A feral kitten that adopted me started to rapidly decline and CMAC was able to get us in so quickly despite all the work they’re doing for the animals displaced by Lahaina’s fire.I brought in a feverish, lethargic, withering kitten and left less than half an hour later with a playful, cuddly, happy kitten who had her appetite and energy back. Although I could never put a price on what a happy healthy animal is worth, I was still absolutely floored to learn what my total would be. The entire visit, exams, and treatment all cost less than I expected to pay for the visit fee alone. Furthermore, in selecting the “kitten package,” everything we needed was covered, and when we return to get her vaccines and routine care in a few weeks, all costs will already have been covered by the kitten package that saved her life today.

LOVE CMAC! They’ve taken great care of my fur baby in the past when my regular vet’s office was closed. My most recent experience with them was last week when they boarded my dog for 5 days and I will keep coming back for boarding. I looked forward to getting daily photos of him. I never have to worry about him getting hurt (he’s a dachshund) or escaping (it happened at a dog sitter).

All they care about is how you're going to make the payment. They hand over the pet as if it were a bag of trash, no explanation of what they did or how the animal was. I took my cat, and all they did was take money from me by putting bandages on. All the 'doctors' tell you different things. They are a disaster!I do not recommend it at all! Scammers! They have no love for animals, only for the beach. They play with people's time while laughing behind closed doors. When I took my cat, the first thing they did was give me a very basic diagnosis without much exploration. They said they had to clean her paws and bandage them, and I had to visit the vet again within 3 days. Today, when I went as scheduled, two emergency dogs arrived with us, and they told me it might take 3 hours to change my cat's bandages due to that. When they called us to pick him up, they made us wait another 30 minutes and handed me the cat DRUGGED without my consent.

Maybe we should get used to bad customer service and out of date veterinary practices just because we are on Maui??The front desk is rude when you walk in, and if you call they put you on hold without ever answering, not even an option to leave a message. The actual vet spends about 2 minutes with you if your lucky. Most your interaction with be with a tech that cannot answer a basic question and runs out to ask the vet to get an answer. Then to make it worse, it is outdated services that the vets on the mainland shake thier heads at. We are not a third world country, and pay a very high cost for all their services. I would hope they would have up to date practices in place.

I took my dog to this facility on a Saturday morning and agreed to pay emergency visit extra exam cost. My dog had a problem with vomiting. The person that examined him- Anna, said he needed surgery asap. I agreed to have the surgery done. She called me later that afternoon and said the surgery was successful and that now the dog just needs to recover overnight. 8:00 AM the following morning, I received a call from a different “Doctor” (Naomi) and she told me the dog appeared to be fine and that she needed to sedate the dog in order to take his blood for testing. I resisted the thought that he would be sedated AGAIN after all the sedation, drugs, and pain meds he had just a few hours ago. After 2 calls and her continuing to insist. I simply told her- please do the best thing for my dog. A few minutes later, she called me back and said my dog’s heart stopped and he was dead. That dog was my whole world. Before the surgery, they charged my credit card approx. $4500.00, the following day they charged an additional approx. $2500.00 on my card. The last entry on the bill was $300.00 for cremation credited to the “doctor” that sedated my dog. Their office, directed by Michelle, instructed all the employees not to answer any of my questions regarding the line items on the bill or what transpired with my dog before his death. Incidentally, this “Manager- Michelle, was extremely rude to me on top of everything else.

We had just a simple reason to visit the clinic, a health certificate to fly. However, from the first contact, the staff was welcoming, friendly and professional. We left with our needed certificate with really positive feelings sbout the staff. Top noche. We will certainly cond back.

called this place on christmas day around 1030am when the cat was dying and struggling to breathe and didn’t know what to do . the lady said their would a 350 doller fee before anything which i agreed . she took more time asking what color my cat was and sounded annoyed then trying to get me into the office from lahaina . then hanged up on me when asking what going on with the cat . the cat died with that same time frame . hope this place goes out of business and they fire that lady for not caring about an animal that is was in the lahaina fire .

Took our dog in this morning after he got stung by a Portuguese Man-o-war on his mouth this morning. He licked and possibly ingested one while at the beach. Called while in route and was omitted upon arrival. They checked him out and determined he didn’t eat it based on his vitals and sting marks. We were discharged within 1.5 hrs. They gave him meds and is he doing much better. Gotta admit, given that it was an emergency visit I thought the tab was going to be a lot more out of pocket. Thankful Maui has a service like this. Our standard vet refers emergencies here and I now understand why. Thank you to the staff who took great care of my boy. Happy he’s ok

I cannot recommend this clinic enough! From the moment we brought our puppy in for her spay surgery and eye checkup, we knew we were in good hands. But what really stood out to us was the exceptional level of care we received even after we left the clinic. When I had a health concern about my dog, the staff went above and beyond to provide me with valuable advice and support. Their kindness and compassion truly made all the difference during a stressful time. We are so grateful to have found a veterinary practice that not only provides professional, high-quality care, but also genuinely cares about our furry family member.

Would not recommend. Use to go to west Maui animal clinic. Central Maui was a terrible experience. We took our sick dog in after we waited 4 days for an appointment. They did labs kept her over night with fluids and meds. Picked her up less than 24 hours and she looked to be on death’s doorstep. Brought her home and in less than 8 hours she had perked up was walking drinking fluids. Was told to bring her back in at 4 that day. Her labs had improved and she looked much better but still told us basically it was worthless and should put her down. Charged me incorrectly and didn’t even call in the medication as they said they would. The nurse was not caring or empathic. Also after spending over 1,500 no telephone call the next day to even check on. This is coming from a healthcare worker, show some compassion and empathy! The lady from Lahaina was very nice and front desk staff was nice, but that’s about all I can say positive.

Due to the fire in Lahaina we have started taking our dogs to this location and have been very happy with the team at the central location. Appointments are readily available and the team is great.

I have a 17 year old wiener dog, he went into Anaphylactic Shock and I had no idea that was possible. When I brought him to this Vet, they calmed me down through the process and didn’t skip a beat to get him stable. I got updates and each time they were amazing. They did keep him overnight and had no issue with me bringing him his stuffed animal and a shirt of mine to help him relax. This little pup has been with me since he was 6 weeks, it was a very scary experience, but this Vet and the employees there are outstanding and I felt 100% comfortable with him there.

I had not had a problem before. Great vet and before this encounter… the staff was always very polite. I came in to ask if their might be a pill form to the medication prescribed for my cat.The very rude and inadequate receptionist (dark long hair, tall, Asian lady?).She interrupted her co-worker to be very rude to me (shorter colored hair lady) I stated what I was looking for. The associate seemed very annoyed and asked me the same question three times. With the same answer. I did not know the name but it was for his kidneys.I still don’t have a follow up call or email. I am disappointed because we have limited options. There is no need to be that way when people are coming in asking a simple question.

Finally found a vet that correctly diagnosed my dog, Sophie. Dr Gehring was very thorough and compassionate during Sophie's exam. She recommended blood work and x-rays. We found out Sophie has congestive heart failure with fluid build up. Sophie was hospitalized a few days in oxygen and then returned home with several pill medications. She's so much more active and is back to her normal self again. I cannot thank Central Maui staff enough. Mahalo Dr Gehring, I can't thank you enough.

Unequivocally recommend Dr. Curtis Willauer at Central Maui Animal Clinic. He is a skilled DVM and provides my very dear 12 year old Maltese with acupuncture treatments to keep her pain managed from nerve damage in her neck. We have been patients of Dr. Willauer for nearly 2 years now. She is doing very well. We love Dr. Willauer for his skill and compassion.

horrible experience i’ll never forget. so unfortunate that they are the only 24 hrs hospital I know. money oriented. 2 my cats died after given pain killer drugs from there. rude staff in er at night. first case to my girl they said oh because kidney disease is pain. she was awake when saw vet, she was unconscious right after got that drug. months later in er they even administered to my boy without told us before, we waited in the car and he was unconscious after from this hospital only 30 minutes. he was awaked when we brought him in. when we asked why gave that to him the answer only because he’s in pain. both cats have similar symptoms before passed away although they have different illness, cold frozen after returned from the hospital. when we call they only said yes that pain killer just make them relax then why my kids died. in fact other vets in other hospitals not recommended that drugs for patients with kidney disease.

We had to take our dog here for an after hours emergency visit. They are one of the few places on the island open 24 hours and will accommodate for a high fee. You’re basically paying for an “emergency room” visit with no insurance so the visit cost is all out of pocket. The cost was worth it to us for the peace of mind that our dog was not only okay, but was so much better after the visit. We’re grateful for this place.

Horrible staff. Vet didn’t know what she was talking about. Almost everything she said was wrong. Literally, every diagnosis except one was wrong. But wait! The one correct diagnoses (a broken extremity) was never even addressed in this $1300+ visit! Additionally, they have the rudest, most callous vet assistant, young, skinny, fake eyelashes white girl with foreign accent, spits out prices with no explanations and then expects you to sign a bill that costs over $4000 without any logic or discourse. When I repeated and summarized her three options when I told her $4,000+ for a one day visit that did not include any surgery, just supervision overnight, she said my only options were to murder my pet, relinquish it to the clinic, or find someone to sign it over to and pay for it, all within two minutes of ever meeting this young 20 something year old girl who wouldn’t give her name or wear a name tag (she’s probably gotten a long list of complaints already). She never introduced herself or even shared a polite, basic social greeting, just shoved a paper in my face demanding money without explanation, and gave me a sickening, impractical ultimatum. This recent, post teenage girl argued with me when she was confronted, backpeddled with no remorse after she realizes what she said WILL get her in trouble and could get her fired or sued. We literally went back and forth of her saying “I didn’t say that,” to me saying, “yes you did.” To the company, I recommend hiring college graduates! (When I left with my pet the same teen gave me some medication. When I asked when to provide it, she said every three hours, I asked when I should start, she said tonight. I asked, no, what time. She said every three hours. I said, no, when did you provide it last? So I know when I should start administering it? She had the audacity to say, start it when your dog starts SCREAMInG. This lady is sick and ignorant. When I looked at the label later, it stated every EIGHT hours starting at 7. She didn’t even read the instructions herself and was giving me even MORE false information). Back on point, I had to ask for a separate, common sense option, which should be the legal protocol of the business, which is to have patients sign off what was done only out of strict medical necessity in an emergency situation, what the next steps are, and what the next financial options are. I suggested that I pay for what was done (which I did not even consent to, it was done behind my back without a choice), what obviously needed to be done (an X-ray), and the reading fee. From there, I can deem if any other services are required based on the condition of my pet. I was also charged the I know biohazard fee, which was never explained. I was distraught and signed off on what was done, but should have put up a fight, as with a previous pet, the same clinic performed procedures without my consent and I had to argue to get them removed. You cannot charge me for what I DID NOT consent to!Price gougers! Finally, said my dog’s broken extremity needed surgery. If it’s so serious it requires surgery, WHY DID YOU NOT PUT A SPLINT ON MY DOG?!!! I literally paid almost $1500 for a 1.5 hour visit and they let my dog leave with a broken body and no splint for an area that is appropriate, and desperate for one. To add insult to injury, they didn’t even tell me if my dog’s extremity could heal on its own with a point or required surgery. I didn’t find out it need led surgery until three days AFTER the appointment and accident. I CAN’T BELIEVE the GROSS MALPRACTICE, incompetence, and disgustingly unethical practices of this butcher shop!

This vet is awful and the way he runs his business is shameful! He gave my dog 2 knee surgeries... a week later the screw in left leg came out!... when I brought my poor pup back they still charged me almost 400 dollars after I had just paid 4 grand for original surgery... they treated us so cold the reeptionist treat me like criminal when I was late on the payments they forced me to pay for a second surgery thatwas a redul5 of negligencea result

Had to take my dying cat for after hours emergency to Central Animal Clinic. The older blonde lady that works there is probably one of the RUDEST people i've ever met!! She told me to wait while my cat is gasping for air. She would answer emergency door bell or answer emergency calls. She has no sympathy or compassion for nothing or no one! All she wanted was payment. before my cat could be seen . Honestly, why would Central Animal Hospital even employ such an evil person?? Why?? i own my own business and someone like this wouldn't last a minute with me. She'd be gone in a heartbeat! Old blonde lady if your that miserable in life maybe you should just quit your job...grouch!!

A very frustrating experience! They force a $309 emergency visit fee if your pet is sick and needs to be seen without waiting 2-3 days for a scheduled apt. Emergencies are life threatening not sick pets! Why else would you have a pet doctor?! Yo top it off, after paying a ridiculous fee for an exam you can’t even go with them . I’m very disappointed and will find another Doctor. It’s not the first frustrating experience we’ve had.

Really impressed with the quality of care here — for both myself and my pet. Convenient scheduling and location. Nice, clean building. Overheard a lot of sensitivity regarding another pet who may have had cancer. Thank you for serving our island animals.

Our 15 yo Maltese needs a rear molar taken out. I phoned to get an appointment and was told he would need X’rays ( necessary) and a list of unnecessary tests before they would take out his tooth. They then informed me the tooth extraction would cost at least $4,000 and possibly much more. My human dentist says all he would do if it were my molar would take an x’ray for a $100, and the extraction for $400-500. Unreal. Price gouging at its worst. It would be literally cheaper for me to fly to SF with my pup and get it done there.

This place is going down hill FAST. We are long time customers, practically since they opened. They used to have such amazing doctors and caring staff for a lot of years. These past few years, though... not so muchFrom the first call you make to them, they will say "sorry we are booked, but you can come in for an emergency fee". They have the nerve to charge emergency fees during their normal business hours! Read all the reviews. You'll notice the common theme. We gave them one last chance recently when our animal got injured. They gave us a bottle of pills when we picked him up and the paperwork didn't even have a return appointment written down to remove the sutures. We called a few times and left messages with the desk. Each time, we were told the doctor will need to call you back. Never ever received a call back. No follow up whatsoever from this place.Unreal!

If I could give a negative star rating it would be negative 10! Just got back from ER for my English bulldog baby. Older haole woman who was receptionists was very cold bitter, unprofessional, unfriendly unkind, like we were interrupting her. We were there for an emergency! She was more concerned about collecting the $116. It wasn’t about the money! It was how this haole woman was conducting herself in a job where there is trauma. She insisted in having our dog leashed . She couldn’t even walk we had to carry her in but the woman said we’re not supposed to come in? Instead of just taking the dog she makes me go back outside with the dog and she tries to make our very ill dog walk with no success and finally older haole woman who obviously hates her job decides to lift her and take her in. Question? If it’s an emergency room 24 hours! And we show up guess what? It’s an emergency! perhaps you should be equipped with a method to transport with a gurney for sick or injured animal? Geez! After reading the many horror stories of encounters with this very unpleasant older haole woman receptionist listed in complaints and from others who didn’t formally complain? Only to find out she really does exist . Can’t understand why she still works there, unless she’s related to Dr Hillary Nauss The Director. Again it wasn’t about the fee! It was how unprofessional uncaring narcissistic she was ! Please Get with it ! This is a small island ! Replace the bad apple who makes everyone look bad and reflects your place of business. No Aloha! No Business! Ratings going down because of her. She’s not even worth minimum wage!

MONEY HUNGRY COMPANY. The emergency fee is understandable but everything after that I was shocked. They do not care about our animals, staff was rude.Received a call after I brought my puppy in & was told there was nothing wrong. Shortly after, got another call saying they need to further examine him & that it’s going to cost $500 extra just for the exam. YOU KIDDING??? Very wishy washy & untrustworthy company. Too bad this is the only 24 hour clinic. If i could give 0 stars I would.

I have been taking my dogs to Central Maui Animal Clinic for many years now and overall have been very satisfied with their services. This morning at 8:15 am I called in about an issue and was told they are booked today, and if they were to see my pet today it would be an extra "emergency fee". Really? It's not like I'm calling at 2 am in the morning. This policy just comes across as a money grab. I'll have to re-evaluate my choices as to what is best for my pet's well being.

My cat was dx'd with mid-stage renal failure, but rapidly progressed and crashed resulting in needing an emergency visit and overnight stay. Though the options were limited, Dr. Nunan took so much time and patience to carefully review all the options on the table. We ended up trying to prolong her life, and it worked for now. She is still with me today, 6 weeks later. I consider them miracle workers. I was so worried my cat was going to die in the hospital overnight and they were wonderful about staying in touch and letting me call overnight to check in on her. They also went over DNR information and asked if I wanted her to be resuscitated in such an event so I could come to say goodbye. Everyone- the vets, techs, and front desk staff, were nothing but compassionate and patient. They sent her home with clear discharge instructions and teaching instructions for me for administration of fluids. She someday won't survive her renal failure, but knowing that we're doing all we can and giving her quality until then is an invaluable gift. We continue to monitor her with the staff and make decisions based on QOL. It feels like a team effort and I don't feel alone in making these tough end of life decisions. Though there is a price on the vet bills, it's actually hard to say what something like that is worth when your pet is family. Then my dog needed a teeth cleaning (Dr. Gehring did this) and that turned into a much more involved procedure than any of us anticipated. They communicated so well the whole time, Dr. Gehring was excellent, too. They took the time to listen to my concerns about his airway pre-anesthesia, and post extubation, reassured me they'd keep a watchful eye on his breathing post operatively. They called me when they examined him, again after X-Rays, and when he was in PACU level care and then ready for discharge. They gave me clear post discharge instructions and the tech spent about 5 minutes answering questions outside the clinic. Also provided me with print outs of the X-Rays and then emailed me photos of teeth they were able to save that I need to focus on for brushing when his mouth heals.Great care by great staff who clearly love what they do. :)

The staff is always friendly. I can only highly recommend their service and they are open 24 hours if you have an emergency. I specially appreciate the service of Dr. Curtis Willauer. He meets my needs of care for my two Tibetan Spaniels. His wisdom of natural and allopathic medicine and acupuncture has helped my four legged so many times.. Dr. Curtis has helped me to understand their behaviors when they get sick and made me a better care taker of the ones we all love so much. Thank you.
