Absolutely phenomenal service from the front desk to the doctor. We called and got a same day appointment due to an infection on our girl and the ladies were so wonderful with our pup and explained everything and made sure we had no questions. Pricing is very reasonable. 10/10 would recommend and come back even though it's a 30 minute drive.

HLAH was amazing when taking my kitten in for a follow up after being spade and adopted. Communication was smooth and we were in and out in a timely manner. The staff was so kind and have been generous enough to answer questions via text since leaving the appointment. Highly recommend.

They declined my dogs medication prescription with chewy without notifying me. They require continuous follow up appointments to renew medication. Nothing has changed with my dogs condition there’s no reason I need to be seen and waste money on frequent appointments to tell them nothings changed and to please approve my dogs medications. Abruptly stopping medications especially the one my dog is on is dangerous. This vet should have notified me if they knew anything about ABRUPTLY stopping medications. She’s been without for weeks. Money hungry veterinarian. Banfield hospital doesnt do this. I’m taking my business elsewhere.

Horseshoe lake is the only place for compassionate and loving care. Even during the pandemic they took care of the four legged kids.Munchie does slip his boys the occasional chippie or French fry but our critters are healthy and well.

The shelter I adopted my elderly dog from uses Horseshoe Lake for their medical needs. After one visit with my dog, there was no reason for me to look elsewhere! The entire staff is knowledgeable and patient with any and all questions. I once used the after hours emergency line and was greeted with a calm, empathetic vet who comforted me as I assessed my dog. Her typical vet called to follow up the next day to make sure she was back to normal! The techs are also so kind and actively listen to concerns. The vet helps prioritize services if financing is an issue (they also accept Scratch Pay and Care Credit!) The care is exceptionally great and prices are competitive with similar clinics back home. I cannot give enough praise to this staff. I even switched my senior cat over to their care!

All of the staff here have been really great to everyone of our pets. The cost is a little on the higher end but they really are top notch. We dearly love our pets and they treat them as good as I can, if not better. Your pets are in good hands here.

They always take great care of our cats & are very knowledgeable in getting & keeping them healthy. They were incredibly kind when we had to put one of our sweet kitties down.

Awesome place to take your furbabies! Everyone is awesome and treats all pets as they were theirs. My cat Frannie has been seen by Dr Chris Randla and Dr Ryan Jacob and they're amazing with her! Came highly recommended and am also highly recommending to take furbabies here!UPDATING: Since my original review, I've had to let Frannie cross the Rainbow Bridge (8/17/19). The staff was VERY compassionate with the whole process. They let me stay with her for a while before and after the process. This was when Dr Lindsey Gammon was still there and she was EXCELLENT with her (and even myself) that day. Since then, I've adopted another furbaby (cat named Dewey) and he can be on the spicy side. This last visit he didn't want to cooperate well during any of the visit in the room and in the back. Dr Cameron Willoughby and vet tech Sarah were great with him that day throughout.

Do Not take your Feral Cats to Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital. I had a nightmare situation with lack of communication. I cry everyday and have deep sadness from this experience.

The staff always make sure your pretty gets the proper attention and treatment (if needed). We've been going there ever since we got Mama and she had her litter. We use them for all our furiend's needs.

I could not be more pleased with my experiences at Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital. I am definitely a crazy dog mom, but the Horseshoe Lake team is AMAZING! From the moment you walk in until the end of your visit, the Horseshoe Lake team makes sure that all of your needs are taken care of. Dr. Davidson was extremely thorough and kind. She took the time to explain everything to me and she addressed all of my concerns. Dr. Davidson even reached out on a holiday just to check in on Anna. Sarah, the tech, was also amazing with Anna and so sweet! I will recommend Dr. Davidson and her team to everyone I know. I felt like Dr. Davidson and Sarah took time to get to know Anna and make her feel comfortable. So grateful that we found Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital!

I have been taking my pets to horseshoe lake since 2019, all experiences have been fine but I’ve never thought it was exceptional by any means, I’ve stuck through it with them as they have had lots of turnover with vets leaving, different vet techs constantly all that because it was easy to go back to the same place. I’ve always thought they were a little more on the expensive side but man… their prices have really gotten out of hand and are not comparable nor competitive with different vets in the area. It is going to be time for my animals and I to move on to somewhere different.

Need a wonderful groomer? Jennifer at Horsehoe Lake Animal Hospital is your go-to! Besides being the best groomer Sammy & Bogey have ever had, she is just this positive, upbeat, wonderful, spirited soul. She listens to what style you want for your pooch and always brings it. They walk out prancing because they smell wonderful and look like a million bucks.

Got my kitty spayed. They spayed her. Lol. The cone of shame didn't work for her...she kept getting out of it, and they helped find some alternatives. Good people to deal with during a stressful time. Kitties don't do recovery well!

If you're looking for a vet office that cares more about money than the care of your animals, then this is the place. First instance: I was quoted a price for surgery and scheduled it. After I showed up for the surgery check-in, I was told it would be almost twice the price quoted since the doctor they scheduled it with does open surgery instead of laproscopic. No one bothered to let me know before I showed up. Next instance: I took my puppies there to get their stitches out after being fixed. They weighed them and both were close but still under the weight cutoff for their monthly meds, so I asked the vet tech multiple times if we needed to go up to the next weight range since they're close to the cutoff and she kept saying no, keep them on the current weight range for this month, but when Chewy contacted them for approval, the vet denied it and said they need to be on the next weight range. Latest instance: my dog has worms that are very visible in the stool, but they won't treat him until after they send it away and get the results back, just in case he needs meds for something else also. I'm already there with my dog, but I have to wait a couple of days for the results to come back to see if he also needs other meds. This is ridiculous. Meanwhile, I now have to hope my other dogs don't get worms from him while I wait for the results to come back. They're WAY overpriced and will take your money in a heartbeat, but they really don't care about your animals. Money hungry with poor care!

I have taken my pets to Horseshoe for many years. Staff are always very kind. Dr. Willoughby is amazing. He saved the life of my beautiful Beagle Ellie following an event where she got into a mouse bait trap and was poisoned. His persistence, without a doubt, saved her life. I cannot begin to express how thankful I am.

We've been going here for 14 yrs. 2 years ago we moved to St. Louis but still come here. Rachel, Christina, Kim at the front desk are wonderful . I know I'm forgetting someone. Dr Reinbold and Dr Schultz are the best. Renee and Sarah are wonderful. I can't even imagine taking my boys anywhere else. Thank you all. Everyone here are wonderful. Also the tech today sat on floor giving chief kisses and love and Chief went in with him. So happy as always with my visits .

I just got my pup Emma last August. The shelter encouraged me to use Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital, at least for the first visit. They are not terribly close, but I'm glad I went. They are very professional, friendly and reasonably priced. I love that they use texts and email to help with communications. I had questions for the vet and they were answered with no cost - who does that?!!! I will be keeping Emma with them.

We just brought our 2 dogs in just to get there nails clipped our oldest dog rose was very nervous, we asked for a muzzle so we could hear the nurse. Rose doesn't like the nurse for her to calm down she needs to be talked to and petted but they refused to and well in general made it worse. The nurse said she didn't feel comfortable to clip there nails which is strange cuz our old vet in Godfrey was great with rose and yes she had a muzzle on even then. Our youngest dog was fine but she only barks if her sister started barking. I definitely recommend the Daniel Randell veterinary clinic in Godfrey. But to this place it was our first and very last visit with the horseshoe lake animal hospital.

Dr. Schwartz is the best. She was at another clinic before Horseshoe. I called there to make an appt. and they told me she was no longer there. We freaked out, finally we found her here a few years ago now and we really like her. She even made a house call on her way home, (we live close), to look at our 16 year old lab.

Their pricing is nuts. Wayyy overpriced for the simplest things. I suggest going somewhere else and asking about their pricing first. We were able to get in right away, which was nice. But probably because the place is so overpriced, people can’t afford it and don’t bring their animals in because of it. The exam fee alone is $90. It costs more than all the medicine we needed.

I have been using this veterinarian (Dr. Randla) and the Pet Resort for well over a year now. The staff is so friendly and all about their patients! I have seen so many comments about how pricey things are here, and yes, they CAN be pricey... but like the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for." I have been to "cheaper" vets before, and when on a tight budget, that's what you need to do! But the care wasn't always the best and I would end up having to pay more in the end because all of the required needs/shots/paperwork wouldn't be met. HSL DOES meet those requirements for yearly shots and rabies tag updates! I once had a yearly exam for my pup, Chase, and the staff was able to help me stay within my budget for the exam, getting only the necessary treatments/shots needed to get him by for the year, along with an exam to make sure he wasn't infected with whip-worm after being exposed to a positive patient (I was not aware of the whip-worm infection until AFTER my pets had a play-weekend with a friend). Dr. Randla is always friendly and gets down on the floor with his patients, to their level, to help them feel more at ease during the exam. Megan, one of the techs, is ALWAYS in the room with my fur-babies - she's the BEST!! I will only schedule appointments when I know she's working and when Dr. Randla can see them. The Pet Resort is another WONDERFUL part to this business. I have tried other kennel facilities before, and my poor babies usually end up being separated from each other, stored in (large, but still cramped) wire kennels and didn't get as much play time as I was told they would. The Pet Resort offers so many add-on packages for your pet's stay! The first time I used their Resort, my dogs were able to board in a shared kennel - not just some wire cage, but a full on 10'X'10' ROOM with beds, toys, and plenty of space to spread out and play during their 8:30PM regularly scheduled "let's play loudly and make mom's house a mess" play time they do at home. Megan, the tech, used to work in the Resort regularly, so she would always send me updates when my babies would stay here - text updates and photos! The best part of the Resort, that I don't see much with other kennel facilities, is they don't charge a cancellation fee. It's like they KNOW that sometimes unexpected things come up, which require cancellations on appointments and reservations, and they DON'T CHARGE YOU FOR IT! This is a HUGE help! Just recently, I called to block off a LONG time period for boarding this summer, because I wasn't sure yet when our family would take a vacation during this blocked off time. I was able to secure a shared room for my fur-babies for a 12-day window until I had solid dates. When I called to finalize my dates, it was SO easy! I wasn't charged extra for changing my reservation time slot and even verified that, if I had to cancel my reservation for any reason - even the morning of the reservation, I would NOT be charged any cancellation fees! I can't tell you how much of a breath of fresh air that was hearing that! I seriously won't go anywhere else! Between Dr. Randla and Megan, this facility is the ONLY place my fur-babies will go!!

Took my cat in today for her wellness check up. This vet was recommended by her adoption agency and I am very satisfied with the visit! Of course, with the pandemic, the location offers only curbside visits. The instructions on curbside were simple and easy to follow. Once checked in, the staff were polite and friendly. I kept getting updates via phone call while I sat outside. My wellness visit went quick, and everyone I talked to (vet included) were patient and very happy to respond to questions. I have had cats before who were TERRIFIED of the vet, but my kitty was calm and happy and I thank the professionals here to make her happy. They have found a new client!

We have been taking our two beloved pit bulls here since 2014, and we really appreciate this place. They’re staff, including admin, techs, pharmacy, and doctors, are all consistently kind and professional, and we feel they care about our pets. They seem to us to be on the pricier end of vet care, but we are typically comfortable paying it for good quality. Dr Randla has been a favorite of our family, but since the clinic got more busy with the pandemic (seemingly universal with vets), we have seen other vets at HLAH and always had a good experience. We would also do grooming there but when we’ve tried they haven’t been able to accommodate larger dogs (ours are ~65lbs). Thank you Horseshoe Lake!

TL;DR Dishonest business practices. I would recommend all new customers to ask about how this facility bills. Be aware that they bill for exams each visit (even just when getting shots) if your dog is a puppy. Be aware that they do not tell you what they are charging you for.We adopted our pup about a month ago. The adoption agency recommended Horseshoe clinic and they paid for the initial exam. We received the initial exam 25 Feb. At that exam, we made a follow-up appointment for a rabies and parvo shot in 2 weeks. We had the appointment this past Friday 11 March (2 weeks since last exam). Everyone was very friendly during the appointment. They said I’d have to make an additional appointment for the rabies vaccine because my dog was too young. No biggie. When I paid, the bill was $85. I thought that was high for a shot but we are new pet parents so I didn’t think too much into it until I saw the invoice.I looked at the receipt and they charged me $59 for an exam and a “clinical brief” in addition to the shot. The vet was with us in our room for 2 minutes MAX and asked if we had any concerns. We said no. I was confused why he was asking us this if we were just there for a shot because our pup was JUST SEEN 2 weeks ago. I thought he was just being nice. 😂After seeing the invoice, I called the clinic to ask why I had a $59 charge when all I made the appointment for was get her booster. They said a dog HAS to have an exam before getting a shot. I said okay but I felt tricked since I was not made aware of that beforehand!I called a different animal clinic because that seems weird for the clinic to charge me without telling me. The local place I called said they do NOT charge for the exam when it is just for a shot.To be clear, my appointment time was 330pm and I was out of the clinic at 337pm. I did not ask for my dog to receive an additional exam.I spoke with Mr. JP today and he said it is their policy to charge the exam fee for every vaccine appointment for puppies. He apologized for the staff not explaining this to me but did not provide further remedy for the situation. He said, because they took my dog to the back to get the shot, the vet did more of an exam in the back.Again, all the staff were friendly but their billing practices are sneaky and predatory. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone due to their poor customer service practices.

We recently rescued a kitten from the shelter and they recommended this facility. Very friendly staff and doctors. Very up front with pricing and didn’t try to hide any fees. Clean facility. We live in Belleville but I plan on switching all of our fur babies here for their future care.

The staff at Horseshoe Lake Vet were amazing! They were able to accommodate my large breed canine that we had adopted from the humane society. I will forever be taking my Danny here and they will be my first recommendation. I couldn't have been happier!!

I picked up my dog from a 5 day boarding and he had feces dried and matted into his fur. They attempted to wipe it off with a wet wipe after I pointed it out to them, but it had been there for a while and was matted in. He receives a sanitary trim at his groomers every 4-5 weeks and we have never had an issue with feces sticking in his fur before. When I arrived home and checked his bag, his blanket that we sent, was also covered in feces, they hadn't given him any of his daily treats that were packed either. When I called and talked to them, they offered for me to bring him back and they would bathe him for free, but I was already home and honestly didn't trust them. He seems ok otherwise, but we will never take him back.
