BUYER BEWARE! I don’t write many reviews but, been going to Platt Hill for years the their garden plant quality has gone down hill and CS has gotten strange like if you ask a question the response is edgy as if you are stupid or bothersome. I am not too concerned about that just don’t buy garden plants. We have however gotten nice fresh Christmas trees there UNTIL this year. We bought a tree last Saturday 11/25/23 after thanksgiving, bought prolong, put it in a bucket of water in our garage (temp kept at 50 degrees) brought in 4 days ago let it sit in the stand to adjust to the house temp. Kept plenty of water in it today 6 days after purchase went to decorate and I can’t even explain the amount of needles that were on the floor ( I noticed it didn’t drink much water after a couple of days which is strange). Paid $164 plus tax for what we were told was a Frazier fur (questionable it doesn’t have that silvery under tone) and the damn thing is all but dead. We are not new to fresh trees if I could take it back I would straight up garbage and lies. Buyer Beware!Update: was in contact with owner straightened things out. Review change from 1 star to 4 stars.

First time here and is was an amazing experience. There is so much to see, so many plants to take in and the staff is very knowledgeable. I was looking for indoor plants and the woman helping me directed me to exactly the right spot and kind of plant I wanted. I'll definitely be back!

Love Platt Hill.. sometimes the prices are a little high. But they usually have a great selection in the warmer seasons. Their house plants are hit or miss. Stop in and say hi to the cats that live onsite.Their store during the holidays is decorated and cool to visit!

I would love to come back here! So nice people clean and organized! Specially Overnight parking!I slept like a baby after long driving from Oregon to here! Just wish to get a load for this Nursery,Cross the road is Exon gas station overnight if need to go restroom, !

Platt always has such a beautiful assortment and selection of Shrub's, Tree's, Flower's, and just about everything you can imagine for being outside and gardening tools too!! Very nice and unique items!! Great to see!!

My family and I don't come very often but we do every once in a while. Last night when my family and I went, it was our first time to get a Christmas tree from here. The selection was huge and organized, which made things easier to deal with and know what we wanted and the price range in which we wanted to spend. The gentleman whom helped us with our tree was great. He was very pleasant and did a fantastic job with getting the tree ready for us, and loading it up. The other associates were just as nice and were willing to help however they could.The store looked beautiful and there was a lot of decorations to look at that we wanted to buy. They did a great job setting the place up for Christmas.Plus, they had free hot cocoa.

From “A”zalea bushes to “Z”innia flowers…This place has everything covered from A through Z regarding indoor and outdoor plants and gardens! They also have all the bells and whistles to go with it too as far as helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. Although sometimes it can be a a little difficult to find them, they are always happy to help. They also carry a lot of the products (and sometimes specialty items that the other stores might not have), needed to care for and make your outdoor area beautiful!

Great selection of gardening bulbs at the very end of the planting season.This store was very clean and I love all the selections the had. Prices were very competitive. I was afraid of coming here because a lot of people reviewed saying this store was to expensive. Hear me out, I'm cheap! However, taking in to account this is a local gardening store competing and surviving among big box stores, I consider their prices are really decent!I was expecting to see some deals or sales in the gardening bulbs (since planting season is over and everyone was doing it) but that wasn't the case.Now, I was overwhelmed with the HUGE tulips, Alliums and daffodils selections they have. I was expecting the same regular items but this wasn't the case. I spent more time that I originally planned for to get the bulbs as there were choices no even big wholesale garden centers have! Marvellous!I follow them on Instagram for a while now, and I wish they would show more footage of the store, show prices and stuff since their website doesn't show what's in stock and how much it cost, you know to motive more young Gardeners like me 🤗I would happily come back! 🌷

First time visiting Platt Hill. They have a large selection of plants, pots and other garden pretties. My only negative, would be the amount of spidermites on the palms and other surrounding larger plants. It would be good to look over your plants prior to bringing them home to insure you are not bringing any unwanted friends home.

Great place to shop for plants and trees. Our 1st visit we concentrated on perennials, and were not disappointed by the selection, sale, and service provided. Friendly staff, and great/competitive prices. We had such a good experience, we went back the following day to shop for trees. We found 3 that we wanted and the super friendly staff helped us write it up, schedule delivery and set up property markings for when they deliver and plant the trees. To top it off, we were told each had a 2 year warranty. We have never had a long warranty on a tree before. We will be back again. Also, inside has great seasonal items and anything you could possibly need to help your yard and plants look great. They have a rewards program that is a must if you plan to return to purchase items. Can’t say enough positive about this place, their great selection and friendly staff!

This place is great.. They have a huge amount of plants and they are high quality with that been said the price is higher than home depot or Menards. But some of the prices are worth it specially on plants and flowersAlso they have cats that's a extra point

Platt Hill Nursery is my absolute favorite place. I have purchased every plant in my yard from Platt Hill and the quality is amazing! Everyone is always extremely helpful and give great advice. They have the best selection of shrubs and trees in the area. This is my happy place and I love walking around and checking out all the beautiful plants for inspiration.

I shop at Platt Hill in Carpentersville all the time. Over the years, I have spent thousands of dollars there, but I will never shop there again! When you buy trees, shrubs, and some other perennials, they tell you that they guarantee their plants for a year. Last year, I bought a hydrangea tree. This spring, it did not come back. When I returned it, they told me they only give 50% credit. I replied that no one mentioned anything about half, just that it was guaranteed for a year, but ok, I replaced the tree. I planted the new tree, and it did great up until the last two weeks. It died. I just went back to Platt Hill and I was told that because I took the 50% credit, I could not take another credit this year. I argued that it's a different new tree, so it should be guaranteed too. Then the guy asked for my receipt. I thought he was going to give me a partial credit, but no, he wrote on it, "no credit" and rudely told me, "This is standard" and moved on to the couple behind me. I left and called the assistant store manager. She was SO RUDE, even before I even started telling her the issue, like I was interrupting her day or something. I explained everything to her, and her response was, "Yeah, that's right, and.. ". I told her they just lost a very good, loyal customer and I will take my business to Countryside because they guarantee all of their plants 100%, to which she snarkingly replied, "That's OK".The thing is, I would not have been so upset about the plants or the return if the staff weren't so rude. But, after today, I will go to Countryside in Crystal Lake. They have a bigger selection, more knowledgeable people, and guarantee their plants for 100% of what you paid for them. It's worth the extra 10 minute drive.

Update: Very happy that Platt Hill FINALLY changed the rewards program. Happy because as upset as I was with them I just love this place. It's a little pricier but you get what you pay for. You get quality plants and shrubs.As much as I love this place, I have to say how disappointing it is with their Rewards Program. My husband spent a couple hundred dollars on a Christmas gift for me and in the mail we get for $10 reward for being a valued frequent shopper. It was dated December 17th and it gave me 60 days to use it. REALLY?  They value my business so much that they give me 60 days in the middle of winter to use the reward.  What can you possibly buy in Feb. & March from a nursery that you want? It's not a reward at all.  Come on Platt Hill show your customers that you really value their business and don't put a expiration date on it at all. If someone actually holds on to that big coupon for 6 months what's the big deal?  I think it's ridiculous and a slap on the hand. You're benefiting from me being in your Rewards program because you can track what your customers are buying.

Went to back of property to look at mulch & rocks. Had 2 roses & a bar of soap in the cart. Wanted to pay for everything at once. NOTHING POSTED THAT WE WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE BACK THERE UNLESS WE PAID 1RST!! Owner called the cops, pressed charges & told us we cannot come there again. Meanwhile my husband who can't walk without a walker & was in a cart with the merchandise was charged with theft. All the while our car was parked in the handicap spot up front in the parking lot!!! My husband & I are 69 years old!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PLACE!!! We had $80 worth of merchandise that we were going to buy. We didn't buy a darn thing after this!!!

Horrible customer service. The manager was completely rude. My husband and I buy stuff all the time there. My mother came into town and bought me 2 plant hooks for my Birthday over memorial day weekend and lost her receipt. I tried to return for an instore credit and They would not let us return them and the manager was very rude about my mom losing the receipt. I wont be giving them my business any longer just based on how I was treated. Lost a great long time customer!

Been a customer of this nursery for over 20 years plants, flowers, trees, you name it! Last year had two trees planted( same time) one delivery charge! Year before got a tree a tree planted. Our neighborhood got tore up in July from a freak tornado and finally getting to the point we can replace lost trees. We come to find out that the " covid" excuse had reared its ugly head and they now charge $ 50 delivery charge for every tree! Even if it's same day same location! This is ROBERY! and mind you, covid has been over for a long time and that didn't affect our last two years of trees purchased/ planted! So in other words 6 trees purchased going to same location is $300 ? We will be going someplace else! Sadly
