I traded in one of my Fender Custom shop guitars towards another one they had listed online. The transaction was very smooth and I was able to receive the guitar in amazing condition. Out of the other guitar stores that I have purchased or had business with this is the first one where I have received my guitar with all the bells and whistles attended to. Fresh polished frets, brand new strings, smooth volume and tone pots, and perfect action are a must with a new guitar and Music Makers nailed it! Not to mention that it is accurately intonated which not many companies will make sure is right when you receive it. I can’t thank the owner enough for the care he handled this guitar with and for the dedication he shows to please the customer. If you are looking for a business that provides Fender Custom shop guitars then look no further.

My partner is a musician and frequently uses this store for all his supplies, equipment and fixes. The store is clean, organized, and very knowledgeable. If you're a beginner, intermediate or even expert this store can and will be able to cater to you.The owner and staff are super friendly and will take the time to answer questions. The prices on everything are quite reasonable as well! To wrap up, you'll really enjoy this store if you have a great admiration for music.

Had the store send me a rock bottom offer on a guitar was interested in shipped to me on Reverb. Called the store and talked to Dave( The owner) and he knocked another $40 off that to pick it up. The 45 minute trip was worth it. As stated, He had it waiting on the counter when I got there. Boxed it up for me, And was on my way back home in under 10 minutes. Great store! Great price! and Superior service from Dave and staff at Music Makers!!

Always enjoy a visit to Music Makers! It's just around the corner from Moon Dog Drum House, and since Cherry St guitar is gone... Well, Music Makers is truly a one stop music shop. You can find equipment and any other gear you might need for your guitars or your drum kit. The owner, Dave is a very friendly and personable guy. But I had dropped off a guitar to be restrung and met (one of the BTS guys) Jay, who put my new strings on my guitar for me and shined up my guitar and got it looking as good as new! And Jay even went beyond what I'd asked (and I don't mean by him shining up my acoustic/electric Suzuki) but his friendliness and willingness to remedy another guitar that had a brand new but broken string. So I only needed to replace that one single string, but Jay's friendliness and willingness to help a fellow musician is why I'll be going back to Music Makers even before I need my next set of new strings! Thank you Jay and MM!

Recently, I had an issue with the sound chain in my studio setup, and couldn't figure it out for a week. Finally I called Music Makers, where I bought the USB interface. Dave lent a mic to me, which proved it wasn't my mic being a problem, and then Steve advised me on checking the drivers. Bingo. Problem solved.Thing is, they're all really smart and nice people. They actually care. About you, and about sound. They'll listen to you.Stop in to look at guitars and instruments. You'll find real deals and good advice. I'm so grateful today. Thanks Dave!

I went in for a capo. The guy running the store showed me where the capos were, then went to the back to get some more that had just arrived. They had a good selection of gear, and the prices seemed reasonable.

Came in to kill some time- an employee was glad to let me play some high end fender guitars, talked about them knowledgeably, answered questions and it was a joy. I bought a reasonably priced used pedal. I will be back.

My daughter wanted to get my Grandson a new guitar for his birthday. I have done business for years even as far back when Bill Reeves had his store. Was able to find find a beautiful Ovation with a soft case and other accessories. They were very helpful a patient and not pushy. Highly recommend them. They also had a huge group of Blue Grass musicians playing inside the store. Very nice!!!

Really nice music store and much bigger than I expected. I have family in the music retail business and can recognize a well-run store with a positive atmosphere and happy employees, which translates to happy customers like myself. As a musician, I loved the selection in there. Lots of great stuff - they're a Fender and PRS dealer among others - and a wide variety of used gear, which is always my favorite part of a music store.

Excellent. We needed a sound system for our church and after much research went with Dave & Co at MusicMakers. Very happy that we did. The cost was very reasonable and the performance of the system exceeded our expectations and expectations were high to begin with. Have nothing but good to say about the store and the people. Also got a great deal on a Yamaha P105 keyboard. Their prices are very competitive even with online only retailers. Five stars definitely.

Came in to get a tuning machine fixed on my bass. They had it taken care of very quickly and it was extremely affordable. The staff is also very knowledgeable and friendly.

Last five years I have purchased several guitars several by I'm talking around 10 I walked in to this music store a lady did not even ask me how they can help me all she said was what are you looking for looked around for awhile noticed that the pricing was a little bit outrageous. But the main thing was the woman that put the sour taste in my mouth by acting like it was a bother for us to even walk in the store. Oh well their loss my game I'll continue purchasing equipment from American music supply Sweetwater. Won't go back

These guys are crooks. Everything they sell is overpriced, and their services are terrible. I went in to install a new bridge pickup for my electric guitar, and they quoted an unreasonable price for the job. Since I was already there I figured whatever, go ahead. They estimated the job would take about 24 hours to complete. Little did I know "24 hours" meant a month and a half to them. I'm not even kidding. Every time I went in to the store to check, they yelled at me and said "there's a guy who comes in to do the work, but he's been just swamped lately. He'll get it done when he gets a chance". So 1.5 months later I receive a call, and it's finally done. I go to pick up my guitar, and plug it in to one of their amps to check out how it sounds. It sounded like something was damaged in the guitar. I told them that there was something seriously wrong here, but they said it's probably their amp and I should go home and check it out. I went home, plugged it in and it was messed up. It literally sounded like metal springs grinding against each other. The strangest noise I've ever heard from a guitar.When I took the guitar back to them, they were incredibly rude and told me it was not their problem and the pickup was broken. So I was out $130, and left with a broken guitar. I ended up having to spend another $200 to get the whole thing back to playing condition.I learned my lesson, and have warned all my friends against this store.

unfortunate, but i’d had a guitar in storage for a year and the fret board was a disaster.they did an excellent job cleaning that, however, they took it upon themselves to badly alter the guitar without asking us despite us being there and only explained what they’d done after it was too late. another thing about these “fixes” was that they didn’t address the problem at all! they said the action was too high the lower you got on the neck so they shaved the frets?? they also took some off the bridge, though only to the top, not where the strings rest in it. i’m a novice so i didn’t catch this in store, just paid for strings and cleaning and alterations for $40. value of guitar negatively impacted & i paid for it! nice and nice sounding 20yr old, semi acoustic fender. such a shame, and as i said before i was in store and they didn’t ask! i would get my strings changed there again, though stressing that nothing else be done without consulting me

Awesome music shop. I worked with Dave there and purchased an Ibanez RG8PB natural flat 8-string and could not be happier. After seeing the listing online and speaking to Dave over the phone, I felt more than comfortable agreeing to purchase the guitar. Dave promptly sent me a PayPal invoice and worked with me to arrange a day and time for me to pick up my new Ibanez. He held it for me until I was able to make the 2.5 hour drive (one way mind you) to Galesburg. The shop was in a nice downtown area, was very clean and organized, had beautiful instruments, and was staffed by two very friendly and welcoming employees. The guitar felt and looked better than I expected. Literally, Brand -New. The guitar plays and sounds great and I am more than pleased with my experience with Music Makers. I will attempt to go out of my way to do business with them in the future.

I have got to admit I have never ordered a guitar through the mail . I am an old school guy so when I want an axe I have my choice of stores to walk in , play a couple of guitars and walk out with one that fits.Then NYC became the epicenter of Covid 19 .I don't know which made me cry more, loosing my job or watching the last guitar store NY close its doors. I tracked down one of last modified 72 Telecaster thinline to Music Makers . That being said I was very nervous about getting a guitar from a complete stranger. Well these guys at Music Makers are the real deal! They were very sympathetic of the hell I am in the middle of and bent over backwards to get me the tele in one piece fast. It's nice to know that there are still guitar people working in stores that care about Old guitar people like me.
