We purchased our baby cockatiel Pepper, from this wonderful place 2 weeks ago. The owner Bob has been very helpful and encouraging throughout the whole process, and is still keeping in touch with us to make sure Pepper is thriving in his new home. We will most definitely come back here, should we decide to increase our flock in the future. Pepper is such a joy, and being a hand-fed baby makes such a huge difference in a companion bird. I would recommend Bob's business to anyone looking for a quality, well-adjusted and cared for new flock member! Here are some pictures of Pepper!

I love Exotic birds store! Bob is an amazing breeder, he has answered every question i've had every step of the way. He takes great care of his birds and his store is most defidently clean. I bought a little baby budgie from him and so glad I've done so. Thank you again Bob! Im so very pleasedUpdate!He is doing amazing! He is fully flighted and very happy. He mimics our kissing noises and even our Grey's contact call 😂 Bob has even remained helpful throughout Bedda (baby budgie's) first moult. He had a couple blood feathers and Bob taught me how to take care of it 😊Update 2-He is still doing great! He turned 2 years old this past December. He is a small but healthy baby! When it is time for me to add another feathered baby to the family I wont hesitate to see Bob. I also recommended Bon to one of my Aunts who is thinking about getting a Budgie. Maybe Bedda will have a friend in the future! (I also added a few new photos).

We recently went here just to look and ended up purchasing a 10 month old Conure hybrid. The prices are really reasonable and he also offers layaway. He is very knowledgeable about all of his birds. He hand feeds all his babies and parents are on site as well. Very nice guy and you can tell he just wants his birds to go to good homes. He even checks up on the babies for the first few weeks and has a health guarantee. He doesn't have many large parrots but he has a large selection of small birds and also some older large birds as well, he rehomes as well as breeds. The only problem was the fruit flies in the store but honestly with that many birds that all get fresh food daily it's to be expected in the summertime. It's a one man business from what it looks like so I'm sure it's a lot of work to keep it spotless enough for the flies to stay away. Overall I had a great experience and loved going there and talking with all the birds.

Bob is incredibly knowledgeable about birds of every breed. My wife and I just purchased a Green Cheek Conure and he's perfect.Bob took the time to ween the bird off of his hand feeding regiment and teach him to eat on his own before we brought him home. That made the process very smooth.The store is filled with birds/parrots of many breeds - parakeets, parrolettes, conures (multiple kinds), ring neck parrots and more. Bob will let you hold them to see if there's a connection.On top of that, Bob's a nice guy. That always makes the buying process easier.We highly recommend this store of you're considering buying a bird/parrot.

Bob is awesome! He knows his birds. I just purchase my second little baby (Indian Ringneck Parrot). He is very loving with his birds, and takes good care of them. Everytime I come in, he is always welcoming and is very knowledgable about the types of birds he owns and how to properly care and handle them. He always makes sure that not only the customer is comfortable but also his birds he is handling is as well, to ensure that bonds do get established before it's time to go to their forever home.

I purchased a green cheek conure from Bob a few weeks ago. Bob is a bit pricey on his birds but i can ensure you that when you buy from Bob, you’re getting a good bird and the price is worth it. At first i was sort of skeptical on my new bird. My bird bit me at first and seemed very scared of me but after a few days of having him home, he let me pet him!! it’s been a few weeks and now my bird is even begging to come out of his cage to come hang out with me. Bob really cares about his birds and even provided me with handwritten feeding instructions. He also had me call him the day after purchasing my bird to let him know how my new bird was eating and that everything was going okay with him. Regarding the negative reviews i’ve read here, I can agree that Bob’s store isn’t the cleanest, but i can understand how much work it must be to keep up with all the birds in the store, so i wouldn’t expect the store to be all that clean. Birds are messy! Besides that, I am very happy with the bird i purchased from Bob.

Excellent service. I am so happy with my Lutino Cockatiel. 😍 Patience is key, the baby bird will not go home with you until Bob is sure that the bird is ready to go home. On the other hand, Bob will allow you to visit your bird. It was a great experience for me and my husband. I would 100% recommend.

Bob Hemingway was very helpful with our baby blue conure, my whole family highly recommends him. The store is a bit loud and has a smell that a lot of birds live there, but he cleans and keeps them very healthy. He had over 2 decades (three?) of breeding experience. He was very kind and professional throughly the process of visiting, choosing a bird, weaning, and teaching home solid food feeding. I felt much more secure working with someone local who I k ew than going through an online site.

This store is absolutely filthy and heartbreaking. I left the store in tears seeing how depressed the birds are and how they are reaching out, yet they are terrified of people. The babies are stuck in plastic boxes with only substrate on the bottom, no toys and no perches. They are cowering in the corner with their heads down. I wish I could save them all.I understand the babies are separate and in bins by themselves. When there’s more than one, that’s fine, but there was one little soul that was just so depressed in the corner of his plastic box. I had to turn around and leave at that point. Why aren’t the boxes clear?Clean up all of the bird poo! There was even poo on the walls! It’s stinks in that store and can’t be healthy for the birds or humans!This person should not be in business, these birds are just products to him, obviously. I will do everything I can to get the word out about my opinion of this store.

For the first time our family bought a hand feed bird it is totally different experience than buying a bird from a pet store. Bob’s communication was amazing. He answered all of our questions and is truly a master of his craft! We ended up buying 3 birds from him and we couldn’t be happier. I totally recommend this place and would be more than happy to get more in the near future. 😃

Robert seems knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had. Guy has his whole wall lined with hundreds of books with 30 plus years of doing this, seems more knowledgeable then the people at Petco I was at across the street. Didn’t buy anything today but I have my eye on a baby ringneck parakeet. The bird in the photo below is not for sale but a good example of what they grow to look like.

A few months ago, my mom and I were looking to adopt a baby parrotlet and came across Exotic Birds By Windsong. I contacted Bob the owner and he was more than helpful and insightful and answered all of our questions. We are now proud owners of a blue and white pied parrotlet and couldn’t be happier! To say the very least, Bob is an amazing breeder and has made our experience very smooth and easy…we highly recommend using Bob if you are interested in adopting.

I recently purchased a beautiful bird from Bob at Windsong. My experience was absolutely wonderful. He is knowledgeable and personable and he truly cares deeply about the birds he raises and keeps! My bird was well socialized and Bob was positive and encouraging and wanted to make sure we picked the exact bird to fit into our family. His prices are very reasonable, especially for hand raised birds! He never lets a bird leave his shop until he is sure the bird AND the owner are ready. My only complaint would be I wish he kept the place cleaner and it would also be better if he sold cages and accessories.

I have been bringing my Dusky Conure to Bob for grooming and boarding for many years. Bob has been nothing but friendly, kind and thoroughly professional. My little bird is 23 years old and has had the opportunity to board elsewhere and I can say with certainty, she receives the best care from Bob hands down. She has come home as clean and healthy after every visit to Exotic Birds. Bob is tremendously accommodating, if you have any special requests for your bird, which says a lot for him not just as a businessman, but as a good person.

Honestly I don’t know where to start, I came in just to look around since I won’t be getting a bird for a couple years. And this store was a complete mess and by the past reviews (six years ago even) he has not efficiently cleaned his store. Not only that but birds are very sensitive to dust and will get sick very easily. I find it repulsive how long he has kept his senior (non sellable) parrots in these conditions. There were hundreds of flies all in the parrots food and in their bottom trays. I doubt any of his birds ever got any vet care I do not advise anyone to get a parrot from him until that place. The owner says he is very knowledgeable about parrots but if was he would know how to take care of them.

I just got my Cockatiels today and honestly? Very satisfied with my purchase. I was given two lovely babies that I know I'll be able to bond with someday.The owner is really nice too, understanding, and overall gave me at a really fair price, the best I've seen so far. And knowledgeable. I'm someone who knows a few things, but he knew so much more that someone like me didnt know, he's very helpful and is willing to help me even after our transaction.I've seen some people rate him lowly because of how some of the cages look and some of the flies, but that overall isnt an issue. He doesnt want to mess with them too much and not only that, but he is definitely raising some healthy birds, would recommend if you're looking to get some birds such as Cockatiels, Parakeets, and even some cute Indian Ringnecks.

We took our 16 yr old Alexandrine parrot here for grooming in April. Bob did a very nice job and handled her well. We also got our baby cockatiel from him May 1st. He marked our birds foot and wrote it down, so there was no confusion as to which one was ours when it came time to pick him up. He gave us updates on our cockatiel while he was being weaned and when it was time to take him home, bob made sure to give us thorough instructions on how to care for him. He always answers his texts with any questions we have had and he’s very helpful. He really does care about his birds. We have taken the cockatiel back to him to make sure he was a good weight, which he gladly checked him over for us. Most recently, the cockatiel injured his foot and bob responded quickly to our text and offered to look him over. He reassured us and gave good advice. Thank you for our happy healthy cockatiel.

My 10 year old is very interested in getting a pet bird, so after some research we stopped in to Exotic Birds to have a look around and learn more. Bob was more than helpful, taking time to answer all our questions. We are still learning but all the birds seem happy and healthy to us and it was a pleasure to speak with him and feel welcome to observe all the birds as long as we wanted with no pressure. We learned a lot and got to interact with and pet a few birds too. No decision yet but looking forward to visiting again and learning more from his expertise of 40 years working with exotic birds.

Back on Dec 31, 2021, I lost my beloved cockatiel of 18 years. In January my boyfriend and I visited Exoctic Birds by Windsong and the wonderful owner, Robert Hemmingway. From the first time that I made a phone call, visited this establishment a number of times before purchasing my beautiful cockatiel, Mr. Hemmingway was extremely knowledgeable, kind, patient & you could see very dedicated to his birds.
