Nice little food store, located very near the bridge of old east haddam. Conveniently located. Prices are a bit higher than the big grocers, as expected. Vegetables and fruit selection are not very good.Right next to a beer store.

Ordered a bunch of their sweet Italian sausage and it was great. Nice big sausages (for sausages, onions and peppers) with lots of seasoning. Great flavor! Order was ready when I had scheduled the pickup.

I had a really hard time with what I should rate this store at. It's a love hate relationship. I'll just start out with the main dislike, the prices. It is so expensive every time I stop here. Staples like milk, butter, eggs, bread are astronomical in price. If I know that I just need a staple like i mentioned above, I'll stop next door at Dollar General.However, their meat and seafood department is amazing quality with pretty comparable pricing. I've never had any meat or seafood that wasn't fresh!They just did some rearranging so they could hold more frozen items which is nice!Lastly every single worker I've encountered has been nothing less than amazing.

This is our favorite place to shop! They have Colds Springs farm fresh eggs and the BEST butcher and deli!! Their grass-fed beef is amazing. Everyone is always on kind too. We shop here every week.

Really like this store...Adams.Some shelves are a little bare, but the virus rules make some supplies hard to keep in stock.Meat department is excellent...stuffed mushrooms and stuffed pork chops..out of this world, and butchers are really nice guys.

I have to question the validity of these reviews after witnessing some disturbing things at River Valley Provision Store at 95 Bridge Rd, Haddam, CT 06438. As I was getting out of my car a young woman was calling to a Keith (I remember the name because she called repeatedly) who was outside having a cigarette and drinking alcohol. I just thought it was her boyfriend or husband. I entered the store, which is poorly lit, and started through looking at very small selections of fresh items. I made my way back to the meat/deli counter and was so disappointed to hear the language and topic of conversation. Very inappropriate. Then I saw the “Keith” working there. That did it for me, I left my little basket and walked out of the store. Haddam is such a nice little area, but I will not recommend staying there as this seems to be the only place close to do your grocery shopping. I guess when you think you are the only game in town you can do whatever you please without consequence.

Recently we had an event for 50 people and the food was provided by RVP. The food was amazing - grilled salmon, grilled steak and grilled chicken. Served with broccoli salad, lemon orzo salad, German potato salad and grilled vegetables. We got so many compliments from our quests and best of all we didn’t have to do any of the cooking. We love this place.

Their meat and fish are always fresh. When I want fresh delicious looking fish Im always confident getting it from them. Staff is always friendly and very helpful answering my questions and helping with recipe ideas happily going out of their way. Sadly produce is always lacking and never fresh. Always looks bruised, misshapen or past it's freshness. Bit pricey but location is convenient for me.

Love this market! Great fresh soups and chowders daily along with hot, steam table buffet of delicious, fresh, prepared foods. Superb deli and seafood counter. A little pricey, but excellent quality products. Has everything you need.

We stop and get the sandwiches occasionally on the way to the river. They are so good, all the ingredients are always so fresh and they pile the meat high almost like a nyc deli. Their prices are fair too. If I had one complaint it’s that it can be slow but just call ahead if you’re in a rush, they make them with care.

5 Stars for River Valley Provisions...the owners are making ever effort to have a differential to their food / market / specialty / butchery / local produce / fresh homemade items and more, in addition to the more conventional grocery store selections. Staff is friendly and beyond helpful. Spotless, good lighting, generous aisle widths and departments are intelligently laid out with perfect product / department adjacencies. A few of my favorite items - artisan breads - freshly baked, the edaname and recently added pork dumplings, homemade meatloaf and the macaroni and tuna fish pasta dish. This trip I discovered scratch cookies with cranberries and white chocolate chunks - heaven ! I must spend more time my next visit to River Valley Provisions...i am certain I will discover other delectable items...keep up the good work!!!

Deli, prepared foods, and meat is the best in CRV. Great selection of fresh seafood too. Quite a few frozen vegetarian items carried, for a small grocer. They also sell Albert's fresh baked bread from Deep River. The beef chili & shrimp scampi are awesome!

Good quality fish and meat at this place. However they do slip up. The piece of swordfish I bought today was an inch thick on one side and paper thin on the other. See photo. Not the way to cut fish. This will be impossible to cook properly.

River Valley catered my mom’s 60th birthday party. The food looked and tasted delicious! We especially enjoyed the delicious grilled chicken with a yummy butter and caper sauce, and the teriyaki salmon! Delish!

Lots of oddball brands and items but dimly lit and a little dirty, I didn't feel comfortable buying food here. Unfortunately for me, this area is a bit of a food desert, and I was fairly starved by later afternoon, and had to wait until I got closer to a highway to find more reliable food establishments.

Price gouging and snotty cashiers. 30 ounce jar of Miracle Whip is $8.79. Done with them. No more. Always a little higher but small local store so a little leeway. This is absolutely ridiculous. Crazy.. Dollar General next door was $3.50. Done.
