I had a good experience with customer service when I needed to ask a question.Unfortunately, the person in front of me in the line didn't have such a good experience. The store had made an error in signage, and didn't listen to the customer. I've seen them do a price override on the word of the customer, especially when the store made an error. Sadly, the store representative didn't make the choice to make that customer happy today. The cashier didn't have a choice, she only did what she was told.

I don't buy stuff here unless I have to. Went today and got activa drink got home to drink one and it's sour but doesn't expire for another week so clearly was kept to warm disgusting!Update- so returned and they legit asked why I didn't try the 5 others I got, like 1 spoiled one wasn't enough they wanted me to try them all like i was willing to get sick. Refunded my card but marked it as customer didn't want.BEWARE!!

The produce is generally poor quality, but the meat is generally good quality, but recently I’ve been noticing alot of the meat has to be cooked or frozen the day of or the day after purchase and is still full price. It’s incredibly inconvenient to go shopping every other day or to have to freeze meat just to thaw it out a couple days later.

Berkots is an old school grocery store with some modest prepared foods available. The quality of meat for the prices is great. The prices on produce are usually far lower than the competition, but the freshness is not always top tier.Frozen items are hit and miss as their stock, prices, and selection are only okay. The sales tend to be very good and I find it easy to adapt meals to match sales.Prepared foods, particularly the chicken, tends to be good or very good.The parking lot is tight. The checkers range from slow to fast. The check out is almost always staffed. There is no self checkout. Cleanliness is okay. The place is clean, but you can easily get the impression that it is not since they do not appear to use gases and chemical additives on their products. I am fine with that. Others may find the smell off-putting.If it is close and convenient, this is a great place to get your fresh food and occasional other items. I think it is also a good place to shop sale items to stock up if you are not so close.

I just moved to the area and shop here weekly. I like that they have discounts and markdowns on certain foods.Ive also noticed and appreciate the workers. Especially one that stood out amongst her co-workers. She works hard while still being kind. Even after a full days work and busy she still manages to go back n forth between helping the cashiers and what looks like managerial paperwork. Her name is Hannah and should be recognized as a great employee. Berkots need to show that appreciation.

Went in for a few quick items. After I located my items, I was treated rudely by the cashier ( Kelis ). She never greeted, asked if everything was found ok or a thank you for shopping here. She rang up my items and just handed me my bag.

They seemed to be in the middle of remodel as there were produce refrigerated cases and a electrician working through the ceiling tiles. Plus there was a whole section that was emptied as the were either relocating it or something. It might be a good idea to just let the customers know by a sign posted to the door of the temporary work so they can be ready to adjust their shopping routines and routes within your store. Overall good experience. 👍

I know it's a nationwide problem, but 2 cashiers at 430 is so sad. On the great side: there was fried & rotisserie chicken ready! Much better than a Momence store!

Never have the sale items, even the day of the new store and. There chicken wings were 1.88 per pound for a 3 pound bag . Didn't have them ,but it appeared as if they divided those bags up and wrapped them in smaller packages. Then left for the day . No rain checks . Unsettling.

I know the store is going through a remodel but it's still kind of messy and hard to shop the aisles. I went about 5:200 p.m. and when I left the store there was many carts out in the parking lot need to make sure cart guys are on top of getting those. Don't like how the cashiers have their back to the customer and doesn't really acknowledge you when you are standing there in line. I know once the remodeling is done the store will look great and will be a pleasure to shop there. Kind of feel as busy as they have been that they didn't open in a larger spot

Berkots has been my "go too" store for years...good prices and selection on meat and produce. However, I bought a prime rib-eye steak for a special occasion meal a few weeks ago. When my husband looked at it, he told me that this was not a rib-eye, but he did say it may have been different cut. I was shocked as how flavorless that meat was and it was not tender at all! This is not the first time I was disappointed in their steaks. Have Berkots been purchasing low end meat lately? Very disappointed and feel that I had been ripped off. I don't mind spending extra money for good quality, but I do mind spending extra money for less quality meat.

Has turned into a nice smaller grocery store. Berkot's will never have the selection of larger stores but they have most of the everyday items you need. The meat department is good. Store is very clean and most of the interior is recently updated. The exterior is undergoing renovations now and I look forward to seeing how it turns out.

Found some great deals,VERY NICE MEAT SELECTION!!Produce & deli just like the big box but in west kankakee!The young lady ringing up our goods was very polite, fast and absolutely beautiful!!We had a little hiccup with my payment & a nice lady from the offices came out & got us squared away very fast and we will 100% shop here again!GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I do like coming here for the convenience and the sausages that are made in house. But the other meat is very overpriced but it kinda makes up for it in other sales you find around the store. The produce department definitely has a great selection and the deli never disappoints. I do not like the register set up though, with the cashier's back to the customer makes it feel the your trying to disassociate the cashier with the customer.

I love shopping at Berkot's Super Foods! Most every thing I needed was on sale. Selection was ample. Definitely value for your money and employees were helpful and friendly. A better option than big chain grocer and a more convenient location.

Need to check the dates on everything and the employees are so rude!!! Always bothered when seeking assistance. I’ll go to a gas station ore Dollar Store before them anymore. I kick myself every time.

They're having their grand reopening and it looks so nice! Very clean and well stocked. Everyone is friendly and even though there were only two registers open, they got us through quickly. Great neighborhood store.
