SHOOTS every cat that comes on her property?!? That’s what she told me.This place is awful! Drove hours to TRY to meet them TWICE because they don’t keep regular hours and won’t make appointments. The ad said they wouldn’t adopt to people under 18, not that we had to both have ID or we’d be ridiculed and told we were trash. The owner suspected my 24-year-old to be a child because she’s short. Owner freaked out even though she said she’d get her ID. She said “All of the animals I have here are because of entitled kids like you and this new generation. You’re all a bunch of spoiled kids whose parents want to be your friend. The parent gets them a pet to occupy them and keep the kid out of their parent’s hair and then three days later, they throw the pet away and I end up with them.” We were shocked! She went on and on about how the only time she has ever dealt with surrenders like she is now is in the last 10 years because of how horrible the new generation is. Also, I am clearly much older than my 24-year-old and I was there for me. My daughter was along because it was an almost four hour drive. My daughter was not hardly even talking and is not adopting and even if she was, she’s well over 18. The lady claimed they have thousands of animals, but only 4 acres and she mentioned horses. That’s insane! Then she tried to charge us $600 when the ad said at most $200. She refused to look at the ad, but had just yelled at us that her ads said no one under 18 was allowed on the property. Again, we are both well over 18. The owner was rude and awful. At one point she said to go to our local pound and I explained they only deal with cats and dogs and at the mere mention of cats, she went off saying how she hates cats and SHOOTS every single cat that comes anywhere on her property. We left. This place is contracted through the county with county tax dollars? Someone needs to do something. If the owner can treat people like this and go around murdering every cat she can find, imagine how she’s treating all of the “thousands” of animals she claims to be caring for all by herself. I’m just sick after a short encounter with her. I wish I had recorded how hateful she was. I didn’t give her a dime and won’t be going back.

Drove across the state to adopt this gorgeous creature. Was pleased to see it housed in an ample aviary with other birds of its size. There was plenty of food and water available. All the animals looked content and healthy. Shirley is a tireless operator of the rescue, carrying a heavy load of rescuing critters, adopting out critters, feeding all of them daily, rain or shine, in good health and when sick. Mending the injured and nursing babies. I just don't know how she does it all.Went back 2 months later and adopted another rescue. This beautiful Moluccan Cockatoo.

I'm happy a place like Fallin Pines exists to take care of animals in need. I've toured the property before and the animals look happy and healthy. I wanted to upgrade my cockatiel's cage and went straight to Shirley to see what was available. One quick phone call and I headed over right away. Found the perfect one for my little guy and it had tons of toys in it too!! I had a great experience with Shirley and she is very dedicated to the rescue.

I surrendered 3 female rats that I couldn’t take care of and the owner took them in her care without a second thought. I truly appreciate her for giving them a second chance at life.

My wife gave away my ferrets to this place without my consent(to be hateful) and now they will not give them back to me. One of my ferrets named Oreo needs medication twice a day to avoid seizures which can lead to death and the lady of this place said she was not going to give him anything. DO NOT give any animals to this place!!!!!!!!Update: Shirley did not give Oreo his medication and he died

I got my precious boys from her and they are so sweet and I’ve had no issues with them. The adoption price was great also and she was very nice in helping me with a cage and other items for them. So happy I found her rescue!

Recommended by a friend when we found two baby squirrels in our backyard. They gave us sound advice on what to do and it all worked out. Definitely recommend even just calling in a situation like mine. Thanks for the help!!

SHIRLEY took our baby flying squirrels that fell out of our tree while the arborists were trimming the palms. We saved three babies - keeping them warm, feeding them at all hours. Decided we needed to have a professional look after them so they could be raised to be healthy. Found Fallin Pines and took our babies there. Was sad to part with them but Shirley told us we could stop by and visit anytime. About a month later, we decided to go visit and see how they were doing and she treated us like we were a BOTHER and she didn't have time for interruptions. I HAVE NEVER been treated so badly. She probably sold them off.

We went to see Shirley today to adopt a couple bearded dragons from her. We were highly impressed with the rescue and the condition of all of the animals. She takes great care of the place. She was so sweet and even gave us fresh chicken eggs. We will definitely be adopting from her again in the future.

I received a tour of the place and I left knowing the pets were going to be well cared for. Shirley was very kind and knowledgeable about my pets. She knew right away one was very sickly and would mostly die. I am thankful for her. Her facilities were very well kept.

Such a wonderful, loving and caring experience. I felt so happy and relieved that my Guinea pig found a new home and friends at this shelter. It’s cleaned and organized, plus animals are treated with love and respect. Thank you for taking my beautiful Sandy into your home!

Do not give your animals to this rescue group if you care about their safety! This rescue group DOES NOT have the animal’s best interest in mind… my friend’s ferrets were given away without his consent while he was away from home few weeks back, after trying to figure out where his wife sent them to out of malice and spite he found out she had contacted this rescue group. He proceeded to contact them to explain the situation and begged the person running the rescue group to allow him to reunite with his pets. His main concern was to make them aware that one of his ferrets needed daily medication( twice a day) in order to survive because of a seizure disorder and constant medical care.Shirley told him and me when I tried to call her to explain the dire situation that she was not giving them back that she was going to do whatever she wanted with them and that she was for sure not going to give the medicine to Oreo because she thought he didn’t need it. After begging and begging her to please provide Oreo the Ferret with proper medical care she still refused to do so. Today we found out the Oreo passed away …. It was all due to the lack of medical care and the fact this woman refused to provide the animal with the medication he needed to survive. She also made sure to give away Rocky the other Ferret instead of returning him to his rightful owner begging her to return them both. This has been a devastating event to my friend, those ferrets were his family, his companions, his beloved pets…. She did all this to be spiteful ! How can a person that runs a animal rescue group and claims to be an advocate for animal welfare be so bad spirited and neglectful to these poor animals. I hope this horrible experience that has already affected my poor friend in such a devastating way prevents other people from giving their pets to this rescue group.

Shirley is one of the most caring and loving individuals I have ever met. She treats every single animal with compassion and kindness. The grounds are in immaculate condition and every animal is stress free.Fallin' Pines Critter Rescue does not take in dogs or cats. They do how ever rescue and adopt out some exotics. They include; bunnies, all types of birds, and other small exotic animals. Always call before heading out to the grounds. If you can I would highly recommend donating to Fallin' Pines Critter Rescue. I donate to Shirley's rescue as much as I can. All donations go directly to the animals in her care. Thank you so much for being such an amazing human Shirley!!!

Called twice to arrange to see birds available for adoption to be told they don’t keep regular hours of operations and don’t take appointments. Because I live 2 hours away, the manager (a woman) told me to look elsewhere because she cannot guarantee to stay there more than 2 hours at any given day. This organization supposedly has a contract with the County to help these animals, according to her. This is public money to help support adoption. Meanwhile, the person in charge is going out of her way to ensure pets are not adopted. I’m gonna make a formal complaint with the county. The county should support serious organizations only. If you had a similar experience with this organization leave a review so we can raise awareness to this misuse of public funds.

My partner and I needed to rehome our two ferrets; first we went to a humane society near us to see if we can surrender them. They gave us paperwork to sign and the last paper said we had to be okay with the possibility of euthanasia if they couldn't be adopted. Both of us turned around with our ferrets and went back to the car to look for alternatives. We found Fallin Pines Critter rescue and was only an hour away from us. We gave her a call and the next day decided to go to her rescue.Shirley's land is rlly nice and we loved how she decorated it. She is full of spunk and boisterous. I think people confuse that with her being rude, they cant handle her personality. She knows who she is and definitely doesnt want to put on a mask and be the soft person people want. Also she has told us so many times that people don't do their research on the animals they want to adopt. They have the audicity to call her up about wanting to adopt a critter and then asking her what they eat. Damn right she's gonna be loud and call people out.Shirley is a strong woman and she is kind, people definitely misread her and can't handle her personality. Thank you for taking in our ferrets, letting us tour around abit and for the eggs!!

Fallin Pines is a farm animal and exotic pet rescue that's been around for years. I recently contacted them when I rescued a wild duckling and Shirley graciously pointed me in the right direction to the Muscovy Sanctuary.

Very nice property and there’s a lot of animals but the owner was pretty rude. I adopted a ferret from her but immediately I noticed that she was sick. I tried to wait a little to see if she would improve but after 2 weeks of problems I called Shirley to see if she could offer any help and all she told me was that I could return her or swap her. I know I currently can’t afford a sick ferret so I decided to take her back so that she could get the best care. When I took her back she immediately said it was my fault and refused to listen about the Symptoms she had. I have a ferret already that is 100% healthy. I hope she can come to her senses and provide her the care she needs.

Shirley runs Fallen Pines Rescue, and is super nice and knowledgeable. I was referred to the rescue when looking for another ferret as a playmate for our Daisy. Talk about a menagerie! There a lots of permanent residents at Fallen Pines, including a kangaroo who's been there 16yrs! However, she does accept pets who are given up, from guinea pigs, rabbits, parrots, sugar gliders, etc, and finds homes for them. Her adoption rates are more than fair, and she screens every potential adopter. I highly recommend her! She gladly accepts donations to help her provide for all the animals' needs.

Shirley is doing a great job taking care of animals. I admire her perseverance and dedication. A lot of animals gets left with her and she cares enough to take them all in. I wish I could've adopted all the critters but I was only able to adopt 3 guinea pigs. Please adopt, don't buy from pet stores. Fallin Pines Critter Rescue has wonderful animals needing loving homes.

I just dropped off 2 little squirrel pinkies. One didn't make the ride and the other is fatally injured. Even though the little guy doesn't really have a chance Shirley was willing to take him and keep him as comfortable as possible. She held them both lovingly and thanked me for caring. You could feel the love she has for these tiny creatures. Being so upset over this situation i left your rescue without thinking of offering a donation, so I've made a donation through your website. Thank YOU for caring Shirley! You are one very special person.

Fallen Pines Is a PHENOMENAL place. Not only is it a beautifully kept garden with flowers and masses of butterflies, there is absolutely NO sign of stress on the animals there. It is kept in immaculate condition free from odors of urine and feces. Shirley is an amazing person with the biggest of hearts. Her concern is for the animals first and foremost. I really like the fact that she is very picky about who she adopts out to. PLEASE find it in your heart ❤️ to donate her sanctuary. If anyone deserves the help she does.

I have to put this out there because some people are frauds. Please stay away from Fallin pines critters rescue out of Orlando, FL.My friend is going through a nasty divorce, & his ex-wife gave his two ferrets to this supposed animal rescue & shelter. She did this to hurt him. After he explained that the ferrets were his, the lady still refused to give them back. He told her one of the ferrets has a medical condition. She still refused. Once she gave the ferrets up for adoption, or most likely sold them, the one ferret died because lack of medical care. The lady who runs this shelter does not do it for the love of animals. She is doing it for a profit. She had the original owner there, & refused to return them to him. Even after he showed her a receipt for one of the ferrets, Oreo, & a bunch of pictures of both of them in his arms. Please do not donate or buy help this evil person in any way. She is a fraud.

Mrs. Shirley was absolutely amazing when I called about having to rehome my pet rats and hamster. She was more than willing to take them without asking questions! This woman does so much for so many and gets little recognition. Miss Shirley I just want to say thank you for not judging me for bawling my eyes out by talking to you on the phone about having to relocate and not being able to take my animals. I have full trust in you with their life that they will be happy and right at home thank you so very much I look forward to seeing you very soon!

Great place, the woman that owns this rescue is so kind, there are plenty of room for the animals to run and everything is well maintained. I drove all the way from Tampa after calling several shelters that were closer to me because I felt like this was the best place I could bring my rabbit. I feel good about my decision to give him to this place since I couldn’t care for him anymore. He is much happier being around other rabbits and he is outside with a lot more room to run and play. Call her ahead of time, don’t just show up. She requires you wear closed toed shoes and no children under 18 on the property.

I'm so glad and thankful that I found this beautiful rescue. I know my little rescue pigeon "Diva" will be happy and protected and she's now able to fly around and be with other pigeons and chickens. Falling Pines Critter Rescue you are now one of my most favorite places to visit and support. Shirley Cannan you're amazing!

I visited this rescue with a friend to adopt a guinea pig. The lady was very friendly and had exactly what we were looking for. This is not a public facility, so an appointment is needed. It is a very clean facility and all of the animals are very well taken care of. The atmosphere of the rescue is like none other. It is well decorated and an overall happy place to be. Highly recommend if you are looking to adopt an animal that this rescue has to offer.
