I caution anyone from working with Hopeful Tails animal rescue and I wanted to simply share my experience so they can make an informed decision. This is gonna be a long one so, TLDR: Hopeful Tails can be non-responsive, have potentially lied to me for unknown reasons, and do not properly vet their adoptees prior to placing dogs in homes. I have filed a police report against them.I adopted a dog from them that they have since reclaimed with little to no reasonable explanation, and any explanation had to be dragged out of them as it was not offered up to me willingly.I met this dog, Big Girl, on a friday night and fell in love. She was a very timid, shy, scared girl but I knew I was ready to put all my time and effort into caring for her and giving her a home. After I had been approved to adopt her and took a family picture with her at the request of Hopeful Tails, I received two texts from people I had put down as adoption references saying that had been reached out to. According to the timestamps on those messages, they were reached out to after I had already been approved to adopt Big Girl. This should have been my first red flag.I picked Big Girl up on Saturday after work and brought her home. While in the car, I put a harness on her to walk her prior to going inside my home. While on that walk, she slipped the harness and got loose for about 4 days.During those 4 days, I did everything in my power to bring Big Girl home. I contacted the rescue immediately to get any assistance in catching my dog. I was in contact with the rescue as well as Big Girl’s foster, doing everything they asked to find her. When asked to put flyers up, when asked to have my apartment complex send out a mass email with the lost dog poster, when asked to follow the directions of a person on Facebook that reached out to me, when asked to post across social media , I happily and readily did everything. I just wanted Big Girl to be safe. Throughout the search for Big Girl, Hopeful Tails readily emailed me but this would soon change.When Big Girl was eventually caught, I was contacted first by another person on Facebook. This contact led me to contact the foster, who confirmed yes Big Girl was safe and I should contact the rescue to find out what the next steps were. So I emailed, and was immediately responded to with quite a tone. I was told because this situation “could’ve turned out much worse”. This comment seemed particularly pointed and unnecessary. I was then refused to be spoken to for days as they had “spent all of my efforts on finding Big Girl”. I was eventually given the excuse that only one person at the rescue could have made the call and she was out of town over the weekend.This is where most of my anger and confusion comes in. When I was eventually called by Hopeful Tails, I was lied to on multiple occasions. She insisted I was told about the martingale collar Big Girl was wearing, a term I had never before heard prior to that phone call.She insisted Big Girl saw the foster and ran into her car. I spoke with the foster the night Big Girl was caught, she was caught in a cage and the entire cage was brought inside the fosters home as they could not release her from the cage until they were inside a secure building. I have photo evidence of Big Girl in the cage both where she was caught as well as inside the fosters home. I truly do not know why this woman would lie to me about this detail.When asked what part of the adoption contract was breached, the woman I spoke with said since the dog “did not adapt to my home” they are within their rights to reclaim her. Arguably, was Big Girl given the opportunity to adapt? Had Big Girl gotten loose a week, a month, a year after I brought her home, would that give Hopeful Tails the right to reclaim my dog?Ultimately I am happy and relieved Big Girl is safe and being cared for. That is my number one priority. I am upset by the way I was treated and the situation was handled. It was completely unprofessional and frankly embarrassing.

The ladies here are absolutely wonderful. My wife and I were looking to add a dog to our family and boy did these amazing humans help.Within 24 hours of submitting the paperwork for adoption, we had heard back. Due to some scheduling conflicts on our end, we couldn’t meet the pup for 2 days, but when we did, the rest of the process was seemless! We’re first time dog parents and they guided us through care afterwards as well!Also, the fact that they’re no kill is a huge bonus for my wife and I.If you’re thinking of adopting, please do it from the amazing team at Hopeful Tails!

I cannot say enough positive things about Hopeful Tails!! We rescued our puppy from them, and they were professional and thorough throughout the entire process. When we were first looking, it was great their website was organized and clear to follow for us to apply to adopt with ease. I really appreciated their prompt response to my emails as well. Having young children, their care at letting us know about temperament of dogs and being very transparent which would be a great fit for our family was so important and helpful. When we went to meet with our new puppy, it was clear they were taking great care of all their animals, and they provided us the space to meet with him to see if he would be a great fit. I also cannot say enough great things about the vet care our puppy received in his time with Hopeful Tails. Thank you, Hopeful Tails, so much for all your help bringing Mack (formally Tootsie Pop) into our family!

We had the best experience with the Hopeful Tails team when we were ready to meet some of the rescues and adopt! The team got in touch within 24 hours, we saw the lovely dogs the next day and adopted that same day. They explained all the rules of adopting which seemed clear and intended to protect the puppy and us! We love our new Olive, who is such a joy. Thank you Hopeful Tails!

Hi!Are you looking for a companion? Need someone to greet you when you get home, and hang with you while you are? This adoption center was fantastic! Quick online response via Petfinder & appointment time in house. Super friendly, helpful, caring volunteer staff. Beautiful variety of all kinds of potential friends (dogs) rescued from kill shelters among other things. We found a perfect match for our family and couldn't be happier! I had such a great experience adopting my pup from Hopeful Tails. I respect that they want to make sure that each family is the right fit for the animal being adopted without being too extreme like many other rescues. They have been very responsive and helpful with any questions or concerns post adoption as well. They are doing great work, and I can't thank them enough for letting me adopt me the greatest dog in the whole world.

If you are looking to adopt, hopeful tails is the absolute best! The staff are all so wonderful, they are so quick and responsive, and the adoption process itself is so simple. My husband and I always wanted to adopt as soon as we got our own home, we happened to get a home during a pandemic, so it was not easy trying to adopt. Hopeful tails was the ONLY adoption place who emailed us back and even called us to talk about what was a right fit and what we were looking for in a dog. Few weeks later we brought home our forever family member. Even after adopting her , they have been so helpful and caring. Look foward to getting another puppy from them in the future.

Hopeful Tails Animal Rescue has become a place that euthanizes dogs that they once claimed were safe with them. I had been a volunteer for many years and the place has sadly changed for the worse. The owner is a poor manager and says she needs to downsize (put down dogs) to stay open. Just know if you donate there, the money has a good chance of sponsoring a dog euthanasia.

Hopeful Tails was very pleasant to work with when adopting our newest puppy. It was nice that they do an application process to find the right fit. They answered emails quickly and were very friendly in doing so. When we went to meet the puppy we were adopting everyone was great! It was nice to be able to meet the foster mom and see how our other dog interacted with the new puppy. The whole process was pretty simple. We couldn't be happier with the experience. Hopeful Tails is a wonderful place to adopt!

Amazing shelter, hands down. My family and I just recently adopted a puppy, Lila. Hopeful Tails responded extremely quick to my application first of all. They were extremely nice!!! I had an appointment set up within a couple of days to meet this sweet baby girl! We got there right at 9am when they opened. The staff there was AMAZING. a lady named McKenna assisted my family and I. She was sooo friendly, and explained everything so well! They let us play with our sweet girl for quite a while to make sure she was a perfect fit, and she was!!! She even let us walk her around outside. Adoption process was smooth and simple. They had boxes of toys for a really good deal, and they helped me pick one out. They even gave our girl a stuffed animal and a cute home made blanket one of the staff members made. Everyone was so nice, so helpful, gave us great advice, and our baby girl, Lila is the most loving pup we could ask for!!! This place is amazing!!

Unbelievable for an animal rescue!!They don't answer the phones and ignore people who are at their door, while they have a good time inside, not caring if the pets get adopted.Whoever is running this place should lose funding.Those pets are there to be adopted it's NOT a social club!Now you want to keep the line of communication open? Really? Why wasn't anyone available when I called and drove out there?No, I will NEVER recommend anyone go to this rescue CLEARLY it's not an animal rescue,but a social club.

We drove an hour to go adopt from Hopeful Tails and I've never been happier. They were very responsive through email and you can very clearly tell they love their animals!! They helped us find a wonderful puppy to take home and Siri (formerly Ellis) is having a wonderful time at home. The person we met at the shelter was also really awesome and helped us get set up and get all the right supplies to care for the puppy. The supplies available there were also excellent and I highly recommend buying as much as you can from there since the money goes back into the care of these wonderful creatures!! All in all, there's no way to go wrong adopting from Hopeful Tails!

Adopted our new puppy from Hopeful Tails during covid. It was a great experience for our family as first time adopters. The staff has made it a great positive experience before, during and post adoption. Despite a high demand and a large number of applications, the communication was great and extremely responsive during every step. This was not our experience with most other shelters where we submitted applications. We are so happy we were able to find the perfect fit for our family and adopt from them. I highly recommend them if you are considering adoption. They are kind, knowledgeable, responsive and thorough and this comes through in their online presence as well as direct interaction with them. They have also gone above and beyond to provide safe interactions with a potential pup even during these difficult times, which clearly shows their commitment to their dogs as well as the families considering adoption.

This review is long overdue for this place. We adopted our dog from there and the day we brought her home she had a significant amount of worms in her stool! They didn’t treat her at all! Fast forward we have a awesome healthy dog and my daughter wanted to volunteer at this place! 7 minutes late for volunteer orientation ...and they wouldn’t let us in the door! They said sorry! So we go into work early so we can leave early and drive 30 minutes from home in traffic only to be told sorry! The lady told me “ that’s why we tell you to come early” no s$&@...but it’s volunteer and life happens to the best of plans. And I was told they would quiz me ...we both have a masters degree so I think figuring out how to care for an animal would be easy! Good luck and please do not support this ridiculous shelter!!!!!

Hopeful Tails was nothing less than incredible! I emailed about a dog I saw on petfinder, and they responded to my email within the hour on a Sunday evening. The dog had just had puppies and was still working on interacting with other dogs, so I initially decided to wait. After many other ignored applications to other shelters, they took the initiative to reach out to me to follow up and see if I had adopted yet! I decided to adopt my sweet baby after she was fixed and getting along with other dogs better. It has now officially been a week, and throughout the week they had sent me multiple follow up emails, and even tips on getting her to eat and using a harness. I am so grateful to have gotten in touch with them, and so thankful I have given one of their pups a forever home!
