Switched to Moodus after Dr. Crosby was recommended for surgery that required precision — a blockage in our 18lb Boston's seriously tiny duodenum. She's now sees all of our dogs: Said Boston, deaf Boxer and Vizsla.We appreciate that she addresses all questions and concerns with respect; takes the overall health and lifestyle of each animal into consideration before doling out medication and vaccinations; and presents all options for treatment, provides her recommendation and ultimately honors our decisions.She's also referred us to specialists when treatment was outside her expertise or beyond the capability of the practice (risky dental surgery, 24-hour monitoring..).Stephen Crosby is anesthesiologist and vet tech (and husband) at Moodus. Given the nature of his work you don't get to see the big stuff in action, but we have a lot of face time as he assists with every other aspect of support. He's just about the warmest person you'll meet and even puts our dogs at ease :]If you're not swayed by anecdotal evidence, both have pretty stellar credentials as well.It's been a few years of mostly routine check-ups since our first meeting, but that little Boston is determined to keep us on a rollercoaster ride... We're now going through treatment for IMHA. It's a terrifying condition with a high mortality rate. Our pup was life-threateningly anemic when we brought her in and, just weeks later, is thriving on the long road to recovery.Before we moved to the area, we'd make the less-than-convenient trek from Hamden and it's been worth it. We're continually satisfied with the competence or compassion they demonstrate.

Drove a while to get to them since we had a dire medical emergency that nobody else would help with. Saved my cats life. My cat is like a son to me so the care and kindness they showed me and him cannot be overstated. Very helpful and happy to answer any questions. Even though the drive is long for me, I definitely plan to return as I feel the care they provide is the best in the state. Thank you both for everything!

Dr. Crosby always takes such good care of our two kitties, Chase and Fluffy. They explain to us what procedures they think are necessary and why, as well as the cost. For owners like myself who are on a tight budget, they offer cheaper alternatives if what they’re suggesting is on the expensive side. A really great place for all your animals, you’ll be very happy if you decide to switch to Moodus veterinary practice.

This doctor and tech/wife & husband team are so thorough and so caring. Very comfortable office, feels like your in the living room of a friend's home. Both of my dogs just loved them. I have a dog that is very timid around the doctor & hates to be examined in any way. They were so good to him, he almost didn't even notice he was vaccinated.

Owners are husband and wife. Wonderful dynamic. My dog was comfortable being there since it is a house and not clinic atmosphere. We moved to CT from TX and they had everything transferred with a quick call. We got set up with tick treatment and I look forward to bringing my puppy for his check up in August.

Never have I felt more comfortable and understood by a veterinary practice than I have with Dr. Ana and Stephen. My family and I are new to this practice as we just got our dog a couple of months ago. The doctors Crosby are two of the nicest people I have ever met, to people and animals alike. I take all of my animals to them, from cats to rats, and I know I can always expect the best care. Anna and Stephen are respectful and kind, and they always explain every aspect of my animal's care, making sure I understand my options and helping me make the best choices for my budget and my pet. We switched to Moodus Vet @ 6-7 months ago and wish we had switched sooner. Dr. Anna is amazing both in her capabilities as a diagnostician AND in the manner in which she interacts with our dogs and with us. Andrea and Stephen are wonderful as well and have a ton of experience/knowledge and great "bedside manner" with the pets. We have 4 dogs, including 2 seniors, and so we are interacting with them a lot. They always take the time to answer questions and do prompt follow-through. One of our special needs dogs is very nervous around strangers, but they are so good with him that he doesn't react in the manner he does with many others. I can't say enough about how thrilled we are to have a practice with this much heart and capability so close to home.

I live less than a mile from one of the busiest practices in the area and had always brought my cats there. The “you get what you get and you don’t get upset” scheduling began to bum me out, as well as the vibe that my cats were just another chart, so I followed a friend’s advice and tried this practice for their annual visits. What a revelation! They were thorough and answered all of our questions, did not rush us one bit, and gave us plenty of information about bloodwork, dental care, etc., and even trimmed the cats’ nails for free. It is worth driving a little further for this kind of attentiveness, and their credentials are top-notch.

We recently found ourselves in a situation that pet owners dread, the serious illness or injury of our beloved pet. Our five year old dog Stella was in need of life saving surgery. My first experience was very stressful having being given a staggering estimate and told it was firm and for me completely out of reach. A young woman told me about a veterinarian Dr. Anna Crosby and her husband Stephen Crosby a veterinary technician specialist operating the Moodus Veterinary Practice. After a telephone call I was told to bring Stella to them and they would look at her.From the moment I entered the clinic I knew I had made the right decision. It felt like we had walked into the living room of someone’s home and I was immediately assured by client’s in the waiting area that my dog was in the very best hands. I met with Anna Crosby and Stephen who I immediately knew cared about Stella and handled her the same gentle caring way I would. Stella did need surgery and I was given detailed information about the surgery, anesthesia and recovery. I never felt that any recommendation was based on finances, but on what was medically necessary for Stella. Stella was very ill and ended up having two major surgeries, but in both instances I had a clear understanding of what we were dealing with and absolute and complete confidence in Anna Crosby to make the same decisions for Stella that I would and I sincerely believe if not for the incredible skill of Anna and Stephen Crosby Stella‘s surgery would have had a much different outcome.Having had to deal with a serious medical situation with Stella for the first time has made me realize how much support I needed and was provided by Anna and Stephen Crosby. I felt completely comfortable calling to ask questions and get updates never feeling I was being rushed or not being taken seriously. I have never had a more positive experience with veterinary care and I have owned dogs my entire life.Stella and I have had to return for follow up and I marvel at how she bounds up the ramp and through the front door as if she was going with us to visit friends, but as dogs do she recognizes and embraces kindness and has found it with Anna and Stephen Crosby.Moodus is a drive for us, but one that I will happily make for Stella’s ‘future care and I am forever grateful to that young woman who told me to call these wonderfully skilled and compassionate people.

If you are looking for personal, attentive care from honest, passionate people, Moodus Veterinary Practice is for you. I was not satisfied with the "production"style of care at bigger veterinary hospitals where my dog was treated like "just another dog". Stephen and Anna take the time to explain the medical reasoning behind every test, vaccination, and procedure, and even discuss the costs for them to allow you to make the most informed decision. I am so thankful we found them.

Highly recommend this veterinary practice!!! They successfully spayed our cat Beaver, against all odds with her preexisting 5/6 VSD murmur! She’s home and happily recovering thanks to them! I honestly believe no other vet would have had the same successful outcome!

The lead vet has a doctorate in animal medicine and worked in residency as well. Her knowledge definitely shows. Cannot recommend this place more.

This is by far the best vet practice around! True to the core animal lovers, along with answering any question I have in great detail WITHOUT being in a rush. Prices are very fair, much more reasonable than the other Vets in the area. Dr Ana and Stephen are amazing if you want your pets in the best hands for surgery or for check ups. Go to Moodus Veterinary Practice. All of my friends and family have switched from the assembly line-vet in Colchester (no compassion, just about getting you in and out quickly for that almighty dollar) to this smaller family-oriented vet practice. Finally, even my dogs Stella and Bosco wag their tails while walking into this place. Dogs know best.
