Excellent shave ice with good flavor combinations that are already mostly pre-set with toppings. The combinations are great and I like the character of the place, playing off of the shave ice / barber shave motif.The taste was fine for the professor and what I liked most is obviously higher quality elements they use to make the shave ice. After sampling shave ice around the whole island for more than a week with my family, I can say that The Fresh Shave has the most natural ingredients.If you like shave ice, make The Fresh Shave a "must" stop on your list.Parking: No dedicated parking and parking is limited for the old koloa shops in. This area. If you can't find a street space look at the market lot near by and the small lot that has 5 or 6 spaces west of the old koloa shops between them and the gas station.

Very good but way to light on the flavor and just seems to be missing something tried multiple flavors and they just seem to need just a little bit more. They also have very large chunks and so all the syrup lands to the bottom, a finer ice would hold the syrup but they don't seem to do that.

Really good shave ice. The strawberry syrup is more like a nectar, giving a bold flavor. Other fruits are prepared as needed, again allowing for maximum flavor. Portions are very generous and easily shared by two people. Good enough that we went twice while on the island. This is not a snow cone!!! It’s shave ice!Tables could’ve used a wipe down, but they’re outside communal tables shared with a couple other nearby shops, so hard to say whose responsibility that is. And wasn’t bad enough to deter our return for a repeat visit.

A friend and I came here after a nice long day of hiking different places. After hearing a lot of hullabaloo about a different shave ice place, I couldn’t help but be drawn instead to the Fresh Shave in Koloa. The owner happened to be there the first time we went, and I absolutely fell in love with the witty concept and descriptions of all of the flavors.Honestly, I was sold even before I tasted the natural flavors in this shave ice, which is what hands-down sets it apart from the others! Seriously! When you’re on vacation, you’re already overdoing it on your food choices, right? So if you’re going to get something sweet, isn’t it fantastic that you can not only choose something that tastes remarkable, but is also a healthier option than the sugar-filled shaved ice places!So, look at the pictures below, and check out the well-coiffed menu options! We returned multiple times… if you are a fan of fruit flavors, my favorite was the Whiskers, a perfect balance of Mojito without the alcohol. Absolutely refreshing and my favorite shaved ice on the island!Now I’m just trying to figure out how to buy into that franchise and bring it to the Midwest on the mainland !

What a great place to catch a refreshing treat! I love that they stand out from a typical shaved ice place and offer fresh ingredients for their syrups/sauces/toppings.We had The Professor (berries & açaí) and The Fu Manchu (strawberry and banana plus cream)- both fabulous! They also have a “secret menu” that was shared in a local article they have taped on a door if you want to check out a couple extra options! Come visit this shaved ice shop for a one of a kind experience!

There’s nothing wrong with the friendly service and environment. The flavors were not that great. The whiskers with lime and mint was the only one we really really liked out of 3 flavors. The other two flavors were OK and bland until you got to the very end where all the juices were at the bottom. We’ve been to other places where every flavor was consistently really good with every bite.

I’ve had The Fresh Shave bookmarked for awhile and finally got to try it.Easy 5 star! It exceeded my expectations and I’ll definitely make a point to come here whenever I’m near Koloa town.The Shave ice itself is exactly how it’s supposed to be, like lite fluffy snow. The syrup was very good with clean flavor. Fruit topping was fresh cut just before placing it on. I’m so impressed with how clean the shop is and how carefully each order is made.

Good consistency of shaved ice texture. Limited menu compared other places I’ve been. Menu caters more to adults than kids. Overall, a good place to enjoy some delicious shaved ice.

Taste was good, except for the center which didn’t have any. The shave ice is too big or the cup is too small, either way you end up with sticky hands.The biggest complaint is the “Hawaii is not America” letter board in the shop. Dude, you’re from Oregon and apparently you’re not above taking money from all the “American” tourists. If you’re so against America don’t cater to us, and go live true to your feelings in another industry.

I love this place! I live down the street and it's a challenge not to stop by for a weekly treat.I've been a regular for 3 years now my favorite is the Chevron, a coconut lime concoction with chia seed cream on top.Tips: if you find a long line, take a walk through Koloa town and circle back.Go with the posted menu, this isn't a pick and choose situation like ordinary shave ice places...the flavor profiles are made with fresh local ingredients and the combinations are magic.Lastly, a little Aloha goes a long way...you are not buying a new car, It's SHAVE ice ❤️Kid-friendliness: They have a bookshelf out front with children's books to borrow and return while you enjoy a shave ice.

Hands down the best shave ice we had on Hawaii! We’ve tried multiple different shave ice places while we were on Oahu and Kauai and we felt like they were too sweet (too much artificial tasting syrups, heaps of condensed milk, tons of ice cream filling, etc.). The fresh shave uses home made syrups and purées that taste fresh and is not too sweet. It was so good, we went back again the next day to try more flavors. Our favorite was the Fu Man Chu.Highly recommend getting shave ice here!

Definitely a fresh take on shave ice! It falls somewhere between more basic places and newer ones like Waikomo and Wailua that also serve theirs with fresh fruit. The flavor combos are set but really good. No ice cream bottom or haupia top available which at first was a real bummer. However, I finished feeling satisfied and not overly sugary/full the way I normally do. I liked the Fu Man Chu a little better than The Professor. Syrups and purées are flavorful and…fresh…lol. Tons of fruit on top, and the honey was unique/good. Ice is one of the softest I’ve ever had and was saturated just enough with flavor but not overly so. I liked the straw to get the last melty bits.

Such a great place for shaved ice! The ice is super smooth and more like the consistency of a soft serve. While sitting outside the shop the owner checked in with us to see how our ice was- she was super sweet! Overall some of the best shaved ice we’ve had in Hawaii. It may be a long line when you go, but we think it’s worth the wait.

We went here hoping it'd be good but it wasnt anything special, almost like shaved ice in Utah...dill. we all enjoyed Uncle's Shaved Ice much more.The servers were extremely rude to my daughter, singling her out and flat out telling her no on a cream cap but gave it to everyone else in our group that asked. My daughter was very hurt by it.If we ever go to Koloa again, we won't go back to this place.

My husband and I tried shave ice for the first time here, and we absolutely loved it! WAY better than any icee! I had a lime/mint flavor and my husband had a fruit/cream flavor. Both were so delicious 😋

The Fresh Shave is the reason I wanted to come to Kauai, and it was totally worth it! We came every day of our trip and every flavor was so delicious and refreshing. No other snow cone or shave ice compares, so I guess I have to start planning my next trip or convince someone in Austin to open a franchise!

An awesome place to visit for Hawaiian shave ice! The Fu Manchu (strawberry, banana, cream) was great, and The Professor (açaí, berries) was good too. The ladies working there were very friendly, and there is a nice spot outside to eat in the shade.

Fun play on words, and even better shave ice combinations. Great fruit toppings, and flavour, flavour, flavour! From the first spoonful, to the last sips - the fluffy cut of the ice combined with the syrup makes you want to keep coming back. The totally picture perfect cup with the props is an added bonus. All in all a great cup of Kauai’s famous shaved ice.

Hands down the freshest shave ice on the island. A little pricier than the average shave ice found elsewhere but most defiantly worth it. Fresh fruit abounds on their cool creations. The ice is also the lightest fluffiest ice you will find.This is shave ice at the next level. Employees are helpful and friendly and make the experience great. They have a half dozen tables or so in a shaded area next to the truck for your eating convenience. This place is not to be missed. One of the few places on our “stop again” list.
