I had no idea this place existed in Elgin! I usually drive pretty far for quality aquarium plants so I’m pretty excited that this is close to home. The staff was super friendly, store is clean, plants are affordable and overall this place is super aesthetic. I purchased a few plants for my fancy goldfish aquarium, I’ll definitely be back for more!!

My first time in these aquatic paradise, and will not be the last!! I just put a foot in there and I just fell deeply in love with the store! 😍 Clear and naturally aquascaped aquariums EVERYWHERE, healthy and beautiful fish to choose from. The staff energy felt very nice and they are really kind even if you're a beginner, I feel an encouragement that I never felt in any other place, really knowledgeable people, I would like to work with them. Definitely worth taking the train to this beautiful place! I came back home happy with enchanting guppy fish.

This is a wonderful destination for the aquarium community. Freshwater and reef alike! Visit their Pod Bar. Check out their high-quality line of aquariums and unique stands, including tabletop stands. Very knowledgeable staff and owner. Clean tanks, healthy fish, corals, plants, and terrarium & palledarium stock. This is a must stop business. It's worth a drive if you're not local to the store.

Very nice display and lounge areas. The facility is very clean and provides a very nice aquatic experience. There's a geat selection of fish. I've been in several times and they have new, gorgeous fish coming in regularly.Very reasonable prices on fish and aquascaping supplies. I've purchased a bit of everything over my weeks of visiting, different rocks, sand, cobble, spiderwood, substrate, fish, food, brine shrimp, water, plants and then some. On top of great finds, staff and management are amazing. Scott, Emily, and Zack are very knowledgeable, attentive and provide excellent customer service. Have been a regular since my first visit and will continue to come back.

Awesome store, very cool setup. There are a lot of really nice tanks setup in the store to checkout. Good friendly employees, they have a good selection of freshwater fish, plants, foods and all sorts of accessories. There is a great selection of saltwater fish and things as well. I have been in twice about a week apart, there were many new plants and fish 🐟 on the 2nd visit. I like this place and will be a return customer. Just bought a Magenta Mystery Snail 🐌 today, he is happy and loving his new home.

Woooooowie!! Such an awesome store. I live in another state, but visited this store while on a trip to Illinois. Would have bought more if I could carry it all with me in my check in. Staff is super friendly and their plants, fish and dry goods selection is fabulous! Amazing hardscape selection!

Last weekend I was there and saw this massive green carpet anemone!I couldn’t resist and bought it along with 2 crabs, wonderful staff and I always enjoy talking to the owner. I’ll be stopping in soon to possibly buy the lights they use for a project tank ( aquarium essentials- add on light )Also carpet is doing great , next to my purple carpet !

They know what they are doing in both freshwater and saltwater hobbies. Very happy with how clean and pretty the store was. They have more high quality well kept fish and their plants were very affordable, matching their websites claims. Will definitely come here again!

I'm really disappointed to be writing this review. I thought I'd found a reliable, local aquarium shop, and I've been relatively happy with most of the livestock I purchased from them, even though their live plants are full of snails.The other day I purchased 7 harlequin rasboras and quickly realized that 3 of them have large sores on their sides. When I tried to call the store I reached a corporate message line telling me to push 1 to reach the local store. Pushing 1 didn't work, and I ended up leaving a message at their corporate office asking for a call back, which I have yet to receive.I'm *extremely* disappointed that Zooxae is just another profiteering corporation. We desperately need some local shops that put livestock and customer service ahead of profits.Update: I have yet to receive a call from the corporate office, but one of the employees heard my concerns and did what he could to make it right. I'm still unlikely to go back, I'm frustrated that Americans exist only to give money to our corporate overlords and have no interest in propping yet another one up.

It's all a hobbyist coud wish for :■ In esthetic appeal■Well spaced displays■Ample options on displays and not just catalogs■The most friendly staff with a standing out vigor and passiomyto helpThis place amazes me every time i visit .It's as if this store possess a secret spell to read your most desired aspects we wish an aquarium shop had and they JUST ADD IT and just keep on adding it.Where many shops stop at maintaing a fixed portfolio, 'Zooxae' seem to be more fluid in its own identity, perfecting it's portfolio every step of the way. Thus tgey keep making my 40 minute drive to this shop worth every second of my time.

Great prices, especially for stones and driftwood, they treat their fish far better than any chain store I've been to. Example: All of their betta fish are in separate, well sized, filtered aquariums as opposed to tiny plastic cups.

Beautiful local fish store with a multitude of options for fresh and salt water hobbyist! The vibe here is amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable personal. I drive 1hr from Chicago just to stargaze at the setups and pick up supplies. The aqua lounge up the road is a must see!!

First time I was here the workers were friendly and answered questions about their stuff. This time I go and even though there are a bunch of ppl working, not one can help me get plants. It's more important to stand in the corner and chit chat and just ignore people unless we directly go up and tell them help us. Not going to come back if ppl just ignore you

This is the Cleanest Reef shop in the area, I’ve seen em all and this rivals some of the nations best with cleanliness, variety from freshwater to saltwater to very creative brackishwater. They fuel creativity, there is no store more deserving of 5 stars. From start of a build to the finishing touch with copepods these guys are awesome.

The staff is always friendly and extremely helpful without being overbearing. They give you time to look for anything you need or want, and will always find out answers to your questions. What is really unique about this place are the tanks, and the variety of saltwater and freshwater fish selections. The tanks are stunning and extremely aesthetically pleasing.

This store is in a league of it's own. Phenomenal! Great selection of tropical fish and plants and fish I had never seen before. The store is spotless and the help is truly knowledgeable and helpful, and not pesty. I really do not think I will ever shop for tropical fish anywhere else. This store is just the best of the best!

This is easily the nicest store of its kind I've ever been in. The aesthetics of this store are amazing. The thought and details that went into this place are off the charts. They have a wide variety of products from fresh fish to equipment. The staff is awesome and knowledgeable. You could literally spend hours in this store. All around awesome place.
