I adopted Pantera 2 weeks ago and he’s doing great! My other cats have adjusted to him! Great adoption experience, fast and easy! He’s very talkative! He figured out how to open the cat door and go out on the catio. Couple of my other cats only know how to come in. Real smart cat.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice clean facility. Large number of cats to chose from.A no kill facility❤. Cat cages roomy with comfy items in each plus litter box. No litter smell so kept clean! I only wish they had larger visiting rooms that cats could spend more time in rather cages. That would enable more interactions between visitors and cat to see if it is a good match. Also spending time in a visiting room would get cats more social to other cats and people who one in and out.( not all cats would qualify of course, to be in that environment). I like how this facility asks lots of questions on application to be sure their animals will get a happy forever home. Also..they keep a current on-line photo show of all their adoptees.

I went there to see about adopting a kitten or a cat. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The reception area was clean and filled with information about adopting dogs and cats. The cat area was well kept and the kittens and cats were all well kept.

I adopted an 8 year old cat her name was Kayla & a two month old cat Smokey together. They’re the best decisions I’ve ever made! I got so lucky with them because they’re both the most cuddly cats I’ve ever met. Once I properly introduced them they got along so well Kayla is already teaching Smokey how to play. Both of them are amazing & even super cuddly with my family when they visit my house. Smokey sleeps on top of my chest or head whenever she gets the chance & Kayla follows me around & loves sleeping next to my feet at night. I couldn’t have asked for better cats anywhere else. I’m very happy I got these two baby girls

Adopted 2 cats. They were so scared, I wasn't sure they would be good pets, Carla gave me advice and convinced me to try for a longer time. They have turned out to be a joy. So sweet. Great place. My last 5 pets, have been from here.

I went in with my grandfather a few times to try and find him a dog last week, since his most recent dog passed away a few months ago. We were denied the ability to even hold the dog he fell in love with because we have to bring in the dog currently in the household to meet this one. Even explaining our situation regarding the nature of the current dog and how she’s living her last days as well, they couldn’t make an exception. We explained the dogs wouldn’t even come in contact with one another as the other dog is secluded and receiving special treatment from another family member in the household. When I asked to speak with director of animal care, she was rude and clearly didn’t care for what I had to say. I understand they have rules and policies and whatever but come on. They’re excuse was “well then we’d have to make that exception for everyone” which doesn’t make any sense since this is a more rare situation we’re in. It’s also not a law or a necessity that the dogs need a meet and greet, because most of the time they aren’t going to get along ant the start anyway so what does it really prove.Go to Anderson Humane Society or literally anywhere else.

We adopted our dog, Annie (originally Anne), a little over three months ago and can’t say how great HHS was to adopt from. We came in on a Wednesday and had a couple dogs in mind to check out. The wonderful receptionist, Anne-Marie, made us feel at ease right away and matched our enthusiasm about checking out a few of their dogs. Immediately, we were drawn to Annie and after filling out an adoption application, we spoke with a counselor about the type of dog we would want to adopt and she did a great of informing us about each dog that we were interested in. We ended up taking Annie out for over an hour and playing with her and decided to sleep on it. The next day we came back and adopted her and we can’t imagine life without her! Although we didn’t have all the information regarding Annie’s life before HHS, the staff did an amazing job of giving us as much info and resources as possible to making it a seamless transition from shelter to home. We will recommended HHS to friends and family who are looking to adopt because of their awesome staff, very clean facility, and the care and effort they pour into their animals!

I’ve been holding this one back. This place is the worst! Years back I went with my two retired parents to look for a dog to adopt. To make a long story short, they were denied basically because they didn’t have a fenced in yard, even though they live on five acres and would basically be home all day with the dog. They’d much rather adopt the dog out to a family that works all day, but as long as they have a fenced in yard. If you do go here, just lie and say you have a fenced yard. These people like to play God.

After a month trying to go through so much with other rescues I thought I'll check here. Place is huge and very nice. Cat area seemed cleaned . But man hard to look at the cats. I found my two they named them Channing and Stealth but still working on changing their names. The process was very nice and not pushing. Thanks

This place is amazing!!! We adopted our sweet 2 year old cat from Hinsdale Humane Society about 3 months ago. The adoption process was so smooth and easy and everyone was so nice. Fast forward 3 months later, she had a lump on her skin that looked like there was a hole and had scabbed. We asked some friends that know a lot about cats and they said it could be botfly or a puncture wound. We were freaking out because botfly needs to be treated asap, but our normal vet couldn’t see her until a week and the animal hospital near us was very expensive and had bad reviews. My mom suggested calling the Humane society for advice. I spoke to Kathy who was so kind. She understood our concern and had a us send a picture which she sent to the vet. Even though the vet was not in, she called me back within minutes telling us he didn’t think it was botfly but to bring her in Monday. This was very kind since I had known the clinic was not open to the public after adoption. We brought her in and it ended up just being a cyst. The vet was so nice and drained it and gave her an antibiotic shot free of charge. We are so grateful for the Hinsdale Humane Society for giving us the sweetest most amazing cat and continuing to show they care for their animals even after adoption.

A wonderful shelter full of wonderful staff. They were very knowledgeable about each of the animals they had there and they took time to explain every aspect of the adoption process and any further care we would need. We adopted two very playful kittens and a very happy. Our family has adopted from HHS before and they truly care about their animals and who adopts them.

The staff here was so rude, the lady at the front desk was very unprofessional.I rescued a stray cat on Sunday and brought him here, only for them to tell me call an intake person who wasn’t working on Sunday, and then to take the stray cat to the police station. Do not donate to Hinsdale Humane Society thinking they are helping pets, they are not!

Adopted our new girl on Friday. Cleanest shelter I've ever been to. The staff were very helpful, caring, and patient as our old baby needed some time to adjust to his new sister. Cassie was great to work with.

Went in wanting to find a cat that would get along with my newly adopted cat Joel. The adoption counselor was very responsive in finding a social kitty that would get along with other cats. I found Madison, and her and Joel are now best friends

I brought our 20 month old nervous, high energy pup to visit with Jamie from the training department. We felt our pup needed some additional training that wasn't obedience based, to help her overcome her fear of the environment (truck noises, lawn mowers, fast moving bicycles, crowds, etc.) and to help us understand her nervous pacing that she has done since we adopted her. Our pup has already been through some obedience training, but she is afraid of people who want to greet and pet her. For her, it is the environmental things that scare her.Jamie took time to do an evaluation of our dog. She asked what we were hoping to get out of training, what she had done already for training and how she could help our rescued pup.Since we visited with Jamie and started the recommended training exercises for our dog, we are beginning to see our dog voluntarily calm herself down sooner and there is less pacing happening at our home. Our pups life is changing for the better every day. Thanks to the training department for all of the assistance!

I want to start off by saying I have adopted 2 cats from here and had a great experience. I went with my family to adopt an older cat to add to my family. The people working there looked like they were in highschool. Every cat I looked at they had an excuse why it wouldn't fit with my other cats. Too much energy. Not enough energy. Doesn't get a long with other cats. Doesn't like being picked up. All cats take time before they get a long with other cats, especially when they are locked up in a cage 23.5 hours a day. We settled on a cat that WE thought would work. The girl comes in and said the manager said we couldn't adopt her. Then she said the cat was returned multiple times. When I asked why she said the owner moved and couldn't take it with them. Our cats are part of our family. Not just pets. I'll adopt from another shelter for our next cat.

We got our kitten from here! Well, we’ve had her for about 2 years now so she’s really not a kitten anymore. I’m more of a dog person BUT getting our cat Beauty from here was the best decision. She’s amazing, sweet, cuddly. She follows me around from room to room. And anytime I have a question, I can still email hinsdale for help. Highly recommend getting your animal from a shelter. I have no regrets.

This is our second time spring through them and it was a nice process. Their facilities are great for the animals and simple to explore for adoptees. The animals are well cared for and safe.Derek (our new kitty) and Ciaran (one we adopted from here 11 years ago) are already chatting away on opposite sides of their door.

Very clean and professional shelter. We were allowed to view the available dogs at our leisure and then speak with an adoption consultant once we decided we wanted to personally meet any of their animals. Our consultant even recommended (based on our converstaion) a dog we hadn't seen that they had in the office area. It was a wonderful match and we are very happy.
