After spending another hour cleaning pee at 12:30am, I can no longer recommend Pend Oreille vet after the last care I received for one of my Bassets.I brought Sheldon in for a checkup back in October 2023 and mentioned an ongoing incontinence issue he's had for a couple of years after getting neutered at a previous vet. This caused dribbling, wetting the area he was lying in for extended periods, or his bed. Initially he was given cephalexin after determining an infection was present. He showed improvement, even had a couple of dry nights, which brought me great joy. When follow up tests still showed infection, instead of sticking to what showed improvement, he was given the much much more expensive Clavamox, and this has been a disaster.Following the course, he lost strength in his back legs, and the volume of urine has DRAMATICALLY increased, and on occasion shows a rusty color which I assume is blood. His bed is saturated overnight. He unloads a full bladder of urine in the home 1-3 times daily. He has destroyed my apartment.Through the course of month I could afford the care, I was charged over $1,500 and wiped out my savings so I could not return for follow up care to this vet or another. Short of an emergency situation in which I would have to give up my rent, I may not have the money until the upcoming fall, and this is March to readdress.I will never give up my dog. He is 12 and I've had him and his brother since I could hold them both in one hand. With that being said, quality of life has been destroyed for me and them. It hurts when I sometimes get upset after having to spend another hour cleaning up the spot he saturated.I feel like doctors for both people and animals need to wear patches of the pharmaceutical companies that pad their pockets, akin to a NASCAR driver and their sponsors. I will be looking for another vet when I can afford to bring him back. I only hope he’s healthy enough when that day comes.Also, please don't patronize me with an offer to call in and discuss as I see you do for other bad reviews. I don't have more money to give you right now.

Could not be happier with our visit to Pend Oreille Vet Service! They were able to get us in same day, were welcoming, attentive and very knowledgeable. Staff was amazing, efficient and fun to be around. The vet we saw could not have been better and our pup loved the entire experience - which has not been the case with other vets we've taken her to. From start to finish - Five stars! Thank you again to everyone at POVS.

The entire staff was concerned about my dog and his care. I met with the surgeon and her assistant after his surgery.They made sure all my questions were answered and followed up the next morning with a phone call checking on his status. I also appreciated that not being part of a national franchise the cost was half the price of other clinics. Thank you.

This office is amazing! No wait time and in the past they got us in on an emergency visit right away. The vet tech was kind and paid attention to details. The vet was also kind and spent some time with us. I did not feel rushed. They took excellent care of my boy Otis.

Lestat - died 5/25. I am working through the grief, but thankful for Chrissy Ponsness, DVM for her time to answer my questions. Unfortunately my cat ate string. He was given many tests initially to determine what was wrong but it was not found for a week after his initial screening (a different vet at the emergency hours who was the initial person to provide care was told he eats string & Lestat obviously did not improve on the Medicine prescription for UTI). He might not have survived had it been diagnosed correctly however, the amount of time it took to find the problem/and the amount of time he suffered, is hard for me. I do not want to give a negative review however I would be cautious.

Our 5 yo Aussie/Heeler had her first seizure today. Dr. Rouge was so kind to come out and talk with us. She made us feel very secure in looking for a diagnosis and handling the situation. I’m thankful for her and Mary helping us with this. Now we begin the diagnostic process. They have been there for us for routine care and now an urgent issue. Great vet practice. 💜

Awesome staff and very clean building. They are very very fast and efficient with calling and scheduling appts! We had an emergency with our dog ridley and they instantly got her admitted and taken care of. Got great service and our dog is doing amazing after surgery! Definitely recommend coming here for your pets needs❤️

We've lived in a lot of different places and Pend Oreille Vet is our favorite vet service by far. They are so patient with our "high anxiety" lab and they make us feel at ease when we bring her. We drive 70 miles one way to go to this office because of the care our fur babies receive. Highly recommended!

Outstanding veterinary clinic. They actually call you if you're on a Waitlist for vaccinations and can get you in within days as they are so efficient. The technicians and staff are so friendly and expert. It is super clean and they have great technology to get you in and out of the patient rooms. They finally solved our pup's allergy issues, discomfort and reverse sneezing with a 6-week allergy shot and Benadryl as needed. Thank you.

I've only had good and loving experiences here. My dog has had her eyes removed, nails clipped, and teeth removed all in this veterinary hospital. Only good things have happened (: most of the staff seem to be very loving towards the animals.

Called them today to get help for my dog that was having issues breathing. I told her that I was out of her meds and her lungs were filling with fluid. She told me they only had one doctor for the day and to take her to post falls. I tried to make it to post falls but instead had my dog die in my arms drowning in her own fluids. I don't recommend if your in need of an emergency they turn you away.

Truly thankful for this veterinary office and their staff. They've been great with my other pets, and were amazing getting Gideon back on his paws right before Christmas. Also really helps that they can take urgent care on the weekends. If they hadn't, my little girl wouldn't have been happily holding her Gideon in this picture on Christmas eve.

We informed the front desk that our dog isn’t dog friendly and when under pressure may nip if you touch him without him knowing. They were so kind and amazing and made his visit wonderful with all the treats and the pets of course. The dr answered all of our questions and we have already scheduled another appointment. The pricing is also fair and the hours are great due to our work schedule. They are booked out but I see why. They are well worth the wait.

I’m from out of town and needed a health certificate for travel. The staff was very helpful and the facility was very nice. Additionally, I did two dog training sessions while I was in town and Monica was very helpful with providing me tools to help my dog’s behavior. I will come back if I’m ever in town again.

Ok, this may be a little of an odd post, but to those who may be seeking regular pet care, or assistance after a loved pet has died? This is my story which may help?I've never been a customer, but had to help someone who's dog passed away while they were out of town and arrange cremation and pick up the ashes etc.These folks went out of their way from the first phone call, all the way through, to provide kind and professional care. While showing much consideration to me and co transporter of the dog from beginning to handing over.Based on this interaction and all the subsequent ones, including picking up the ashes (in lovely black box) and paw print, I most definitely not hesitate in going there for regular care.

Having recently visited another veterinary clinic out of area - which felt drastically different, I wanted to post about my experiences at Pend Oreille Veterinary Service. First impression when you drive up is of a modern building with ample parking. You walk in the lobby, double doors for additional safety of potential escaping pets, and the clinic smells pleasant and feels inviting. It doesn't have a strong medicine smell or feel depressing and dingy. Instead it feels open, bright, and clean - but not the scary medicine smell we learn to associate with serious things happening to our pets. The staff are friendly and welcoming when you check in. You are brought back to a clean, warmly lit exam room where the technician takes general information about your pet and the vet comes in to the room for your exam rather than taking your pet away from you. Often times when you go to the vet both you and your pet are a little scared - being able to keep them with you for the exam and have the vet talk to you while they are looking at your pet is very comforting. The veterinarians and techs are really good with my dogs and seem genuinely compassionate and caring about animals in general. They understand that my dogs are my family members and that leaving my dog with anyone is placing a lot of trust in them. This clinic feels like money has been invested in the most modern technology and tools, which gives me confidence that they also invest in the education of their staff. When I come to this clinic I feel like my dogs and in the very best hands possible and that gives me a sense of hope and confidence. I would say the price of services is competitive - not that I wouldn't pay more for better service, but that hasn't been my experience... the price is the same as it was at the other vets I have been to. I couldn't recommend a doctor more highly, and specifically Dr Ponsness, who has been taking care of my pets for years. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my babies.

My fur babies are so well cared for at POVS that just knowing that there are such excellent Dr's and staff is awesome. I almost hesitate to give a review because they are so crazy busy all the time! I have to be honest though, they are truly the best. They have records that the entire group can reference so each can be up to speed. My heart will always be for Dr. Smart but every one is excellent when she has a day off!
