I needed some screws. They had an entire box which was a much better deal than buying them individually. Quite a large choice sizes and styles. Especially a lot of stainless steel fasteners.

I’ve gone to Ace, and primarily this location, for most of the 23 years we’ve lived in Clermont. This week I rented a carpet cleaning machine to clean one bedroom. While checking out, the cashier was helpful and honest, making share that I knew if the machine wasn’t returned clean (suggested hosing off the brushes), that $15 of my $35 deposit would be withheld. Upon returning the machine 24 hours later, the young woman checking in the machine, who was pleasant and helpful, sought the opinion of the “Associate Manager”, who was clearly irritated by some other situation. She harshly acknowledged that the cleaning fee would need to be withheld, which given that we have 2 German shepherds, I was OK with due to the amount of endless hair they shed and I did not detail the brushes that closely, just hosed off as instructed. The issue arose when my transaction was closed out and I only received a $10 refund of my $35 deposit. When the pleasant cashier asked the “Associate Manager’ about the issue, stating that “Stewart” had told me I would be subject to a $15 cleaning fee, not $25, the response she received was “well, you’ve gone this far, it’s too late now.” It’s a shame that $10 and the “big box store” approach of this manager, have lost a dedicated Ace customer and family.

Long time Ace customer, but the Clermont location does not compare to others in terms of customer experience. Do not recommend.------------------------Thanks for the below reply. I'd never heard of not being able to exchange an unused product before, and know for a fact that I've been able to do this at the WG location.The item I was hoping to exchange was suggested to me originally by another employee there, but it turned out to be the wrong size. I was already frustrated over having to take time to get back to your store for the swap, so this felt like adding salt into the open wound.Because I had no use for the product, I left the item at your store along with my receipt. I've already purchased the correct size elsewhere. ACE has my address on file, and sends me things in the mail often. Ace could resolve this without me having to spend another 45 minutes traveling to your location and back to process a $15 return.

Always love the helpfulness and friendliness of the store. I have never taken time to write a review but after visiting the store during hurricane prep wanted to take the time to do so. Visited Thursday afternoon and all the employees still smiling, being super efficient, and just a reminder of why to shop local.

This place is the best! I must have been there 10 times over the last 3 weeks and every time I went someone helped me, and they didn’t just point me to the right aisle- they gave pointers about using products/tools, warnings about potential problems, and never once were condescending despite my obvious confusion at times. My project started as a minor bathroom update which turned into a much bigger project than expected but with their guidance I was able to pull it off! Thank you.

I'm a rewards member so they have my phone number and my email address but when I forgot something at their store no one bothered to contact me to let me know, by the time I realized I left it they said it's too late and too bad ,buy more. But, now I won't buy anything ever again. Thx Ace , the not so helpful hardware store.

I've been shopping here for years, and today was my first disappointment. ACE is an owner's co-op, and this helps them to have buying power to compete with the big box stores. Most products are about the same price as Lowes and HD or just slightly more. I'll usually pay the extra dollar or so for the convenience and because the service is world-class.Occasionally I'll find an item that is priced $3-5 more at ACE than the other guys, and in the past they were happy to price match if I could show the competitive price. Today however, I was informed they don't price match anybody. I mentioned they had in the past, but the manager (while polite) was resolute.Knowing this now, I'll be less likely to shop ACE first in the future. They're a great store but given the current economy, price is important. If I were the owner I wouldn't do anything that might encourage customers to shop elsewhere first.

Very helpful staff, definitely went the extra mile for me. I showed up an hour before closing and bought a large item that couldn't fit in my car; the manager delivered it personally the next morning. A day later and it would've been too late for my Independence Day BBQ!

The "boss" was answering my questions fairly well and we finally found the product that I wanted. It was hanging at the very top and since he was a somewhat taller, I asked him to get it. Well, he did, but also said "I think that you can reach it!". What a dumb response! I'm not inclined to return. I've noticed "attitude" at this store before. I guess that they have all of the business that's needed. Next time I'll go to Lowe's where the customer service person went over and beyond to help with a return. I usually try to do business with locals, but these people are too rude for me.

Came in for help with paint issues from another ACE hardware and the managers Kasandra and Barry were very helpful. They made sure that I left a happy customer and did everything they could to help me. The store overall is super clean and organized and the staff here are very friendly. I even asked if I can come work with them part time. I’d recommend anyone to come here.

From day 1 I started going to Ace for bait to fish in the small lake in the back of my son’s house in Clermont my customer experience has been “Top Notch” from all of the employees there. My wife and I & my grandson came down a second time to Clermont to stay and of course we went to Ace for our bait. The gentleman I met the first time, Ryan, has been exceptional when it comes to customer service. After a few trips of getting bait, I had one mishap with the bait. I called and spoke to Ryan and advised me to come back on their next delivery of bait and he will take care of it. We’ll, this gentleman is a man of his word. I purchased some bait and he replenished the ones that where lost. Whenever I visit my family here in Clermont I’ll be coming to this Ace for all of my home, garden and of course my fishing needs. By the way my grandson caught a 6.9lb bass and I caught a 7.4lb bass using Ace shiners. Thanks again Ryan for everything you’ve done for me and my family during our stay in Clermont.

My husband has been shopping at this store for over 15 years. He has always had an awesome experience. I decided to rent a Bissell carpet cleaning machine and went to Hilltop Ace instead of Home Depot. When I returned it to the store today I was told that it was not cleaned properly. I told the young gentleman who was assisting me that I cleaned it the best that I could based on the brochure and removed the hair and debris. I told him that I did not want to use a garden hose for fear that it may damage the machine. He replayed that was how he has always cleaned the machine. I then asked him if I could clean the machine and he told me sure you can take it back home and clean it and bring it back to the store. After loading this 40 pound machine into my car and cleaning the carpet for two day the last thing I wanted to do was put it back in my car. I then asked did they not have a garden hose that I could use to clean the machine. He told me to go to the back of the store and see the manager. She obviously had been aware of what was going on and she looked at me and said the hose is in the back. A simple hello would have gone a long way at this point. Please remember that your customer are not as knowledge as you are with regards to your equipment and for any customer that plan on renting one of these machine please know that you can use a garden hose to clean underneath the machine. It took me less then 2 minutes to clean the machine.Update 12/31/19The owner of Ace Hardware call me regrading my experience at his store. He is very involved with all his stores and wanted to let me know that he was very disappointed with how his staff handled the return of the carpet cleaner. I appreciated him taking the time to reach out to me. I'm changing my review from a 2 to a 4. This owner truly wants all his customer to have a wonderful experience shopping at his stores.

Not very friendly, If you need help with keys don’t waste your time with ACE, as it’s not the place anymore. They won’t cut keys that are not their own. I said no problem, I will buy the key from you, his response “We don’t sell that key”Save yourself from being talked down too and Go see a local locksmith.

For years I have been shopping at this ace hardware store. They are always friendly and eager to help you find what you need. Great selection of quality products and knowledgeable staff. Much quicker and easier to navigate and find what you're looking for than the big home improvement stores. I will always be a life long customer.

I don't think the older gentleman that barely helped me was interested in working today. He was very unhelpful. The most unhelpful I've dealt with in a long time. There were even moments when he was completely unresponsive to my questions, I thought maybe he was hard of hearing, but when he did finally respond to my question I realized that he had heard me he just didn't feel like looking up from what he was doing to answer my questions. I had never been inside an Ace Hardware store before, so unfortunately my experience wasn't as pleasant as I would've hoped. I thought it was just an automotive store, but I learned that they have a lot more than automotive stuff and the cashier was nice. I realize everyone has bad days, so I would definitely take the risk of being insulted again because the store looked cool otherwise.

I love this place. Every time I go in there the staff is very helpful and it's not like a big store where you have to run around for a while looking for what you need before someone asks you to help. You're not in that store for more than a minute before someone offers you assistance and then you get it. So pretty much order anything that they don't have in stock for you ASAP. They don't know everything but they will look it up for you and try to help you figure it out and for that reason it feels like a family store. They cut glass for you. They also cut chain to length. If you buy mulch rock or soil they will load it up for you as well outside. I really like this store and I highly recommend it.

I like supporting the smaller stores, But on an early morning visit on 11/21/2020 after looking up an item online showing me you had available stock , I arrived at the store to only be told " ONLINE IS ALWAYS WRONG" and then I suddenly found my self in the land of (NO) . 3 of your Employees a young lady and two men were present and none of them offered any alternatives to the stock outage. Actually the lady stated "I cant even get this from the warehouse that's ODD? " You the owner may want to invest in an inventory specialist at your location. 5 Stars of Course. Do not waste your time going to any other hardware store. You will never get this type of customer service. I only went into Ace Hardware to get two keys made. The staff are friendly, helpful and sooooo knowledgeable. I walked out an "Expert" just from the many conversations I had with the staff about anything from car keys to locks to lawn and garden. The prices are so reasonable but the hometown feel is priceless. Thank you for all your help!

The staff in the store are always helpfull and make sure you don't leave unhappy. I went in for AC filters, there were none on the shelf. The associate on Shift made sure she went to the back and got me whay I need it. No hesitation or even a sign of laziness to go find what i was looking for. Very happy customer 😀

They even helped us with our replumbing underneath our sink after installing a new sink making sure we had the right pieces and how they would be put together. They live up to there jingle "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man" and more! ( Unlike the "box stores")

This and all central Florida Toole's Ace hardware stores are beyond excellent. I've literally never been let down by Clermont's Ace after striking out at Home Depot and Lowes repeatedly. They have everything. I don't know HOW they have everything in a store that is 1/10th the size of Home Depot....but they do.....neatly organized at prices that match or beat the competition.

Also, I lost my keys and a good samaritan brought them to Ace here in Clermont. Ace called me as I had an Ace card on my key chain!! Thanks!!

Mostly DEAD "live" bait... They only get two stars based on history. If today was my only experience they would get ,zero stars. I bought live bait, minnows, to fish tomorrow night. The kid helping me and I discussed this. He suggested when I get them home to put ice in the water. It slows their metabolism and they live longer. In the past we have kept them for more than one week. Imagine my astonishment when I get home about (15 minutes drive) to find a solid mass of floating minnows in my cooler. Fortunately, we have an air pump so I think we MAY save 1/3 to 1/2 of them. REGARDLESS, in the future I'll be running up the road to Groveland Ace for my minnows.
