This is an awesome place to get your “art” on!I’m a retired art teacher and it is so nice to have a place to do pottery and many other types of art!! Schools are losing their art programs, Fish Tales Pottery Place is a great place for kids to have all kinds of art experiences!!!Young and old alike will love it!

There rodents are probably not separated just like their bunnies. The cages are to small. They over charge for mutts, just for the fact their small. They don't bother to make sure the puppies are ok because if I had not paid to save my dog she would have died in a week, her leg was messed up and she didn't even way a pound. I only shop here causes I need food for my hamster. Stick to food, toys and other animal products. Since the shop can't take good care of their animals.

This is an excellent pet store with a huge variety of pottery to choose from. The prices are reasonable and the staff is nice. It seems as though the business has switched to more of a pottery focus but that seems to be OK due to the fact that the prices for the pottery are great.

Amazingly friendly staff! We went with my work for a field trip and the ladies there were so friendly and amazing! She spoke to me as if she knew me a long time, and by the time we left she even gave me a hug! Their animals are so sweet, and their pottery is delightful! They were very informative to the kids about the process and overall it was a wonderful experience! Decently priced in my opinion as well!

I love this shop! The staff is friendly. The items are of great quality. Affordable and enjoyable experience. And who doesn't enjoy petting a puppy or 2 when you're waiting for your pottery to dry for it's next coat!

Great customer service and a wonderful new puppy! We found Fish Tales via a Facebook friend who'd seen the puppy we ended up getting. The manager agreed to hold him for us until we could drive up from the Memphis area. We made the drive and were very pleased. Our new baby was perfect, obviously well cared for, bathed and ready for his new home. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Thanks Fish Tales! We love our new baby!

We stopped in today to check out the fish and were hoping to bring some home. The photos online show their tanks and they looked really nice so we were so excited to get there. Upon arriving we were greeted by many puppies and lots of cool pottery. There was even a really adorable hamster that seemed pretty excited to be alive. Then, we made our way back to the fish tanks. We immediately noticed they have a sick male betta in a tank with other fish and he was covered in ich. They have another male betta in a different tank that seemed well but stressed. All of there tanks were extremely sick. Fish were dead or dying. Many looked to have swim bladder issues and ich. Just totally all around disappointing, especially seeing that their prices are highly that the other local pet stores. if you bring home fish from this store be prepared to treat them for illness. There’s more to fish keeping than a fake plant and pretty rocks. My guess is the water parameters are wayyyyy off in their tanks. If you’re in the market for a puppy they had tons of them and they looked healthy.

This place seems to always be empty. That's a convenience I suppose because the staff can focus on one customer at a time. They do offer a nice array of products compared to most "Mom and Pop" style pet stores. Staff is helpful and prices are reasonable.

Very nice pet shop, good variety and a lot of supplies. Recently it seems the ceramics have taken over, some of the pets have been moved to the back (hamsters, mice, etc.), but they're still taken care of well. Still my favorite pet shop. Grooming is 10/10, left my pup clean and smelling good for a month!

I went in during lunch today. The store was clean, smelt fresher and the girl was very friendly. I looked at some fish and she answered all of my questions and was very friendly. It looks like they have fun painting now as well i will have to try that next time. I will be back for fish this weekend. Nice people and store!

If I could rate this place a zero, I would! Their store always smells, I have purchased a few pets from them and had to take them to the vet, ultimately having them die within a month! I’ve had animals for YEARS. I’ve never seen such poor quality animals in my life. I rescued a lionhead Rabbit early last year, they had the rabbits in the sun, and they were having heat stroke. She unfortunately died a few days after. Every time we’ve visited, we’ve had to cover our nose due to the stench of uncleanrd potties, and runny poop from sick puppies. The fish tanks are green, and obviously no one has any knowledge of aquatic care. I would highly recommend driving the extra miles and go to Dee’s. I’ve been purchasing from them for over 13 years, I’ve never had a sick, or injured animal. Fish tales should be condemned as far as I’m concerned. Please, for the sake of your money, and emotional distress, DON’T GO HERE!!!

Due to their move. The store has been put into better shape. Fish are becoming in better condition and prices lowering to where it isnt to out raging. Thankfully.Their mice and stuff are okay. Their fish are still semi over stocked but better. Though some still had ich and werent tended to.The bearded dragons are okay. Just a bit skinny, though their service is better. They're improving that's all I wanted.I'll give em 3 stars. They do need to up their fish game though.Their fish food and supplies are a bit more expensive than say Dees and Walmart. But if needed in a pinch it's only 3$ more usually. Their prices are a bit wallet busting on canisters and some supplies. But usually it all works.- Thanks for reading my reviews so often. I'll write more if needed since I'm a kid who goes to these places quite often. I own a bunch of pets, so these are normal stops. I'll give a review of Carbondale PetCo next time I go.

Most of their care workers only know limited knowledge on a single thing. Their fish are usually covered in ich and parasites or just dead. Though the ones that are in good health are gonna live long lives if you give them a better environment. Their rabbits have been moved so they dont die of heat stroke. Their birds are always seeming terrified and they can't fly. Their dogs seemed scared and their crabs are iffy. The items are WAY TO FU**ING over priced as I had them try to scam me multiple times with a '200' dollar LED light bar. Which makes me angry. Since the exact product they attempted to sell me at Dees is only 70$ for a 55 gallon and the one they were attempting to sell was a 29 gallon one, used and worn down. Plus their fish have given my fish ich before I found out about their horrible and abusive care.Honestly make the trip to Dees or Petco both places have better staff and care for their animals. I have had SO SO SO MUCH better luck with Petco's animals only had one fish die on arrival due to it stressing alot.Dees would be the optimal place to go their service and pets outstanding plus their Fahaka puffer fish is a friendly face to greet you in the store!:) There's the honest review of fishtales. Hopefully they change.

This store is not a pet store. It's a cheap crafts store that has animals in the back. The old location was okay at best, but the new location is just awful. Their selection of pet supplies is a joke. They keep Bettas in every tank (there are a number of fish that are fin-nippers and the poor Bettas always look stressed) and I bought a Gourami here and it took the worker 15 minutes to catch it. So much stress on the fish! Also, probable puppy-mill puppies sold here for $1000+ and kept in rarely cleaned cages. Disgusting.

Prices are ok a fish chemicals this is strictly a fish review because the reason why I went was to get a Panda Cory now this is a $3.99 fish plus tax I did pay more but why he was placed in a bag before I arrived and I personally as most fish keepers wanted to pick him out but he was already bagged I also made the worker or owner aware I was driving from Goreville therefore putting him into a bag with no air not a good idea the whole point of filtration is your also providing oxygen in the water maybe she had it but sure didn't put air in his bag for the ride home..... If she bagged him when I said I was omw then he was without air for over a hour fish cruelty I mean seriously any way he died in the bag before I got home !!! I had to drive 25 miles there and home just enough time. So I didn't get to pick my fish I paid 2 bucks extra for him to die during acclimating it was so sad as someone who has 4 healthy Cory fish and about 23 total Wow 😲 is all there is to be said

They recently moved deeper into Herrin. And have less hours that they are open. Less space as well in the new shop. However, still a nice little store if you want a lizard or fish. I personally wouldn't get a dog from there.

Went in hoping to support a local business and I left after about 5 minutes. There were four cars in the parking lot, but not a staff member in sight. The whole store smelled like feces.When I went back to the aquarium section, about half of the tanks contained dead, rotting fish that had obviously been left in the tank for more than a couple days. In addition to the dead fish, every tank was visibly dirty, with algae covering every available surface. Walmart takes better care of their fish than this specialty store.So yeah, I won't be going back. Buyer beware.

They really need a revamping in this store, everything feels outdated (supply wise) and I feel bad for the rodents. I know most of them are only going to be feeders but still. An I can't help but wonder how often those birds (especially the larger ones ) get to come out of their cages to stretch they're wings. Also would not buy any of the kittens from here, bought one quite a time back and the poor thing died within a day. Pretty sure it was ill when I bought it but still it was extremely depressing.

Don't buy the fish! My family spent $32.00 on fish. All seven fish died after two hours. They said it was our water. Funny, the same kind of fish from Walmart bought the next day (at a much cheaper price) are still alive in that tank.

Very Friendly and patient with my Fur Baby!!I took my little dog to get his nails clipped and She was in training and there by herself and still was able to Take care of the front of the store customers and got my dog to trust her first and it went Very Smooth and Easy when the nail cutting began and he didn't care 1 little bit,because she did a great Job and didn't hurt him n he didn't even whine!!!!!!! Thank You Fish tales and the new girl who took care of Him!!!!

The customer service was excellent (better than expected) I spoil my baby (2 1/2yr old pup) Chicago "Bear" Rossy; unfortunately on a budget; for less than $30 I was able to buy 2 outfits, a bully chew and what is now his favorite squeak toy (believe me, he's spoiled and has many) and you can't get him away from his new chew or toy. The shop smelled so good 😊 I refuse to take him anywhere else to get groomed and "literally" God willing, I will be buying a kitten from Fish 🐟 Tales soon because the animals they sell are very 😁, clean, well kept and friendly and calm. My husband and I went to paint a Christmas tree just like the vintage trees. We did have to wear a mask the whole time we was there in he store. It was so much fun the trees were so large we was there for 2 hrs just painting. When you get there you pick out what kind of tree you would like to have. Either a big one or some smaller ones. They also have the truck with the tree in the back. So you just pay for the item and hat includes the glaze that you paint on the item. If you want any specialty glaze that cost a extra 3$. Also there is a firing fee for firing the item in a kiln. It is 4$ for a adult and 2$ for a child. They have any type of pottery that you could imagine. They have decorative items from very small figurines to larger items. They had plates, platters, cups, mugs, tumblers, piggy banks and everything in between. We will definitely be going back and taking our kids to paint things for Mother's day and many other holidays.

Price for mice is good. Staff doesn't speak to customers when they walk in. Or while customers are there. Animal wise-very very limited. Unless u want a fish or a $1000 dog.

There are dead fish on the floor. Looks to be like a nice place to go aside from the fish just laying in the floor. Also fell with my 5 month old in my arms because there was a drop in their floor I wasn't expecting since there weren't any signs warning of it. Not a great experience for us today.

I go here for the hampster bedding as it's the lowest price I have found! I appreciate the fact I am not badgered from the moment I walk in by someone trying to make a sale. I have and will continue to recommend this place. 4 stars instead of 5 because the puppies are soooop cute but too expensive for me :)
