Recently adopted a pup from the Barn, and it was a breeze! Everyone was super friendly, and “Harvey” but now named “Buddy”, is the bestest boy ever. I’m convinced he came potty trained lol. Such a great dog. Loves everyone and running around the big yard. Highly recommend Barn on Baseline!

Clare & Calvin our fur babies adopted from The Barn! The staff at The Barn were just great people. Got a great deal of info about the kittens and a coupon for both to have a free exam at Rochelle Vet Clinic. There are many more sweet animals waiting to be adopted❤️

I was very excited to adopt our 1st dog! We adopted a big boy, Great Pyrenees mix. We were so happy and excited the shelter spoken highly of him, he seemed to be literally perfect! Well he got home and he was anything but, he has severe anxiety and separation issues. Not only that but was extremely fesr aggressive. Our vet was very worried and we made an appointment with a behavior veterinarian right away, unfortunately we had to wait months to get in. I reached out to the shelter hoping for some help or direction on what to do until then, but radio silence. I tried messaging them on facebook, their email, i called and left messages for a manager to call me back, nothing. My dog ended up on 7 different meds just to cope with life. His aggression was so bad we ended up taking the behavior vets recommendation and put him down for the safety of ourselves and our home with our other beloved pets. For over a year we could have no house guests or family over for the fear our dog would horrifically hurt someone. Couldn't take him out in public. And in home he was just stir crazy and destroyed everything. My heart broke for that dog and we did everything in our power to try and help him, try to give him the best life possible. He also needed a double knee surgery and the specialist refused to operate due to aggression issues recovery would have been impossible. It was devastating to have my 1st dog adoption experience go this way and I'm very disappointed in this "organization" and their silence. May that sweet boy rest in peace and may his past traumas be long gone i hope he only knew love and respect when he was under my care. I wish things were different. Anyway, wouldn't recommend adopting from them. They either just flat out lie about their animals or they do no behavior testing to find out issues to inform families about.

I volunteer here regularly and the people who work and volunteer here really care about the animals. Procedures are followed and cages are kept as clean as possible. They have grass yards for dogs to run and a beautiful prairie for dogs to walk! Every time I've brought up a concern with an animal it gets addressed and the animal is seen by a vet, if required. They care about where the animals are homed and take the time to make sure it's the right fit. My only reason for 4 stars is that they need more volunteers! Shelter animals simply cannot get the same treatment as an individual house pet and they really benefit from 1:1 attention. The current volunteers are wonderful but they need more!

We went because we are interested in adopting another kitten. It was awesome to be able to play and see the kitten. We didn't know how much they charged so we, were just going to get some info. We will be going back to get a kitten soon.

LOVE this place. So good with their animals. Great service. The animals are well taken care of and made sure the families are a good fit. My parents adopted a dog 4 years ago from here. She is happy, healthy and a perfect fit. Keep up the good work.

Friendly and helpful staff. Animals seem we'll kept. There's 2 areas of the business. The shelter for animals in need. And the pet hotel for boarding. Both business seemed clean and like a healthy environment.

Would never recommend trying to surrender an animal. 1/10 customer service and the woman on the phone was unnecessarily rude. Especially when you are honest about the reasons for being able to take care of the dog and that being a human babyAlso, informing her we are unable to pay for the animal anymore, she said we could drop her off with 55 dollars as a fee.

We have used The Barn on Baseline a few times to board our dog. All of the people that work there have been very nice, friendly and great with our dog. The place is very clean and they have nice spacious themed rooms with a doggie door that takes your dog to a nice sheltered area outside for them to use the bathroom. Not only do we enjoy bringing our dog there but he loves it too!

I've gotten both my pups there and a cat when I lived at home.. The cat was adopted 7 years ago, one pup about 3 years ago and the other dog last year. I've visited this location to donate supplies as well. Each visit from then and until now, everything and the animals were clean and if they weren't, they were being cleaned. All the animals I've adopted here were healthy when I adopted them and still are now! The shelter does a great job at taking care of the animals especially when they don't receive as many donations, volunteers, and help as other shelters in the area. I'm so glad The Barn has started posting pictures and descriptions of the adoptable animals on their social media sites as well!

I did not have a good experience with this shelter. I inquired about a specific dog and communicated with the staff for almost two weeks. I told them in my emails that I had small children. All adoptions were put on hold due to pcr and titer testing on all the animals (they were waiting for results to come back.) Once adoptions were back open, they said the dog was available. I told them I would be driving to visit the animal and possibly adopt. After driving and hour and 20 min one way, my kids and I walked in and I told them the dog's name we were there to see. The woman said, "well, no, you will not be seeing him because he is not good with kids." That would have been good to know before driving all the way from Madison! The woman (I'm guessing the owner?) at the front desk instead instructed the tech (tech was awesome!) which dogs to bring out and show us. It was unlike any shelter I have been to. Here, they decide which animals you get to see instead of you looking at all of the available animals. I did not get a good vibe from this woman or the shelter as a whole. I know they get a lot of calls, but they need a better process for communicating about specific animals. What a waste of time, energy and gas money.

Wow! Our dogs got to spend a weekend in a room together. Not in a crate together, but a room with a bed and a door to the outside -- and a tv?! Staff was great and the dogs came back energized. Thinking about this place for the occasional daycare need as well. Highly recommended.

We went there on Sunday looking for a cat. We have a toddler and an 80# German shepherd, so we were looking for just the right cat to join our family. We were greeted by Carol and she asked us what we were looking for in a cat. After explaining what we wanted She introduced us to a few cats. She seemed very knowledgeable about each cat's personality. We decided to go with her first choice and now we have Max. He is going to be a nice addition to our family. Big thank you to Carol and the people at the barn on baseline.

The Barn on Baseline does an amazing job caring for the animals there. My parents adopted a lab mix puppy from them 3 years ago and they did an excellent of taking care of her and making sure both she and my parents were a good fit. The staff is always kind and helpful. Thank you Barn on Baseline. I always recommend people go here when looking to adopt.

Boarded my dog for several months while I was dealing with some health issues. Very friendly and always accomodating staff. They even sent me photos/video of my pup! Great communication! When I went to pick up my dog and saw the facility for the first time, I was quite impressed by the space. Highly recommended!

I have adopted 3 of my last 4 fur babies from here. The first was 12 years ago and the most recent in December of '18. All of my animals have been healthy and have had their vaccinations. The staff care about the animals and want them to go to forever homes. The facility is clean and animals are well cared for.

Unfor this place deserves ZERO STARS as my fam and I walked into the kennel to the abnormally loud barking and horrific smell of the dogs in the cages. The front receptionist was nice but seemed scared to say anything wrong as an older woman (Poss owner) wasnt so nice and while even a nice cat entered the room we were in to look at a dog she came in and grabbed the cat by the neck and threw her out. Horrible experince, need ear plugs for the kennel and honesy, IMO this place needs to be shut down and realease the animals to another place whom would clean and respect them more. 1 star as I couldnt leave ZERO!

Tried adopting here several times. The petfinder website is not up to date and many pets are already adopted or have missing information. The many times I reached out, I could've avoided being disappointed if their website was up to date and specifically said what was required for each dog. Emails included: "this pet was already adopted" "this pet requires x" but none of this information was online. Their website link online only leads to petfinder where most dogs have no information at all posted. This has happened 5-6 times.

We recently got a new puppy from this location. It's a nice barn-turned-into-a-shelter facility. The dogs live outside in shaded cages with plenty of water and food. The people at the shelter were kind and helpful.

After working there and adopting a cat there, personally I’d say it’s a very unorganized facility that needs better management in order to be ran more efficiently to care for the animals better, at both the shelter and kennel. Everything was so controlling by the management you didn’t even know what was right from wrong, and then they’d make you feel like everything is your fault or everything you did was wrong. I’m saddened by my employment here because I really wanted to work with the animals, not nasty management. Also, In my whole life I have never adopted an animal from an animal shelter and NOT be given any Vet Records (employee or not, that’s something you provide the new owner so they are aware of when their new pet was last treated, etc.). Running an animal shelter or any business is very hard work, but not having proper training in place or paperwork to hire employees, or paperwork showing/giving proof the pet you are adopting has been “up to date with shots, etc.” as the website states the animals are, is called running a bad business, profit or not.
