I had a great experience here! The staff was attentive and warm. My dog was a new client and the groomer asked me great detailed questions about what I wanted for my dog. She did exactly the cut I wanted and listened to my directions. After some bad grooming experiences we will definitely be coming back!! Here are some before and after pictures.

I’ve been here 3 times with my puppy to introduce her to grooming. Wonderful people all around, but I don’t think we are seeing eye to eye about her haircuts.. I come with some pictures and they say yeah we can do that, but she comes out differently. Today, it just looks like they took shears and chopped her bangs, nothing is blended like the picture I showed them (especially her forehead). I only wanted her face to be rounded/shaped, but they cut so short. I’ve been upset everytime I’ve gotten my dog and I’m sad it hasn’t been working out FYI $75 (+ tip) for the bath, nail trim, cut, and I think ear cleaning and ~3 hrs.

I have a 100+ lb dramatic husky who hates his paws being touched after too many traumatizing nail trim experiences. Tammy and The Velvet Touch crew had his claws clipped before he even had a chance to start screaming.So happy to find somewhere I trust with my dog, we'll definitely be back!

I took my Shitzu/Maltese mix her for a groom, and she was definitely overdue for a cut.She did have some matting on her legs and chest, and Velvet Touch called me to let me know. I had to sign a release form, and return it to them before they would begin the groom. The form actually explains why shaving may be necessary, and what your dog is experiencing if you haven't groomed your pet properly at home, or before going to the groomer. Long story short, a properly groomed dog between haircuts, makes for a much easier session for your dog. The groomers are the ones that are usually blamed for Knicks, cuts, stress, etc. However, I realize I have to do my part between cuts.Needless to say, when I signed the form, I was expecting my dog to be shaved down to the skin. She wasn't. She looked fantastic, and they got her in/out of the shop in just a couple hours. This was my first time at this shop. We moved, and were driving her back to the old groomer, which was a pain. These guys and gals are local, and did a fantastic job, without overcharging.

We are new to this shop and wanted to share that we are very pleased with the grooming experience today. It is a bit pricey but well worth it. Alexa is very professional and a talented groomer. Our boy, Baxter, looks so fresh and clean! He’s so handsome!Thank you Alexa!

I really dissatisfied with my last visit. Sara shaved my dog when we clearly agreed for a medium length in person and on the phone. And she charged $90 for a 3 pound dog to shave her.

Excellent. They take wonderful care of our dogs. We have been using them since 1992. Complete confidence in their abilities and safety protocols. Very patient and gentle with older dogs. We are very thankful for their dedication to the highest standards.

My groomer, Judy, relocated here from a different organization. I tried another groomer at the old last location but he was a little rougher on my doggie than I like. So I travel from South Side Chicago to Hinsdale for Judy to groom my doggie. After all, my doggie deserves the best and she's been grooming him roughly the last 5 yrs. Judy was the only groomer my doggie had known. He's looks so much better and seems much happier!

I brought my cat here about 2 weeks ago and had an appointment for a bath and haircut and when my husband went there they told me that they did not have enough time for cut her. When I called the day before I let them know the style haircut I wanted and I was told that on the day of the appointment I can let them know what I wanted. (A simple phone call before hand would of been more professional). This was a major inconvenience for me because now I have to go to a grooming salon who is going to cut her and bathe her again. Another reason why I am so angry is because when one of the workers was taking out my cat from her carrier she held her from the back of her neck... which is not how you handle a cat. I just hope in the future the staff is educated on how to properly hold cats when taking them out of their carrier and let customers know before hand if they can't fit in a haircut. I will not be back.A response to the owners comment below 2/1/23:I was never given a "detailed message" saying my cat did not adjust well to trying to cut her or that she was aggressive, nice try. The call I received was that they did not have enough time to cut my cat after I dropped her off 30 mins prior.

So disappointed. We were after her last grooming too, but decided to give them one more try because Sarah has always been great. First, after the last few grooming our dog is completely traumatized- shaking and clingy for hours. Second, the cut is uneven and they didn’t trim her nails (though we paid for full groom). Finally, the price has gone up from $45 to $87 in under 3 years. $87 is ridiculous for a 30 lb dog. Save your dog and your wallet and go somewhere/anywhere else.

I can’t say more amazing things about this place. It’s clean, quiet, and Danielle did amazing with my very difficult and scared cat. I previously took her to a place in Elmhurst where she was mishandled and traumatized and a week later I brought her here for a second try. Danielle got her done in less than 30 min and was able to shave her completely which I never thought my cat would let happen. Danielle you are a rockstar and a sweetheart. The front desk gentlemen is also so kind and sweet. If you have a scared cat or dog bring them here. 10/10. Thank you Danielle & team!

Normally I would never give any establishment a perfect score because there’s always room for improvement. However, my 13 year old Pomeranian who happens to be named Bentley made me do it!My wife and I and Bentley absolutely love the Velvet Touch, our groomer Anita and the staff at this wonderful pet Spa! As a professional critic I have no complaints whatsoever.The appointment was timely. The spa is clean. The service is friendly and professional and the staff is flexible, with a sense of humor. Even the dogs seem to be in the same fraternity and having the time of their lives. The Spirit of the Spa is peaceful and joyful. I even enjoyed talking with the other proud dog parents on my way in and out!The service menu is extensive and the prices for the caliber of service is more than reasonable! Oh, I found one. Here’s a fault!The name of the establishment should be changed to “Perfect Touch” and wine and cheese should be served in the guest lounge while the owners joyfully wait for their pets. It was $60 for a shampoo and nails and ears... plus he came back with his harness cut and damaged. I literally just bought the harness too, now its ruined. Won't be going back. My dog has never chewed a harness before and it's a spot he cannot reach to chew!!!

Sara went ABOVE AND BEYOND! We took my 1 year old Sheepadoodle in terribly matted for the first time to The Velvet Touch after months without a groom, with full expectation she would tell me that shaving our dog would be necessary. Sara and the manager took the time out of their schedules to educate me on why she got this way, and how to better maintain her between grooms. Sara went well out of her way to get our dog back on track—without shaving! She spent hours carefully combing her mats out and cleaning her up. She looks great! Sara was playing with her when we picked her up—I know Penny was treated like a queen while she was there! Your efforts did not go unnoticed, Sara! We appreciate you and will see you again

This place rocks. I had to bring my cat on a moment's notice.... Sigh.... And it was GREAT. So nice. Quick too. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ....Update... Was able to bring my cat back today.. Mid January. VELVET TOUCH IS AWESOME. THANK YOU SO MUCH. ⛪🙏February 8th trip update-thank you. You ladies are great. Pumpkin gave me the business the entire way. Ha. 😺

I just lost my pet 10/08/21( she was family not just a dog) of 16 years. She was a senior not too many salons wish to take on the challenges of an older dog. Sara stoodup to the plate and was very empathetic. Unfortunately a day before to take her to get groomed she passed away. Thank you so much for being so kind and understanding.

My cat is a British Longhair. You have literally made her look absolutely terrible. Even she seems miserable. I regret taking her there and you are WAY too overpriced anyway. I definitely do NOT recommend anyone take their cat here.

We brought our mini golden doodle in 2 days ago for a well needed grooming, we waited and finally got him into the Velvet Touch. We requested a short cut with his face rounded out and when he came back out 2 hour late he was shaved unevenly. The employee really showed no concern or care and stated that his hair got tangled and there was nothing that could be done so they had to shave him. Our dog is at home now and is completely traumatized, I am concerned that he also might have been mistreated as well. The attitude of the establishment (complete lack of empathy or care) makes me feel like this could be more than just a bad job. One would feel that if a poor job was done (see picture. of before/after) that they would do something to make it right and at least apologize but we received nothing except by being told that it was inevitable with no concern for the dog or how he looks. Very poor establishment that I am scared to go back to for my dogs sake.After reading the managers response it all makes sense if ANY of this had been explained to my wife before this was done. We are adamant that this was not done, we went in thinking that he was going to get a cut and came out with him shaved, none of the explanation given was told to her. If she has known he was going to be shaved why would she have been surprised? He was also nicked on the ear (which was bleeding) and there is still uneven shaving and it was also specifically requested that his face shape be rounded (which it was not). There was no communication and we are hearing it all now.Final words here, shop manager states they did nothing wrong and is adamant that they are right and we are wrong. I guess trying to make the customer happy is not in the company motto. Bottom line is our dog was shaved (horribly at that) and permission was not given and they somehow are stating it was, employees word over customers word! Visitors be aware, never will come here again and will let all our Hinsdale and OakBrook friends who go there know how we were treated.

We used Velvet Touch for a couple years every 4-6 weeks without major incident. The last time we went, my dog was there for almost 8 hours, and I never received a call that she was ready. I tried calling and no one answered. It was closing time, so I drove over. The shop was dark and there was only a young girl left at reception. I asked her what was going on; she said she “called me several times and left a voicemail”. I had no missed calls! I paid and took my dog home.I called the owner and asked for an explanation, the owner was rude and dismissive. Luckily I found a lovely new groomer and never went back to Velvet Touch.

Our dog is scared to death when it comes to trim his nails. Sarah at velvet touch handled both him and me wonderfully! She gave me advice how to prepare my dog, groomed my dog to perfection. I am very grateful and will come back!

gave my cat a great lion cut, which involved cutting through lots of huge knotted fur. My cat seemed to be in good spirits when i picked him up! The cat groomer has 40+ years experience. I would go again and recommend this groomer to others.

We have a very old Maltese who can act like a real goblin sometimes, so it is awesome to have groomers who take such good care of him.
