Obsessed with the tomato soup. The baked goods are just as tasty. My roll was so soft and full of flavor. I waited by the door as they requested for like 1-2 minutes max. The person that came to the door was kind and attentive. I can’t wait to come back next week and try the turkey leg. As far as the way the establishment is run, it might not be what everyone is used to but it works! They are able to tend to the customers they allow in with their undivided attention. It smells divine in there and I had no issue shopping for an additional item to accompany my soup. My hats off to them for sticking with their principles in spite of serving a very… entitled group of folks.

I've heard that Mitch's offers good quality meat. Unfortunately, he has an unusual way of doing business. He prefers that customers order in advance. He also insists that only one customer be in his shop at a time. Mitch certainly has the right to run his business however he chooses. What does this mean for new customers who might like to see the product before buying? Or for customers who want to know what's available and good right now? I'll often walk into my butcher and buy what really looks good.I encourage you to have a look at his website. He has two pages of instructions for how to be an acceptable customer of Mitch's Meat Market. As I said, it's his decision to make. It's also my decision to go elsewhere.

Called the shop looking for sushi grade salmon for a special occasion. I wasn't informed about the strange ordering system. When I arrived I was informed that only one person at a time was allowed in and there were two ahead of me. I was fine with that. However, 45min. later we were still waiting when another woman walked right in. She started to come back out but they let her stay. Didn't acknowledge me at all.

I do not shop here anymore because of their weird ordering system. When I go to a butcher I want to pick out a few things and look around, not call ahead and make deal in the parking lot.The only person that wants this is Mitch. I understand he’s not the best at customer service but at least let people in your shop. Hire another butcher and pay them enough to stay. You guys used to have lunch but that’s been gone for a while.

My husband and I drove by Mitch's today and decided to stop by. It seems unlike most, we actually stopped to read the sign before we went in, which clearly explains the rules and the operations of the business. I can understand how it would be off-putting to some, but if you simply do what the signs say, you will be taken through a wonderful exclusive customer service experience. We were greeted by a woman outside that went over how the process works. Thankfully, we came on a less busy day so we didn't have to wait long. We were advised to go to the wine/beer shop (Pinkies?) next door for a pint while we waited and Mitch's employee came and got us when she was ready for us. We met Mitch and we picked out what we wanted. He provided suggestions on how to cook and he even seasoned our cuts himself. SUPER HIGH GRADE MEATS AND FISH. I had the halibut and crabcakes and my husband had the NY strip. Let me tell you... no added seasoning or anything was needed. It was perfectly seasoned and so unbelievably fresh for not living near a coast! We immediately decided we will be getting our Thanksgiving turkey from here. This is our new go to for sure. Just read the sign, people. Mitch knows his stuff! And Star is a delight.

Wicked excited about this place! Fantastic selection of meats and seafood. Grab-and-go packs of meat/seafood also available. They offer other various grab items such as spices, ketchups, mustards, coffee, and grits. Super friendly and helpful staff. The owner (Mitch) obviously loves his job and his customers. Highly recommend this place!

Custom hand-cut cut steaks, beautiful sushi-grade fish, hard-to-find requests, quick take-home dinner items... I was really amazed by their quality, selection, and service. Mitch himself is an encyclopedia of culinary knowledge, and even with years of cooking experience under my belt he definitely took me to school!Shopping there has taken me back to my childhood of the local butcher shop. I thought places like this were lost, and maybe you have too. Consider checking them out... I think you'll thank me!

They do not follow their own rules, starting with their hours. I got there 20 minutes before closing time, which is published everywhere as 6PM on Wednesdays. They locked the door and turned off the open sign as soon as they saw me park in front of the store. They have a very heavy set of rules to shop here, but they don't hold their end of the deal.

Very bizarre customer experience here. I walked in to buy some fish and was basically pushed back out the door by a very aggressive woman who was apparently upset with me because I didn't read and follow the four pages of oppressive rules that are posted on the door. One person at a time in the store, I guess. You can put your name on a list and order and I tried that, but the wait was going to be around 30 minutes total and I really like to see what I'm buying before I buy it. Based on my past experience here, the meat was decent but nothing special - why would anyone go through all of this just to buy a couple of pieces of fish or steak?? Super weird...

7/2023 UPDATE -There has been improvements in service, and Star (customer service) is more friendly. It’s not what they say, it’s how they say it, and it’s has improved significantly. Keep up the good work!OLD -I have gone to Mitch's Meats & Fish for about 2.5 years and love his products. I don’t know if it’s a cultural thing with the staff, but they definitely lack the personal service, especially the lady that often answers the phone and the person that greets the front door. The gentleman (I should use other nouns) that wears the Hawaiian shirt is absolutely HORRIBLE.I understand Mitch’s meat is high quality and he, himself is a great person to talk with, but boy his staff certainly lose business, especially loyal customers. We’ve always understood the process of ordering for Holidays, and the new form with COVID, but not taking names down for those that show up before opening to place an order (open to public with a wait time of 1.5 hrs is bizarre). The gentleman in the Hawaiian shirt is also very rude and a tad bit condescending. It’s ironic that on the website, they stress code of conduct but fail to hold themselves to that level. This morning Mitch lost 3 other customers. I am a loyal customer for 2.5 years with biweekly business; however my purchases from Mitch will be much lighter going forward because of this process, lack of professionalism and not upholding/honoring their own code of conduct.I’m so disappointed and I know you can do better, Mitch.

We went to Mitch’s for the first time today; we pre-order some bison so we didn’t have to wait in line for long; once we got in, Mitch took the time to show us everything he offered, so we selected a couple of cuts. He also explained how to cook the meat we purchased. We are incredibly pleased with the result and the overall experience. I understand people tend to be pessimistic about the wait and have one customer in the store at a time. Still, once you get inside, you will appreciate the variety and quality of his products. We will come back.

The "appointment-only" thing really seems to put some people off. I get it, as it's not the norm... but it's really not rocket science. Just order what you want ahead of time and show up to pick it up. While you're there, Mitch will spend 15 minutes with you to answer questions, give you cooking tips or help you select additional items you'd like to purchase. Mitch was extremely helpful and warm during my visit there and I respect the fact that he runs his business the way he wants to. It seems to be working for him.

The last time I was here was at the start of Covid. Prior to that, I thought that the best item was the crab cakes. Truly outstanding! Otherwise the meat was nothing you couldn't get at Fresh market for less money. So during covid, there was a change to the limiting of customers in the store which for a small space with older people made sense. I waited about 30-45 mins. But inside there were no masks on the workers, so why the wait? After I was allowed in for a moment, the guy that was the "door monitor" escorted me back out saying that he made a mistake and they were not ready for me. Ok, went out and waited for 15 mins more. When I came back in the wife stood in front of the freezer and demanded to know what I wanted. I wanted to look at what was available in the ready made food! I felt like I was treated like a thief casing the freezer for gold ice cubes! I had been in the store several times before the start of the pandemic and was shocked at how I was treated on this time. I told my husband that I would never return. He loved the crab cakes so much that he went back with my daughter and they waited an hour before he finally left. We have not been back since then. I am disappointed to see that from the comments the business model has not changed in years and rather than them taking introspection, there is constant fighting with critics some. Maybe they have enough customers to ignore their old and potential clients? But to quote Walt Disney, "It is easier to keep a good customers than to find new ones."

Short story, don't bother. They have a ton of signs out front as you can see in my photo. They're very clear about one customer at a time, which is different... but no worries there. I waited outside for a little while, keep in mind you can't see inside... Opened the door just to check things out and immediately got screamed at by a man "One person at a time! Read the sign!" And I'm not saying that he yelled it in a loud way, no, he screamed. In sheer anger. Didn't know if I should laugh or what, but I left, I'm in my car, and here's my review. I won't be back. Edit: it was 100F outside

Wow… very rude.My first time walking into the store I was literally escorted out by the lady with her hand on my shoulder guiding me back outside because I missed an elaborate sign on the door. You’d think it would have been… “hey, first time here? yeah let me explain how we operate” all in a friendly manner.Too bad. We just moved to the area and had high hopes.

One of the best customer service experiences I have had in awhile. I had never been to Mitch’s (big mis-steak ;)) and called ahead to see if I could come pick up a couple of hand cut ribeyes for later that evening. I spoke to Star who immediately knew I was a first time customer and she took the time to explain the set-up as well as the many options I had to customize our steaks. I was placed on Will Call for my order, which made complete sense. It wasn’t long before I received a call that they were ready. When I arrived I was greeted by Star who gave me a shop tour. I was blown away by the availability and equally impressed by the cleanliness. It really is a pristine shop. The quality of the steaks was far superior to any local market. They were beautiful. Thank you for the experience. I will be back.

Like other customers, I was extremely put off by my experience at Mitch’s Meats. I walked into the store and was basically physically shoved back out the door by a woman who explained their bizarre one customer in the store rule. Like past experiences here, you get the impression that Mitch puts his ego far above any considerations for his customers. In the past, his food was just meh for me - extremely heavy and absolutely not worthy of his “soup nazi” treatment of his customers. After a long wait outside in the sun, I took my name off the list and left. “No meat for you!” I imagined him saying as I drove away.Update - I just checked my one star review and it is showing on Google as a five star review! What is going on here? If you actually read the five star reviews you can see that it’s mostly people complaining about how terrible place is.

Just finished our biscuits and gravy from Mitch's after returning home from our first visit. Well worth the extra amount of thought put in to preparing for the visit. Mitch and his staff are very hospitable, knowledgeable and generous with their time. To be honest I left with the feeling of what it must have been like for my great grandmother when she went to the butcher. I know the rules of engagement can be intimidating but if you can push that aside and you will not be disappointed. The level of personal care and attention are what is lacking in most retail experiences. I'm hooked! Thank you Mitch's Meat & Fish team. Did I mention the best biscuits I have ever had? And I've had many a biscuit. I wish I could give you 10 stars!

Highly recommend Mitch’s. Everything we have bought has been the best tasting around. Cannot beat any of the fish, all sushi grade. Mitch’s burgers are perfectly seasoned and ready to grill. Staff is all friendly and knowledgeable. Call in and order or be patient as Mitch custom cuts all the meat and fish selections. If able, try mid afternoon as I have rarely waited. Please read all the reviews. I have been going for years and have never been treated rudely.

My photos will not do this place justice so just do yourself a favor and go. I drove all the way from Decatur and I’m looming forward to doing it again and again. First off, everyone in the shop was incredibly friendly. Mitch was great to talk to and the girls working were fun and encouraged my to sample all their (wildly good) soups of the day. The soups alone would have been worth the visit but I got the wagyu steak sandwich that was tasty as hell. I hear their bread is either homemade, or locally made, and it showed. The only downside is that they don’t have anywhere to eat but the wine/beer store next door allows you to go sit in there to enjoy your food with no pressure to buy anything.

The 1 hour wait to get into Mitch's was well worth it. It was our first experience. Mitch and his whole staff treated us like royalty. We brought our little girl with us and he even gave her a free steak. His shop is spotless clean and you can tell he has top quality meat. 30 seconds after stepping in the front door you can tell Mitch loves his job. Thanksagain Mitch! We will be back!

Went to Mitch's ready to wait in line as I usually would. Went to the door to put my name in, and was verbally assaulted by the woman at the front door! She proceeded to yell at me and threatened to remove me from the list, as well as saying she would get "Mitch to come out here if I wasn't happy with it". All of this because I simply asked to get called when my place was ready. That woman has absolutely no customer relations and is the reason this business will be losing an entire family and neighborhood's business because of this incident. Will be posting about this experience on Cherokee Connect! Totally uncalled for and a horrible business practice

I have no idea how this place is still in business. Do not waste your time driving here. The butcher allows one person in at a time to "provide the best meat purchasing experience" aka he doesn't want to work with the general public. I was stopped at the door and told there was one person ahead of me and it would be a 45 minute wait OUTSIDE on the sidewalk. Yeah good luck with that business strategy in Roswell...

tl;dr: Mitch's puts the "boo" in "boutique butcher shop."Came here yesterday with my boyfriend because we were in the mood for something different--lamb, rabbit, something like that.We rolled up and, obviously, saw the 5+ signs on the door immediately. Okay, just stopped to read those...while we were trying to read the novels posted on the *completely blacked out* windows, a lady cracked open the door and told us we had to wait. Didn't wait for an answer, just shut the door in our faces.Y'all, I never stepped inside. Boyfriend and I looked at each other and walked back to our car. I don't care how good you think your product is; there's absolutely no way it's good enough that I'll jump through your hoops just to have the OPPORTUNITY to lay my eyes upon your products. If you're considering going to Mitch's, well, don't. But still, if you're open-minded and not immediately put-off by the stuck-up attitude, go to the website and read the guidelines. What it boils down to is this: they prioritize pre-order customers over walk-up customers, so chances are, if you don't pre-order, you're going to have to wait 45+ minutes. The remainder is either justifying this by bragging about his education and the critics who have complimented him, or complaining about the people who just wanted to visit a normal butcher and, predictably, get upset at the pompousness and attitude. On the extremely slim chance that Mitch sees this, I have some advice: dude, chill. Scrap your pages upon pages of "guidelines;" they read like the Facebook ramblings of a disgruntled boomer with a persecution fetish. You want to provide a customized experience for every single person? Fine. Say that, say that's the reason for the wait if you don't pre-order, and say something like "Please understand that this format is in place so that I can give every customer a personalized, informative, and helpful experience. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding." No bragging about yourself, no whining about (again, understandably) angry customers. You're a business owner, not a king or a god.At the end of the day, even if you fixed the attitude problem, I probably won't come back. Boyfriend and I just hopped on over the New York Butcher Shop in Milton, got a very nice lamb shank with a very painless and normal shopping experience, and had a lovely dinner. Unfortunately, as delicious as the lamb was, it couldn't wash out the foul taste left in my mouth by my "experience" at Mitch's.

Everyone including Mitch were nice. It was just weird because there was this feeling that we were being allowed to give Mitch our money. We bought a few things and enjoyed them all. So why would I give it 2 stars? Because you have to make an appointment to buy meat?? That's silly to me. You bend to your customers schedules and not the other way around. There was nothing bad about anything we bought but there was also nothing special. I know I can get most of what they have almost anywhere else without having to make an appointment.

My husband and I went to Mitch’s for the first time today, and we already know it’s a place we’ll be coming back to. Very friendly staff and quality food options. Mitch is a very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful guy. From our time talking with Mitch at the shop today, we can tell that he is someone who cares a lot about his customers; that he strives to uphold high standards & integrity with his service & products. Thanks to Mitch’s kind and helpful service, my husband and I enjoyed exceptional rib-eye steaks for our early Christmas dinner before he leaves for the military. I highly recommend the Australian WAGYU RIB-EYE - it was delicious!A great business that we will definitely return to in the future. Thanks, Mitch!

this is where you go to get the no holds barred best quality meats available. they have prepackaged and cut to order. Priced commensurately but not overpriced. Friendly folks and personalized service. they sell out of things if you wait till end of day to head in.Edit to add : we ordered our Thanksgiving turkey from Mitch - what a treat - Mitch takes the time to make sure every customer has the right information to make the meal a success and that really sets him apart. Best turkey ever, and some amazing seasoning as well.

We have never purchased anything bad from Mitch. Just the opposite. Every square inch of the store has been well thought out and they provide meat, chicken and fish that is unmatched anywhere in the metro area. Every time I arrive Mitch takes time to fist bump me and ask about my wife and kids. The guy is a professional at the highest level. Call ahead , get on the waiting list because they only allow one customer in at a time. They also offer call in orders that you can quickly pick up. Go in and experience the place at least once. Then call In your orders after that. 5 stars

Just stopped in to pick up provisions for Christmas dinner and was very pleased with my experience. I was acknowledged as soon as I walked in and given the "tour" since it was my first time visiting. The staff was very engaging and willing to help me find what I was looking for and made great suggestions. Mitch was very personable when I ordered and took the time to make sure I got what I wanted and was satisfied. I also enjoyed some of the hot chili for lunch - exceptional. I'd heard about this place for a while and regret that it took me so long to get there. Looking forward to many future visits.
