MacDill Air Force Base is a beautifully maintained base in Tampa, Florida. Its commissary (grocery store) is large, clean, and well-managed. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and compared to any local grocery chain, prices are much cheaper with a wide selection of items. I live 25 miles from the base, and despite the distance, I truly enjoy shopping there.

This commissary is well stocked and has convenient hours of operation. The men's bathroom, especially the floor, is pretty filthy and needs to be cleaned regularly. If you are the manager and read this, please make this happen. Anytime I've asked for assistance. The staff has been very helpful and friendly. Recommended shopping experience.

While the commissary itself was great, the hours of operation are somewhat deceiving. You can shop before 9am if you have less than 40 items to be able to use the self checkout since there are no cashiers till 9am. I wish the website at least reflected this in order to fully inform people before they make a drive to the base to shop for groceries.

Store had sign for COKE DIET ZERO for $2.70. Had multiple six packs so we put 4 in basket. When rang up it was 4.09. Cashier said we bought Coke Zero NOT Diet Coke Zero And customer service desk went back a second time with me said it was wrong and ripped sign down. Did NOT honor price.

The grocery store has good quality food and decent variety. I haven't yet been able to compare prices between them and the local grocery stores. I was disappointed in the sushi bar, because they won't make a custom sushi bowl. I like to get a bowl with double salmon with rice, but they will only sell you what they have already made.

Really impressed with the variety of nationality brand items for the holidays. The MacDill Commissary carries a large variety of seafood, meats, deli and bakery. People there so friendly, making it a great place to visit.

Nice grocery store, but not as cheap as once was. Very clean. I only go maybe 2 times a year just to get lumpias!

Good prices. Clean faculty, and friendly cashier's, baggers, and staff. Be mindful of expiration dates. Across all food departments it was noticed that in many cases the product was set to expire within days. Okay, if you are going to consume it quickly. Not okay if you planned on having it for the week.

The Macdill commissary workers are out of control, specifically the female workers at self checkout. They lack professionalism and customer service. It's quite obvious that little training is given to these workers or they fail to comprehend that they are offering a service. I don't know if because they are not of the Caucasian race they fell like they can say anything to anothere person who is not of the Caucasian race because they assumed it is not racial profiling or stereotyping. Today( April 8, 2024)at approximately 1720 the female responsible for the back kioks saw me with three baby formulas in my groceries and assume I was using wic. She said to me as I was about to cash them that wic is not accepted over here. How do you see a shopper buying three formals at $30.44 each and assumed the shopper has to be using wic. She was very rude, condescending, judgemental, etc etc. Why do they feel like they can say anything to a customer without any repercussion? This is not the first time these workers did or say something very inappropriate. Whoever is responsible for professional development and training of these workers is doing a really poor job.

First and last time I will come to this commissary. Customer service is important and the way you talk to customers is a sign of leadership and understanding. I forgot my ID when attempting to buy a ladle. I would have probably gone back and got my ID had the MANAGER not been the rude person they are. I’m unsure why civilians find it necessary to be rude to the service members and retirees that they serve. Instead of just telling me “oh, I’m sorry sir, but you will need your ID in order to be able to checkout.” I was told “well he need to go get his ID” with a rude and condescending voice. I just told her that I would go somewhere else, which I did. The attitude that I was given was just so unexpected and is never the way I would treat anyone. I will make sure to never to here again and I will spread the word to not go here as well. I will never give this commissary any business.

Tax free always. Has a variety of food to grab for any family. Competitive prices. Lines can be a bit too long sometimes and there should be more cahiers open for faster check out when busy. However for the most part it is quick service.

We travel to shop here once a month because it is cheaper to get our Meat here, and it's tax free. Everyone was very nice and it's always clean. Produce is an excellent price and it's always well stocked.

this place is okay they have a decent selection of different foods especially International food. I can't really say this place is my favorite go to place the shop however whenever I'm on TV why in the local area I feel compelled to go here and spend my money. Still not sure why there is a surcharge.

I recently had a visit where I had two separate issues, which is strange because I had never had problems here before! Usually when I go the employees are very nice, professional, and courteous. The store is clean and shelves are stocked. This recent visit though made me a little upset.I had to get some product from the deli during my trip, and I had a bad experience with the man that helped me at the counter. Now I had my roommate with me and he didn’t know what I was there for, so he stood behind me and waited for me to finish getting what I needed. When I talked to the deli man, he would then continue the conversation while looking at my roommate and asking HIM about the things I was ordering (i.e. how do you want it sliced? How much? Etc.) my roommate started getting confused because this had nothing to do with him. I attempted to redirect the conversation back toward me, but this man did not want to talk to me and seemed annoyed that I was talking at all. When I asked to sample some meat, he handed the sample to my roommate and said “for you and your.. wife.” to which I interfered and took the sample. After he very, very slowly, got the first two things I needed, I told him “I only need two more things-“ to which he said “you better hurry up then!” as if I was the one moving in slow motion.This continued until I got irritated over the misogynistic behavior, and decided to tell my roommate what I needed and walked away. I get a call only two minutes later from my roommate saying he got the stuff and asked where I was, to which I was confused since it took this man a ridiculous amount of time to get me my first two products, yet once I left he was more than happy to speed things up for the last two. I never caught this man’s name but I felt incredibly disrespected and the rudeness he showed me was unnecessary.The second issue that I had was related to checkout, where I got in the single line, and waited for the register to call me over (you know, how it’s always worked) I was called over by a register, and another lady walked up to the register AFTER I was already there and claimed I had cut in line and it was her turn, even though I had been waiting for about 3 minutes already and she had just got in line. The cashier was kind enough to try and explain to this woman that she had called me over and I was already waiting so long, and I really appreciate her speaking up for me. Unfortunately this woman did not care and continued to smack-talk to me, as I was unloading my cart already.Although this incident was caused by another shopper and not the actual store, I wanted to mention that the cashier I had did try to help me by letting the lady know that it was my turn, and I greatly appreciate it. It’s not often these days I see people willing to stand up for others, and I was a little surprised she had, and very thankful.Honestly, I’m giving this review four stars because I normally have a very positive experience, I don’t know what happened during this trip though. The only reason it’s not five stars is because of the very sexist man at the deli. Overall I did get what I needed and the prices are great, so that’s good I suppose? Hopefully next time I don’t get so much disrespect when I need cheese.

Very circus-like.. kinda a madhouse. All communication to customers goes through loud speaker. "Next on register 1" "HELLO EVERYBODY NEXT ON REGISTER 9.. COME ON DOWN NNNN!"The location has an alright selection of products. But the flow of the area is very very poor. And the constant loud speaker will give you anxiety. They have a line board.. its either not working or they don't want to use it.I mean the place has potential. But seems to be poor space management and upkeep. I honestly won't be back. I don't like feeling trapped and yelled at constantly.

It is such a distance for us from Riverview, but worth the trip. My guess is more people would enjoy it, if it were in Brandon. Prices and quality above average. Some smiles on staff, apparently people who are volunteers are less happy. Not sure why. Deli sandwich excellent if slow and strange process.

If I could shop at these prices all the time, I could maybe afford to eat! 😆 seriously though...I got thin sliced pork chops (perfect for fried rice) on sale 2 days before expiration fpr....$1.31. Really! I got 4 and froze 3. They are always a tax free shopping option if you or a family member are military or ex-military. You guys should remember this is an option for you to save a little money.
