This is actually going to be a review from a past experience I had at this location's Petco with a rude groomer. The grooming appointment began by the groomer putting a leash around his neck and dragging him into the grooming room by the neck. Our dog has only ever experienced a leash being attached to his harness so this action must have been frightening for him. We could hear him whining while we were shopping in the store, something we've never heard our dog do while being groomed. When the appointment was over, the groomer told us our dog was not behaved, nipped her, and that she must put this on record. We took the criticism seriously and wondered if he needed more training because he has never had any adverse reactions to people before this. We even brought him to a professional groomer thinking our dog had an issue. Eventually, we decided to go to a different Petco, the one located in Lisbon, CT. It was a wonder experience. The groomer there said our dog was well behaved and showed no signs of aggression, as had the other groomer we took him too. I believe the Waterford Petco location needs to work on sensitivity training with their groomers and overall customer service. Being rude does not create a good customer experience. We are decent customers who trained our dog through Petco and to hear such a thing from one person who starts most of her interactions in a rude, demeaning way does not farewell for your business.

The grooming staff here are awful! I have book 5 appointments over the past year, weeks in advance. Each time, the morning of the appointment they call and cancel due to staffing issues. I then have to scramble to find a new groomer, thankfully the PetSmart in new London gets me in everytime! I will be canceling my vital care and no longer going to Petco because this is ridiculous! Thank god for PetSmart

I had my lovely 16 year old hound scrubbed and brushed today by Kelly. She looks and feels like a plush toy! Kelly was great from the moment I met her at the front desk, until I picked up Sara ( my dog). Love her, love the service. Thank you.

Very bad experience. The stylist Shelly, was very unprofessional and seemed annoyed for being there. It was our first time ever at Petco and of course the first grooming session and we were expecting more information about the process, sadly this didn’t happen, they just took our baby and felt like she didn’t wanted to do her job. When we came back to cash out, the other cashiers was rude, I kindly ask if she can see my 20% off because I’m part of the premier club and she didn’t understood me; She got moody and she called the manager which was very unhelpful and ended up getting paid full price when he told us that if we enroll in the Premiership * we will get the 20% . Anyway, bad bad bad. First and last time in this disappointing place.

They have been wonderful with our dog. When he goes he sees and gets his cuts done by Brittany who we have seen for the last couple of years and would be sad if she left and he didn't get his cut by her.

Our beagle, Ren, is extremely dramatic about getting his nails trimmed. He will fake an injury to get out of it. Brittany at the Waterford, CT. Petco was warned and dealt with him accordingly. She was quick and got the job done. My daughter who is his person was very reluctant about trusting anyone with her dog but I could tell that she definitely trusted Brittany. We will be returning to Brittany to get his nails trimmed from now on.

I was greeted upon arrival and told the groomer would be right with me and she was. I then purchased 2 bags of Instinct Raw from the freezer and a large bag of Dogswell Hip and Joint chicken Jerky both of my extremely finicky dogs favorites. I paid with a $5 credit which is wonderful to receive and the groomer was bringing her out to me. I loved the price I was charged, the quickness of the service and how nice and professional the groomer was. She told me the right side of her mouth was a bit sore with the teeth brushing and that I should return in 3 weeks for another nail trim because hers were so long she wants to get them back to where they belong.

Website advertises walk ins for nail trimmings.The appointment function won't let you schedule for just a nail trimming. Got turned away as a walk in because they "don't do walk ins." Was told I should've scheduled over the phone instead of using the website.

OMG Lynda and Shelby did an amazing job on my fur-babies! Its my first time going to Petco Grooming in Waterford... due to the place I normally went to before closing. You can definitely see a HUGE DIFFERENCE in the way they were able to make my pups look their best! It's amazing how much softer their fur is.... the blending of the cut was so much better. Also my female was able to get all 4 of her nails painted. I cannot say enough how pleased I am!!!! Not to mention, both of these ladies were kind, patient, thorough, and very professional and friendly! I seriously started off having a pretty bad day.... and I honestly thought it was going to get worse... but after my experience at Petco today.... it really turned things around. Oh and there was another woman there whos name I didn't catch... she may have been the manager or something. She also was very kind, professional, friendly and welcoming! Honestly, I'm really looking forward to my next visit for my dog grooming needs! 😊

I made that appointment the same day so that was helpful and they greeted me when I came in. They treated my dog well and she looked/smelled good when she returned. The only thing I don't like is having to go through the store to get to the groomer because she interacts with other dogs and does not do well. The price was reasonable too.

They were friendly and quick, and did an excellent job with my dogs nails. I had taken her to a groomer a few weeks ago but they had left her nails jagged and far too long. Petco fixed her right up!

After I got home I noticed my dog’s fur was all choppy. Other family members noticed it too. It looked like the groomer was in a rush. Also my dog didn’t smell fresh and clean so I’m not sure he was bathed very well.

We went in today to get our dog groomed and they denied service. They failed to validate vaccination history that Vetco (within their own building) provided for my dog. They claim that they can’t find the information. I took my service to PetSmart where they were able to validate the same paper work and schedule an appointment that day.

Groomer was extremely good with our puppy and the puppy was very comfortable with her as we were. She was very patient with the puppy as it was just her second trip to the groomers.
