Went for a 2 night getaway and to do some local hiking. Overall a great experience and nice quiet stay surrounded by nature. The big window was great for watching the sunset. I wish the hot water tank lasted a little longer, make sure your shower is quick! It was our first time in a tiny home, so certainly more cramped with us and a dog then we are used to, but fine for a short stay.

The cabins are beautiful. The perfect getaway for those from NYC & Long Island. We stood 2 nights and the staff was quick to respond to all of our requests. We were running a bit behind the morning of our check out and the staff was very courteous and allowed us an extra 20-30 minutes to finish up. Cabins are stocked with basic essentials (utensils, oil, pot, pan, coffee pot, plates, bowls, cups, mugs, cutting board, scissors, tongs, creamer, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash). We arrived just after it had snowed (which made the ground icy & slippery) and just before heavy rain (which made it muddy) so I suggest bringing proper boots. Food in the area is good but limited so I definitely recommend bringing groceries for meals if staying 2+ nights. We brought a cooler for larger items but the mini fridge does have space for lots of small things and one liter sized bottle. My only real complaint would be the hot water reserve. Even during quick showers the hot water would run out before we could finish, but not a major issue. Overall the experience was amazing and I’d definitely love to go again on a warm summer day.

My bf and I had no issue checking in, all of the information needed for our stay was provided via text which is great. We didn’t have to check in at a desk or anything like that which I appreciated. The cabin was beautiful, clean, well supplied, it included pots, towels, dish soap, body wash, cups, and mugs, A Bluetooth radio which was great. hot water, garbage bags etc. I think 1-2 nights is more than enough time to take in this beautiful space. Would definitely come here again. A great getaway.

Having a place to disconnect that is dog friendly and family friendly is the ideal trip. But when you are promised a getaway in the woods and sitting around a fire pit watching the stars with your family and dogs and this does not happen it is truely disappointing.First when we arrived the entire area was flooded. When I say flooded the wall that was suppose to keep the water out didn’t and the pit chairs and stairs to the cabin was deep in water. The whole walk up to the cabin was muddy and flooding we had to carry the dogs and our daughter with our stuff to not get them muddy. Maybe it’s me but I also brought Lysol wipes and cleaned the cabin as it was not cleaned and hair, dirt and crumbes was in and around the beds.We asked for help from the staff and even though they were nice all they could do was move the chairs and offer us free wood. During the day I had contacted them multiple times and they did not show up late into our second day. What we did on the Sunday of our last day being there we created a drainage because enough was enough with the flood, blocked off as much as we could with logs so we can enter our cabin and created a path for our family to not slip and kill ourself we going in and out.Is the cabin worth its hype? No it is not. Yes it has a beautiful window looking into the woods. But it is overpriced not secluded and every item from a bottle of water to a fire starter is overpriced. No only are you paying for the 200 sq room but they’re all these extra charges that are not mentioned on their website.I love places that are dog friendly the staff was nice but not being able to enjoy your space you over pay for you might as well stay in a hotel room.Photo is after we worked on draining the water and moving items to have a little bit of water free space. Oh on the plus side they give you a $25 refund and $25 for future spend which we will not be using and will be letting the dog community not to bother here.Walkability: NoneFood & drinks: NoneNoteworthy details: Staff was nice

Just recently spent a couple of days here and was disappointed with the experience.I decided to stay here as my options were limited for a nice getaway within driving distance of NYC that allowed dogs. Had always seen the ads on Instagram, so decided to spend nearly $700 on a 2 night stay for me, my wife, and my dog with the outdoor suite and firestarter kit.The firestarter kit really left a sour taste in my mouth. It includes 2 firestarter bundles and a bundle of logs and costs $25. You actually get a better deal if you don't buy until you arrive as those same items would cost just $14. Being charged $11 extra because I pre-ordered is terrible service. When I voiced my confusion, they "apologized for the confusion." If you plan to use the campfire, just make sure not to buy the firestarter kit.It had snowed a week or two prior but had not melted. However, the steps down the steep hill to the cabin from where you can park your car were not shoveled or salted, just some light dirt. Multiple times, we almost fell. The nearest bridge also closes during the night, and as we were coming in later in the day, we had to make a 30-minute detour to get in. While this is obviously not their fault, a quick message or email to let passengers know would help - seeing as apparently this bridge issue has been going on since December.Lastly, there is barely any hot water. They do have signs about this, but it was literally about 5 minutes of hot water before running outThe highlights, however, were the cabin was clean, nice, and remote. The view from the giant window was great, and we loved the peace it provided. The firepit was well maintained, and they had a small nearby gated dog run that allowed us to give our dog a chance to walk around off leash. The experience was okay, and a little extra care from their support team would've turned this from a 2 star to a 4 or even a 5 star.

I have to say, I am disappointed at the cleanliness of our cabin given the expensive cost to stay here. Upon arrival, there were many hand prints and finger prints on the window, dirt/sand was on the floor, trash was along the exterior of the cabin, and there was some food left in the sink that was clearly not cleaned. I am not a high maintenance individual by any means but to be paying Almost $300.00 a night I expected a clean, ready-to-go cabin, not one I’d be cleaning for my first hour while here. Also for the price, it’s surprising to see that everything has a charge. $5.00 bag to make 2 s’mores when again, I paid almost $300.00 a night and was able to get supplies for $10.00 to make at least 20.With the cons aside, I have to say that so far it has been a very nice peaceful weekend to just lay low, be with my partner, and enjoy each others presence. The cabin design is simple, cozy, and beautiful. Also love the big window that looks into the woods and brings in lots of natural light throughout the day.Overall, I personally do not think that for the price it is worth to stay here again as there are many airbnb rentals that are within the same price range, scenic area, and offered much more. If you choose to stay here I hope you have a more positive experience and get to really enjoy the potential these cabins have.

Its definitely not worth the money . Really small small room . It was not clean first of all. Found a lot of Hair. Hair in the fridge , around the bed. It is disappointing they couldnt clean a small room of 200sqft. Hot water only comes for 5 minutes and then takes 30 minutes for the next hot water. Paying more than 300 bucks and feeling like you're surviving is not worth the hype. They charge you for every little thing after paying good money. For coffee , tea , for the fire . Its ridiculous. you're not really in a secluded area too.

THEY WILL STEAL YOUR THINGS. came here with my boyfriend for a 2-night getaway, their little store was closed which was a bummer. we got groceries and cooked and made sure to leave everything spotless to make it easier on the cleaning crew. about 30 minutes after checkout, i realized i left my coat in the cabin and contacted their staff immediately. they do not have staff at each location which is wild, i had to go through corporate, my coat was not lost, it was left in the cabin, and after 3 weeks, they told me there was nothing they could do. i know someone saw a max mara coat and decided to keep it for themselves. they changed their lost and found policy a week after i notified them. complete disregard for their guests and there is NO SECURITY OR STAFF TO HELP. i’m sure if i was an influencer staying there my experience would have been so different and they would have gone out of their way to help. shame.

I booked a little Getaway trip for me, my mom, and my dog, and it was amazing. The cabin was cozy and private, and of course had a great view of the fall foliage. It was clean and came with all the kitchenware and utensils we needed. Unfortunately, it was raining during our stay so we only got to use the campfire once. But we had a great time cooking and making s'mores. We got the two-bed cabin, so we had bunked queen beds - this obstructed the window, so we will definitely be getting a one-bed cabin next time. The top bed was also really close to the ceiling, so it's probably better suited for children to sleep up there. The cabin overall is a very small space, but perfect for two people or a family with small children. Each cabin also comes with an outdoor patio, with plenty of open space.Getaway is dog friendly, my pupper had a wonderful time. The cabin even came with treats for her, a dog bowl, and small towels to wipe her paws. The outdoor bench had a long leash, which came in handy. We went hiking at Devil's Hopyard State Park (about 20min away) and Wadsworth Falls State Park (about 30min away). The Machimoodus location also has a nature path trail and dog run on site. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We had some trouble getting the campfire started, but I was able to reach out via text and a staff member quickly delivered a fresh, dry bundle of wood.We loved our stay at Getaway and will definitely be returning or trying one of the Catskills locations.Rooms: The cabin was really small, but came with everything we needed for a cozy getaway. Cabins come with one or two (bunked) queen beds, a kitchenette, bathroom, and outdoor patio.Nearby activities: There are many state parks in the area, we went to Devil's Hopyard and Wadsworth Falls. Both about 20-30 minutes away and dog-friendly.Noteworthy details: Dog-friendly, private cabins with plenty of space between neighbors, great view, amazing staff. Getaway Packs are really worth, you can get three nights for $400 (weekdays) or $450 (weekends)

I really enjoyed my experience at this outpost, the town of Moodus is quite quaint so it really set the stage for a peaceful couple of days.Getting to the cabins is very clear, there’s signage to help you along and make sure you’re going the right way on the one way road. Getting in with the code was easy, I was greeted with a handwritten note (Jessica, your penmanship is really pretty and thank you for the birthday wishes). The huge window is spectacular, it really brings the outside indoors. The place was clean, the bed was comfortable (firm but not too hard) and the cabins are perfectly spaced to give everyone privacy. My only gripe are the amount of ants I had to kill. During my two night stay I must have killed at least 50 ants. I think supplying a natural repellent like peppermint oil would be great , I plan to bring some for my next stay. If the ants were just under the sink where the trash is it wouldn’t be worth mentioning but they were by the windows, the floor… you get it.All in all, I had a great time. I love that Getaway encourages quiet and unplugging in the literature provided when you arrive. I’m looking forward to returning to this outpost and maybe others in the future.

Our stay at getaway was part of a company retreat. The staff was very helpful & the group set up was perfect. Thanks for having us and the rest of our F9 crew. Our only criticism would be the lack of recycling made us a bit sad (thus the four stars for service). The cabins are truly special and the property makes a great backdrop for adventures and memories.

To start with the positives, the cabin was very clean and well-stocked with essentials. Firewood and firestarters were easily accessible. Unfortunately we were placed in the first cabin so we weren't even inside the woods. There was no privacy in this location and our view was of the road where all of the cars would come in and out of. When asked for a cabin change, we were told it could not be accommodated. Though we had booked 2 nights, we ended up leaving after the first since we were so disappointed with where we were placed. Unless there is an option to choose the cabin you are in, I would not consider doing this again.

The beds were so clean and smelled nice!I brought my three dogs and the people gave us towels, extra water, and treats for the dog! So nice! And there was a dog playpen, like wow! The campfire was nice, and there were nice, long, hot showers with many towels. I 100% recommend. Just remember to bring bug spray.

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and we were very happy with our experience! Beautiful setting and the cabins are spaced apart so it’s very quiet and peaceful. The cabins are well thought out and cozy. However, I cannot give it 5 stars for the fact that our mattress was very hard. It feels like more of a mat than a mattress and that was a little disappointing. Hopefully, this is something that will be addressed soon, maybe adding a soft mattress pad. Other than that, we were very happy with our stay and will be booking another cabin in the near future!

Hands down the most amazing thing we have done! Our cabin was spotless, cozy, quiet, and we could just tell that no corners were cut. The customer service was by far one of the best expirences I've ever had in my 40 years of life with any staff or company period. The location was quiet, unique, peaceful and convenient. This 2 night stay we signed up for turned out to be everything we didn't know we needed. I highly recommend this getaway.. if it be solo, a couple, or with the family or friends everyone must do this at least once in their life! We will be returning as often as our busy lives allow us and if our busy lives don't allow us then we will just take our time to return. I never leave reviews because if I don't have anything nice to say then I don't say anything at all. In this case I am overloaded with happiness for our experience.

Getaway Machimoodus provides a peaceful and secluded retreat for those seeking a break from the city. The cabins are well-equipped with basic amenities and offer stunning views of the surrounding wilderness. Not to mention the cabin is very clean! Guests can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities in the nearby state parks or simply relax and unwind in the tranquility of their cabin. Overall, Getaway Machimoodus is a great option for those looking to disconnect and recharge in nature. The only thing we didn’t like about the cabin was the size of cabin, its very tiny and I would not recommend being a pet especially big dog.

Wonderful getaway from Nyc/Nj. Took us about 2.5 hrs from Jersey city to reach here. The cabins are pretty much self sufficient. We went in winter and the heater worked pretty well. Has hot water, shower and washroom inside the cabinet. Great place to try out your drones as well.We were absolutely thrilled to see a personal note from Jessica wishing us on our anniversary. Cant wait to try out other locations as well.

If you are coming from nyc/Long Island - STAY AT THIS LOCATION IT WAS AWESOME! It was a 2 hour drive from queens with no traffic compared to the one in upstate NY. Although there isn’t much to do around this place like the one upstate(which is the point) this place is brand new and the cabin was beautiful. The one upstate is just as nice but I guess having a quicker smoother drive to CT made it more relaxing. After working non stop for the last 2 months since my dad suddenly passed, this was honestly the perfect break and mini vacation I needed. I will say there were a lot of people there for a Thursday into Friday but you never heard anyone no one bothered you. I was able to sit by the fire pit and just unwind with my wife. Definitely hit up this location if you want an easier faster drive! Can’t wait to come back!

We visited the NH location last year and had a wonderful time so as soon as we heard there was a CT location opening up we were excited to try it out. We were not disappointed. The location is quiet and the cabin comfortable. The cabins in NH are larger but it was nice to stay in a brand new place. We loved the nature trail and had fun finding all the gnomes :)

Awesome experience! This was our third experience with Getaway House and our first at this location and it was an overall great experience. Clean, quiet, and peaceful environment. Customer service is always exceptional with Getaway House, all of our needs were attended to and questions were answered immediately. We also explored some nearby towns where we found friendly locals and lots to do. Definitely recommend this location for a little escape from NYC.

First time here and the experience was amazing. we got two next to each other. Adrienne and agu. They were about 20 feet apart. Love the fire pit and chairs. Everything was perfect, the bunk bed, the kitchen, and the bathroom. Toilet and standing shower. Pots, pans, dishes, utensils and stove lighter you name it it's there. Also they have fire wood in a container next to the fire pit if needed. Certain things are extra like the firewood and coffee but that's normal, good price.

We unfortunately encountered an overbooked situation but it was fixed with the team! We have been going to Getaway for 2 years and it’s awesome to see that customer service is still great and every experience amazing. Thank you for not letting us miss out on our trip.

Stayed in the Benny cabin which was a great location, on an offshoot road that only had 2 other cabins. It felt more secluded and private than most of the cabins on the loop. Also fun to walk on the nature path!

I was disappointed in the response to a malfunctioning fridge in our cabin. They did eventually come by and at first dismiss my concern, but then when I pointed out the built-up ice blocking the vent they tried to chip away at it with a knife. But they didn't actually clear it so I then went to town with the kitchen knife to clear the buildup. I fixed the fridge to effectively cool down all the groceries I had went out and bought...but with what you pay for Getaway I definitely expected better. Thankful I didn't injure myself due to their incompetence.

Actually quite disappointing. We went to the NH one and the cabin was much bigger and the cost was lesser. Here the space was smaller and the cost was higher. The spot is high up and so we had to carry all the stuff up and could not bring the car all the way. For people in Boston NH might be a better option than CT. Last time the smores were free. This time we had to pay for it.
