The men who run the shop are so helpful! They really care for all the animals. I can tell as they are all clean and look healthy. I bought a cockatiel last year and every time I have a question or need advice they help and don't over charge for their animals or supplies.

Inexpensive but good quality parrot food, the owners and staff know thier stuff, from avians to fish. And speaking of fish, they carry fishing supplies like rods, reels,hooks, line, sinker and bait. Best price I've seen so far for silversides, $4.99 for a container!

I was calling places to look for specific type of bird and i already expect a Spanish speaking person will answer the phone but i am not fluent in spanish so i asked if there's someone who speaks English then Here goes a English speaking person with a Hostile voice coming to the phone asking CAN WE HELP YOU? Don't mind the bad reviews about it being loud and rude, it's a father son business run very well it's a very busy place but they help you with all your needs ,don't upsale you and have best prices in town believe me I know. Thank you Gracias 10/10

It is your typical "cuban style pet shop". I had a great experience though, good prices and also local. I prefer this pet shop than 'Pet Smart' or 'Petco' because they don't treat you with respect. I give it 4 stars because it is usually crowded with people talking. But overall it was a great experience. Go and Check it out.

Very inexpensive store. Expected a much larger selection of supplies, but they did have a few varied options. Staff seemed friendly, but I had some concerns about some the animals.Most of the animals looked healthy and the cages looked clean. There were signs of disease in the canaries (heavy feather loss around head/neck, discharge from eyes, quiet and clicking). Extreme stress plucking in the quakers (not one single feather on the chest/neck, many feathers missing on the back and legs) and light to moderate stress plucking in a few other of the parrot species. Cages look clean but have zero toys to keep the birds occupied/happy. They also do not have appropriate perches in them (dowel rod perches only- only having these can cause foot infection and foot pain as well as poor foot muscle development). Many of the show cages are overcrowded and some of them are far too small for the species they house, even for a pet store. There were several dead fish in the tanks, and the water looked unbalanced in a few of them. The betas are kept in extremely small breeding boxes with not enough room to swim around. The cages the pigeons are kept in are too small for the birds to even turn around in comfortably. Honestly, PetSmart treats their animals MUCH better (nicer lighting, appropriate toys, large enclosures that aren't overcrowded, no signs of illness). If you're looking for an extremely high quality place to purchase a bird, I strongly recommend Simbad's Birds (extremely knowledgeable staff, appropriate perches in cages, nice sized show cages, much larger selection, more appropriate diets being fed. No signs of illness and you get a 30 day guarantee that their birds will not be sick. Free grooming for life.) I've kept birds for over 10 years and used to be an avid guppy fish breeder. I've seen worse conditions than El Palomar, but I've also seen much, much better.

Great pet shop for bird supplies. Their focus is on pigeons, canaries, and supplies. They have cages of all kinds, and variations of feeds. They also have a few different type of other birds and a room of fish for aquariums.
