Great friendly people that are excited to help you out in any way possible. Clean up to date modern facility with knowledgable staff who are eager to educate. I must say that theres likely not a better animal shelter manager then the lady here an the adoption process is painless as well as the animal intake procedures. Overall a real breath of fresh air to be proud of.

Brought home the sweetest puppy today. Wish we could have given more of them a home. Adopt first!

The facility was very clean, the animals were well taken care of.If you want a pet, now is the time! They have waived all their fees and when you adopt, you get a certificate to have your pet fixed, microchiped and a rabies shot too, I think. Please open your heart and give a pet a parent.

This woman was SOOO helpful in my search for my fur baby. The entire staff is courteous, professional and just plain ole DOWN TO EARTH! After I got my baby, I dropped by for a visit. I wanted them to know how appreciative I am for my little addition. After I lost my husband in December, I felt alone. Now, after several visits , I’ve found a great group of people that truly love animals and are wonderful and knowledgeable about their jobs. If you want a pet, this is the first place to go. I absolutely love this place and the people. Thanks so much Kirsten and the rest of the crew.

Kirsten was very kind..... in telling me that this facility doesn't take care of wild animals (of course after 4 days). They NEVER answer the phone. You have to leave a voice mail and it takes them 4 days to call you back. They don't take care of wild animals UNDER your house, no matter what damage they're causing.FYI... To have a wild animal removed, you'll have to have a sizable bank account! It's quite expensive.

This place really truly cares for its animals. The cats have plenty of space to roam around once they're moved to the cat room, the dogs get treated well, and they are super friendly and helpful to people looking to adopt. Every Friday (I believe that often) the cats are taken to animal sanctuaries if not adopted. I'm unsure about the dogs, but they are well taken care of, so you can be sure a stray cat will be safe if it goes here. (As long as it's not sick or feral.)

Nice place to get a pet. I visited the other day to get a spay/neuter certificate. I took a peek at the animals they were sheltering. I saw that it was a clean and a neat facility. Animals had food and nice clean place to sleep. I wanted to take em all home. Very nice looking pets. Perfect place.

Good luck trying to call. Better luck receiving any assistance if you drive out there. Another failed portion of gordon county heading down the drain. Should have left this once beautiful place to the Cherokee.

Mixed feelings. The dogs cages are always decent. The animals seem okay. If the animal is sick, they don't seem to want to help. They focus more on the number of healthy pets they can move.

This is the cleanest animal shelter. I walked into the dog area expecting that smell, you know the one where no one cleans and there's poop everywhere. Nope, no smell and not a poop pile anywhere. The ladies were very friendly as well. It was a welcome change.

The younger lady with blonde hair is always helpful and always sweet. But, now one of the older ladies with brown hair was not customer service friendly when i went in today. There suppose to give you a leash when you leave with a dog but, she literally watched us carry him out. Other than that I've seen some shelter's now and this is like no other one. It's clean for a shelter and the animals are so sweet and wonderful. I wish i could take them all home. But, would recommend this place deffinaly. I actually got a puppy today from them. He has a Forever Home! I appreciate them for that. 💕 Thank you!

The new shelter is beautiful! I love seeing Sue when I go in there. She's very informative. Also, I graduated with a girl that works there. It's always nice to see friendly faces. It's very clean, and nice!

Very clean facility & the adoption process took all of 15 min. They didn't even check our proof of homeowner/landlord approval. It was $85 & that includes his appointment to get fixed. The staff was friendly enough to us but the younger lady seemed like she couldn't stand to be there & wasn't helpful at all when we were asking questions

Since your phones won’t allow me to talk to an actual person I’ll post this here.I have had my dog fixed I did not go to your recommend disgusting vet. Stop calling me telling me you’re going to fine me because of your contractI called the vet and you and told you this. It’s been a year and you still won’t stopEditI would also like to add my dog was in your care for two months and had fresh wounds and about covered head to toe with ticks on her. As well as extreme case of worms and kennel cough

My husband and I adopted our Bailey girl on Thursday of last week. She was in heat at the time. They were adamant that she had to be spayed the following morning. I took her to the vet for the procedure and it's just been downhill from there. The vet took my shelter certificate and spayed her as they were supposed to. They told me that there may be complications with the spay since she was in heat, but that they had to proceed with the procedure since she was from the shelter. I have spent very close to $600 on this poor animal in one week's time to fix the problems that were caused from her being spayed in heat. I think this is completely ridiculous and that the protocol should be a little different on animals getting spayed if they are in heat. Give the animal a week to come out of heat. Make the appointment with the vet and house the dog/cat until heat is over. This is dangerous for the animal and in some cases could be life threatening. Our Bailey is a wonderfully loving dog, but she has been absolutely miserable since her spay. She's had 2 different medications, another procedure done, blood work done twice. This has been not only financially exhausting, but mentally and emotionally exhausting as well. Please re-think your protocols and make exceptions for animals in heat. All of this could've been prevented.

I am visiting from Dallas and found a small friendly terrier wondering down the road today. He was almost hit several times and came running up to me when I got out of my car to get him to safety. I Googled animal shelters and it brought up Gordon County Animal Shelter. This was on a Thursday around 3pm. I called the phone number 4 times to ask what to do and nobody would answer so I found my way to the shelter. When I arrived the lights were off and the doors locked. Their hours are supposed to be until 5pm during the week so why are is nobody answering the phone and doors locked? When the lady finally opens the door she has to turn the lights on and has a nasty attitude out of the gate. I explain the story and she asks what street I found him on. I had to tell her 3 times that I’m here visiting from Texas and I don’t know the name of the street I found him on. That’s all she can keep repeating- where did you find him? She wouldn’t help until I found the area on my phone then she doesn’t even see if the dog is microchipped. She says I have to take him to the city shelter and gives my the address and that’s it.When I get to the city shelter the guy asks if the county scanned to see if the dog was microchipped and I said no she did nothing except ask what street I found the dog on then sent me his way.Absolutely do not recommend this place for any services if this is the way they treat people. I can only imagine how they treat the animals under their care.
