of information and then I pay a fine for failing to register a pet for rabies when she was registered. & then I receive a notification in the mail that I missed my court date when this chick clearly said if the rabies tag is paid for before the date it’s fine. But failed to mention that I can’t upload the chip # it has to be called in? This lady or whatever she is, is a complete joke. The shelter may be nice, but good luck if you have to deal with this “offc”

This place is a great local resource for creatures of all kinds. I adopted a wonderful mutt from KCAC over 12 years ago. If you need a pet, call here first. Mutts are the most playful and fun if you ask me. I’ve had a few questions on shots and animals running around in my neighborhood which were always answered in a friendly and helpful manner.

I received a violation letter for not having my 10 year old house cat microchipped. The letter was red and referenced a court date and time and I thought that was a bit much. I called to discuss this with the issuing officer, a female who signed that violation as "H. Dhl" it appears. She was very exasperated and short with me on the phone. She was talking about lawyers and I thought it was pretty extreme of her. She was no help and ultimately hung up on me - go figure. I contacted my vet who is in Cook County and they were shocked Kankakee County does this for an elderly house cat. Cook county advised me they have never heard of such a thing and told me I was right to feel upset and harassed by this violation I received. Beware that if you get your dog/cat a rabies shot and you do the right thing by reporting it to Kankakee county you'll be on their target for harassment. Expect letters in the mail! Also, the office I had spoken to callously asked me if I was going to put my cat down, apparently that was the other other option I had in her eyes if I didn't go through with a microchip and she thought it was a viable option. Disgusting.

These people literally do nothing about the hoards and droves of strays roaming the city. I called animal control about a pitbull running around the neighborhood (you could see the poor things ribs) animal control couldn't send an officer out unless civilians trapped the dog in someone's back yard. Dog was never rescued.There has been a serious decline in the efficacy of this department over the years. They need to shape up or shut down.Edit:animal control responds to google maps reviews within the hour, does not respond to actual animals needing control.Kankakee county animal control doesnt have a contract with the CITY IT'S BASED OUT OF....

Called everyday to check on my dog while she was in quarantine and everyday they told me she was fine. Picked her up and she has open wounds on her. Place is pathetic and full of liars. Officers rude and rush you when you have questions and concerns. Absolutely sickening of a place.

They found my 16 year old dog literally wandering the neighbors yard. They said he was "running at large" and required he get a fresh rabies vaccine. They allow no legal way out of this, and vets will not give exemptions. 8 weeks later my old friend was full of lymphoma and needing to be put to sleep. The vaccine attacked his lymphatic system. I knew it was wrong but my hand was forced by Kankakee County Animal Control and the court of law. So thanks, KCAC. Now no one can catch the elusive rabies virus from our 16 YEAR OLD DOG because you forced me to kill him. Please, please do not vaccinate your old fur babies. Its such a terribly sad death.

I've adopted two dogs over the years from Animal Control & Adoption Center, including the most recent addition to my home. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. It's obvious they care a lot about the animals they are responsible for. In fact, my dog loves to go back and visit them because of how well the staff treated her there.

As a requirement for school, I chose to do community service for Kankakee County Animal Control because I love animals. I loved working with the animals, and I didn't really mind doing tedious or gross work, but some of the staff made me feel like a nuisance on several occasions. I had to use a time card and the punch in clock to keep track of my hours, so when I had other obligations come up and I stopped going for a period of time, my hours were tossed. They didn't file it, or contact me. I never got credit towards those hours. I kept going because I needed the service hours; when I needed someone to sign my completion form, the lady (not sure what her title was) practically screamed at me, saying that they have deadlines and don't have time. I am appalled how utterly nasty she was, especially after providing FREE HELP!

K3 animal control...please stop doing fake 5 star reviews. You literally just abused an innocent dog for ten days, and gave it a terrible temp and infection when you FINALLY allowed the poor animal back to his family.DONT lie, because lawsuits are fun!Side-note: You should really not have to give one star... it's actually disgusting to people that shouldn't actually exist.

Woman on K3 staff came to neighbors house today because of another neighbor crying over a small nibble, and this staff had no compassion for taking a dog away.Getting corporate involved, with the full staff on duty today, and tonight. Horrible, sad, pathetic people..

Staff lie about not being able to accept dogs. I was going to give a financial donation but the staff blew it by lying and not trying to help. I hope that place closes and they are out of jobs

Never showed up for an abuse case followed the man abusing two dogs for 20 mins no one showed kept calling to tell them his location.. Never showed or the police.
