We shop here EVERY week, we buy bulk fruits every week and have never had an issue before. We've always had a pleasant experience with the stock workers in the produce department! But as we were checking out this time me and my partner noticed that more cashier's started gravitating towards me and them. 1 become 4 in three minutes. Even going as far to wipe the self check out right next to us. I understand they have a job, we had a lot of money in our cart and we understand that they have to make sure we pay for everything. What baffled me is after we paid I had looked at my partner and said "now that we paid we can leave!" And the group of women huddles and started giggling between each other saying "goodbye! Sayonara! Adios!" which is quite disrespectful considering that never has anyone approached us in any other circumstance saying that we look suspicious or look as though we are stealing. The whole experience is embarrassing and horrifying.We hope that nobody else has the experience we did, it just might be time for a Costco card instead.

I frequent this store multiple times a week and spend a lot of money here between groceries and things for our cats like litter and food. A lot of the employees always smile at you and I always see Colby’s smiling face and he greets us every-time. A few months ago an older woman stopped me as I was leaving self checkout and asked to see my receipt which I handed to her and she asked me to take every item out of the bags and place it on the counter which I did and when she saw everything on my receipt she just says thank you and walks away for me to put all my items back into the bags. This same woman today (older woman, gray hair, glasses) stood behind my fiancé and I at self checkout (literally pressed up against our cart), she moved to the side watching our every move as we scanned every item and bagged it and then the second we walked away she ran over to our machine and reprinted our receipt to check it for herself I guess, this experience just made us both very uncomfortable, we work very hard for our money and I understand she has a job to do but it just seems very targeted at this point. I don’t think I’ll be shopping at this store any longer.

I really liked the lady who was working in the cakes section , she was so helpful , polite and sweet. So was the guy at the billing counter. This was my first visit to Safeway and really enjoyed shopping there. I would really recommend shopping there if you never went there . Staff were really nice to me.

I normally don't shop at Safeway, due to location, but stopped in to pick up a few item to take to work. They had the clerical items I needed and I picked up lunch as well. Im kinda disappointed with the chicken from the ready to eat section as it was too dry for my liking. Other than that store is well stocked and very clean.

For the love of ….. PLEASE ROTATE YOUR STOCK. I too frequently buy things which are expired from this store. It’s so frustrating. Otherwise, the staff is nice and the store is mostly clean.

If there was less than one star I would use it. My husband and I are handicapped and sometimes we can't grocery shop in person. We like the staff and prices are good, we have shopped there for years. we have used pick up service in the pblackast but we used the service a few days before Halloween. Our pick up window about to close, no notification to pick up, so we called the store, no answer. Drove to the store, nowhere near completed, waited in parking lot 1.5 hours. Okay, everyone has a bad day.So I thought I would try delivery service. We had appointments early in the day, so picked 4pm - 8pm so as not to miss delivery. At 8:30pm checked the site, nothing. Inquired about the order through online chat. They put a ticket in to driver for them to make contact. A miracle! A car blip on the map heading to store & then off to my house. ETA 10:14 pm, all lights on, opened door, stood on front porch. Got a message 10:18pm groceries delivered & a black picture with lights(?) in the distance. I'm still on the porch. At 10:49pm back to the online chat. They said it showed delivered. So the chat suggested I check with neighbors, basically me handicapped should go door to door at night in the rain. My only recourse is to cancel the order, in which case they would refund my money in 5-7 days. I asked that they have the manager call me, store closed at this point. Next day 3pm still waiting. Chat said they sent a message to corporate management team. My credit card company states that I have to wait until the pending charges are posted in order to dispute. Charges for the groceries & miscellaneous charges which total $ 407.00 includes a $21 tip. Merry Christmas someone!

Self service registers are very unorganized. Lines for waiting are vague and unmarked. The employees at the section do a poor job of maintaining order. Customers line up in the grocery aisle to wait instead of near the registers. There is enough room to create a Walmart style lane to prevent confusion and ensure a visible entrance to the registers.

Bought some neck for stew and it was full of fat pieces which should have been disguised into the packet. This put me off so much there is no way I am likely to go back here for lamb . It not honest practice as the picture shows . This was from one small packet total weight about 2 lbs and I lost half of it to this packed fat . Very bad .

I want to give Kudos to Tiana for her excellent customer service at this store. She was kind, courteous & knowledgeable.Not only she helped me, but also helped others with same diligence! I hope the management recognize her for her hard work and going the extra mile!Overall, I rate this Safeway as one of the best!

Stopped by to pick up something quick. I was walking by the sea counter and saw shrimp on sale. I asked where the on sale shrimp was and it was in the frozen section in bags. The same shrimp at the counter weren't on sale. So, I grabbed a 2lb bag and asked if they would steam them. Sure. No problem. Steaming them is free. When i picked up my shrimp they were not on sale. They were full.price even thought the sign says steaming is free, it's not. The shrimp were $2 more a pound if you want them steamed. So that was $4 for steaming them. I'm sure they'll find those shrimp some day. Don't fall for their false advertising.

Visited twice over a weekend to get firewood and some camping supplies. The first visit was nice - friendly staff, quick checkout. The second was the opposite. It's funny how staff can make or break the whole experience.

I live closer to 2 other supermarkets and I pass 2 soon to be 3 to get to this one. The prices are a little higher but they always have what I am there for. I stop going after I witnessed an elderly woman ahead of me ask the young cashier if he could bag her groceries. He respectfully declined saying "we don't bag groceries" this is the main reason I stopped going to a supermarket closer to my home. And I now get it, long gone are the days of quality service. You don't want to bag my groceries it is what it is BUT I think there must be a level of consideration and respect for senior citizens to at least help assist or offer. I am now driving to Wilmington and for the prices they charge groceries are getting bagged. When they get out of pocket I will have no choice but to order online. Welcome to 2023.

Staff... friendly... selection good. Issue: excessive raw juices pouring off their in store raw meat packaging. It is not sanitary. There should not be raw juices oozing out of their poor packaging. This may lead to customers getting sick. Meats are expensive... package them safely please!!!

Only one cashier on staff, but my daughter enjoyed working the self checkout for the first time, I'm glad we had a small amount. Many sale items were sold out already by 12pm. But the experience was okay, the store was clean which I appreciate.

Not a bad store, but their meat selection could be bigger. I couldn't find a single chuck roast in the place. Also, they need a better recipe for the eclairs they have in the bakery section.

I love this store. It is always very clean & well stocked. The staff is pleasant.You can get very beautiful fresh flowers here. There are always many discounts for club members(it's easy to become one). And they have hot food for sale - I love the roasted chicken!

Went for ice cream. I am lactose intolerant so it would be great if all the lactose free ice cream would be put together in a separate location from the regular ice cream. It would have saved me a lot of time if this was done instead of putting it separately according to Brands. Going back and forth comparing other brands and flavors. Doesn't this make sense?

This has been the most convenient grocery store for my location and the only one I would give 5 stars to in New Castle County. The store manager Joe has helped me with my kids and their school donating a gift card and the non foods manager Erin or Erica (I’m sorry) have gone above and beyond for times that were important in my life like my sons birthday recently that she stepped out of her department to problem solve for me, or I was in a time crunch, to take time out of their busy day to stop and help me just to make sure I left happy. I genuinely feel like the staff is just added on family. The staff that has been there seem to be there all the time but you would never know because they are so pleasant. I am always called out and recognized and told hello or got to chat for a minute, and I love that. I love that you don’t feel rushed but at the same time things are done efficiently. Thank you everyone for being so awesome!!! You deserve a raise, you truly are an asset to the company and I hope that they recognize you for that.

Great customer service, friendly staffGood deals , fresh produce and high quality meats. Excellent selections in dairy and frozen. Best bakery around, deli/ hot foods are delicious. Floral Selections are above any in the area and don’t forget about the Starbucks and cafe area if you want to have a meeting or eat lunch . Well run and maintained Grocery store why shop anywhere else.

First time here. Went over the weekend. Not packed for a Saturday. Friendly staff, great selection of food, and fair prices. I was mostly impressed with their huge selection of flowers and unique arrangements. It's like having a florist within a grocery store. All of their flowers were fresh and beautiful, especially the roses :)

This store is always well stock, Associates are friendly along with the Managers. Check out their Flower shop, plenty to chose from lovely affordable arrangements. One of the largest flower dept. I've ever seen in a grocery store. Other than Traders Joe, this store is another option.

Good selection, nice floral arrangements, tasty baked goods, but not much help to be found at the bakery or registers these days. I'm not using automated checkout, I'd rather go somewhere populated with humans than fight the robots again.

This is the store closest to my home. They are owned by the same company as Acem. This store seems cleaner than the nearby competition. Like all stores they are realign more on self check out and often only have one lane with a cashier working. This new policy to save money does not make me happy. Over all I get what I expect and nothing more.

Unfortunately there are never enough cashier's. You can always find self checkout open but too many people in the line waiting. Most of the cashier's are older women and most time they are miserable and not nice to customers. They all lack empathy especially for the elderly people that don't understand self checkout. The variety of items within the store are also always lacking. I would much rather shop at Food Lion.

I don’t understand why we can’t have the same type of Safeway as in BelAir. The Bel Air store is my favorite, so many more choices and actually lower prices on some items I frequently buy! Guess I will still make the trek to Harford County!
