The employees were super patient with us while trying to find a dog that would fit into our household. They offered and introduced us dogs that we initially never thought of as options. The staff clearly has an obvious love for each dog. They knew specifics about the dogs and the dogs definitely trusted them. We adopted Boozer (was Goose) from the Dover shelter and they lead us to the dog perfect for us. We are very grateful for the Brandywine SPCA (we visited Copeland and Dover) for helping us find our Boozer.

Awesome group of people, definitely a lot of options for older dogs that need a home. Very easy process with the same day and takes home very possible. We were lucky, and they had puppies as well, which is what the wife wanted anyway.

My daughter and I went in looking for a cat. She saw Ivis and it was a wrap! This cat is the sweetest, most loving cat. The staff and volunteers at BVSPCA were so helpful and nice.

I take my cat here for her shots and flea treatments. I love the vet and staff. They took care of my dog til the end of her life and were very accommodating during that time. When I got my kitten I knew this is where I would be taking her for her wellness checks.

Clean, professional, and reasonably priced. I brought my puppy there to get spayed and it cost me a fraction of what my vet was going to charge. They had openings right away and our pup had no problems recovering from the procedure. I'm very happy these types of places are available.

Unfortunately I had a horrible experience at this location. In regard to administration, the customer service was terrifying. I took my sick animal to get testing done for a UTI and they never got back to me in regard to the results. It was over a month! I had called and went into the location multiple times with no solution. They refused to give a refund for the testing and the site manager was very rude in trying to give a solution to this ongoing issue. And specifically told me to take the results to a different practice for them to read the results. Very unprofessional.

so me and my girlfriend are highly interested in adopting a dog, we don’t have any specific wants or needs when it comes to them so we decided to stop by here and see our options. this is not a location i’ve gone too so i was confused on how everything worked so when we arrived we got to the front counter and no one was there.. at all.. we stood standing there till we eventually just had to figure it out ourselves like?…(we did see one employee who ignored us)…eventually we went through all of the animals and me and my girlfriend started to see a pattern in all the dogs.. they looked HORRIBLE. some were very sweet but most of the dogs had fur falling off and there nails were so long they were overlapping it’s devastating the staff doesn’t care.. will NOT be giving them my money to treat animals like this…

The wait was long, but when I got into the back room the vet was very sweet and so was the vet tech… I brought in my little kitten and he didn’t flinch or shake at all the entire time he was actually really enjoying it in there and he didn’t want to leave 😂 she gave him treats while he got his shots and he was in heaven, didn’t even notice!

Important Update: 4/1 I received a call from the COO. While the past cannot be corrected, I truly feel that this will never happen again to anyone and that this is a learning experience. My story was listened to and sympathized with. They offered to reimburse my expenses without me having to ask, gave a heartfelt apology and the belief that the SPCA does care about animals. So thank you Mr. Kaviani! I hope that your staff sees how much you care and emulate that.Ruth is a dog that I have been fostering since April 2023. Ruth passed away last night while waiting for the SPCA to figure out if I am fostering her or if I had adopted her. Apparently someone put on my file that I gave verbal consent to adopt. Yet I had to sign a contract to foster. I never gave any kind of consent to adopt her. Actually, I had got tired of having to remind them of that every time I called or went in so I finally stopped checking in with them since it was a waste of my time. No one ever contacted me.Last year I spent over $700 (as a single mom) in vet bills because her health was so bad coming from them, and they weren’t doing any exams just throwing antibiotics at her. So I paid for the vet bills and lucky I did because she was in very poor shape. Lime disease, kennel cough (which the SPCA said she didn’t have but she gave it to my dog too, so yay more vet bills) and a really bad UTI that was impacting her kidneys.Now, fast forward to yesterday. I get home and Ruth is not doing ok. I rush to the animal hospital and then end up going back and forth when I call the emergency # that is on my foster contract. They said they won’t pay, I have to!Whelp, while going back and forth on the phone with the SPCA, explaining how urgent it is that she be seen immediately, Ruth seized and died in my car in the parking lot of the emergency vet. They did call back while she was seizing and I found out while carrying her body into the building. The tone of the conversation changed from this being a “me” problem to it being a real situation they needed to try to deescalate, so they agreed to take care of her body.Brandywine SPCA in Dover, you have forever traumatized myself and my 11 year old son with our very first foster experience. I have typed up a much more detailed letter and plan on sending it and all of my supporting documents to anyone and everyone that will listen, since this is just a brief glimpse into our experience.

A very friendly environment that really cares about the animals they have up for adoption. I went in on numerous occasions and was greeted happily and treated with respect. I ended up adopting Tom, a 21lb cat and couldn't be happier. Definitely would recommend them!

I adopted my boy, Apollo yesterday and he also got neutered. He ended up opening his stitches and when I got to the clinic Angel immediately came and looked and took the extra time and care to ensure that Apollo got the care he needed. I have never been more grateful in my life. Thank all of the SPCA and a shout out for Angel who stayed late. Me and Apollo are forever grateful.

It was a nice, gentle experience for my Cat & myself since it was my first time going back with her, I couldn’t due to Covid at her last Veterinarian. But the technician & Vet were very calm & did great with my Cat. It was a fairly quick appointment but I didn’t feel rushed at all. I would recommend!

At the first glance of this place, I knew that it was for me! When I went inside, there was a lady there to help us. I had just recently sent in my volunteer application and getting to look around and spend time with the animals made me so excited to start! The facility was clean, and the animals were healthy. The staff clearly have a lot of affection for the animals in their care. I'm looking forward to getting involved there! 🐕

I've been here twice in the last week. The 1st visit was to put my cat to sleep. When I got there i was undecided about what i was going to do. They went over what I would need to medically do if I chose to not put her down that day. They were very kind & professional through the whole process which was so appreciated. The 2nd visit was for my other cats ear infection. They answered my 7 million questions. I really appreciated that they didn't make me feel rushed. Also, the wait time to get into an examination room was less than 5 minutes which was awesome. I've been to 5 different vet. hospitals in the area and I have found that Brandywine is by far the best one. Plus, the bills were lower than the other clinics. I recommend them to all animal lovers.

We adopted this beautiful dog 🐶 his name was KING 👑 so we kept that name . He was badly under weight 25 lbs now he’s almost 50lbs and we love 💕 him very much !!!! THANK YOU SPCA FOR BRINGING LOVE ❤️ BACK IN MY HOME 🏠!!! The best place for adopting unwanted lovable furry friends !!!

Unfortunately, the Vet had an early emergency on a Monday morning, so we did not get to ask many questions. First time going there and will attempt to return for next year's Annual check-up. Low on supplies and no Rabies' tags.

If I could give zero stars I would. My roommate and I adopted a puppy from them almost two weeks ago. We took her back last week because we wanted her looked at because she was having discharge after just getting spayed. On the phone they said we could take her in and they will look at it to make sure it was normal. We drove AN HOUR from Newark for us to walk in and them refusing to see her. The ladies at the desk were very rude and didn't care that we seemed concerned. We wanted her to get check to be better safe than sorry. We then took her back for her 2 week wellness check up this week, as stated in the contract. When we called to make an appointment they said we didn't need to make one since we adopted her from there. We drove another hour from Newark for this. Once we got there, the lady at the desk was very rude once again and said we needed an appointment. We said that we got told that we didn't need one on the phone and she proceeded to say no doctors were in and to come back. Every time we call and go in, they are very rude at the AHC and can care less about what we are saying/feeling. Very disappointing. Plan on never returning.
