I went here for a school trip to write about the animals, and I absolutely loved it. The whole place was cozy and comforting. The animals were so sweet and the staff was so helpful and kind! I greatly recommend coming here, it was an amazing experience!

This place was such a treasure to me, a beloved favorite—until I started noticing racist golliwog dolls being sold. These are pieces that were made specifically to mock and humiliate Black people. I let the counter staff know, since not everyone is aware of the history…only to find that they knew what they were, and said as staff they didn’t have any ability to take them down. Out of human decency, if any management sees this, please remove the golliwogs. The few bucks of profit is not worth the dehumanizing of some of your visitors. I think taking these down will be a low effort and very achievable act of good.Edit: The management responded, and did not seem to understand how difficult it is for people to see dolls mocking their existence. It would be so easy and simple to pull these from the shelves. You are showing your customers you care more about sales than Black comfort. If you want to guarantee them as teaching tools to not forget past, please give them over to a Jim Crow museum. That would surely accomplish it.

This place is incredible fun! I've never seen anything like it before. I came in today with my teenager who loves to thrift and also my 2 year old daughter, they both found some really nice items they wanted. Just very chill cool vibes in here. They have a café as well that smelled wonderful and most importantly an animal rescue. Which is just a super neat combination.

A hidden gem. I went to 6 states antiquing and thrifting and this was by far one of the best, most unique thrift stores I visited. This place is MASSIVE. If I lived on the East Coast, I'd shop here ALL the time. My favorite part was walking through the book section to the antique books room... What an absolute treasure. I found a Poe book that I had been looking for and my day was made. I also scored 1920s black and gold evening flapper dress, string of pearls, and long black gloves for my Halloween costume. Make sure you have plenty of time because this place will take you awhile. :) Can't wait to visit again when I'm back in CT.

Love this place! Excited to donate and purchase here. I love the energy of the blond girl in the coffee shop a lot- the other employees not so much as welcoming but its okay, wasnt there for them.

Fantastic location for a consignment store! You’ll find a wide variety of used clothing, books, housewares, toys, and jewelry inside. There’s also lots of local memorabilia in this 19th century factory. Conveniently located off Route 9 with plenty of parking. So happy to see this historic building given new life!

First some back story, we have a wonderful little dog that we can take anywhere because he is so will behaved. He is small enough to fit into a shopping basket. When we heard about Pandermonium we wanted to go there because we too love and support animals. Before we went for the first time we called and asked if it would be okay to bring Eddie, our little dog, in the store. We were told yes, but were asked to carry him. We complied with this request and Eddie enjoyed the experience on many occassions and never had a problem. This past Friday when my wife went to the store to make a large donnation she was verbally accosted by a male staff member. He told her very rudely that she couldn't carry Eddie in the store. It also should be noted that there is no posting that states that you cannot bring a small dog in the store. It also should be noted that the store has dogs and cats roaming around. My wife contined to shop dispite being bullied by this man and there was no incident that occured with Eddie. The complaint here is how my wife was treated. She is a very generouse woman who loves animals. How she was treated by the staff has led her to the decision that she no longer wants to donate. It would be my hope that the management of the business would not support the unproffesional rudeness of the male staff. It could lead one to conclude that the caring for animals is more self serving and a facade for other motivatinons.

I went for the first time and had high hopes. I went with family and also had my elderly mother with me. She has a walker. The place is not handicap friendly. They have a ramp to get on the first floor but that's about it. She couldn't go down the stairs to the basement. She really went to see the tropical birds but she couldn't do that either because the bird section is in the back and it's on a slope with rough ground so you can't go down there if you have a wheelchair or walker. I told her that we would help her get down there but she was too scared to do it. They need to pave that so the disabled could walk down to that section too. I go to estate sales every week and all the thrift stores. Normally I find lots of great things. This store is filled with junk. Goodwill stores are much better. So my daughter and I walked down to see the birds and they said it was $10 to walk through the little bird section. I told my daughter that I was not going to pay ten bucks to look at the few birds they had in there, and as we were leaving, one of the male workers said "Well then screw you." I didn't say anything back because it wasn't worth it to get into it. He is lucky that I didn't respond to that because the whole state of CT would have heard me. But I kept my temper and just left. If you live far from there, save your gas. There are better places to go.

I stopped by while waiting for a RX at Walgreens! Great Thrift Shop! Be prepared to spend HOURS looking at everything they have and then stop by the quaint Cafe on the lower level for a cup of tea and scones!

After a long day I came in search of the perfect present, I found it and then dropped it! It shattered! The woman was so kind not to charge me and have told everyone I know to shop there. I will never forget her sincere kindness as well as all the unique items! Great place! Get lost for hours in there but remember to hold on tightly to your finds!!

This place is WONDERFUL. The birds are especially remarkable, the whole ambiance is fabulous and the cafe and book area reminds me of similar places in Europe. This is a MUST visit.

The vibe of this entire thrift store is amazing. Bohemian and magical. The whole setup is awesome. They have clothing for adults and children. They have 2 cats Tom and Jerry, theres a basement which among other things(some antique stuff, old glassware etc) has a book section and then beyond that is a living/sitting area for the little Cafe. The Cafe has tea, coffee and pastrys. It's an amazing stop. Plus all the thrift store proceeds go to rescuing animals.Definitely stop in!

I haven’t stopped in yet, but my teenage son went in for the first time with friends he works with and he loved it. He left with a new wallet and pair of shoes and his friends found exactly the dresses they’d hoped to find. We own a business just down the road in Deep River and in Old Saybrook (Ashlawn Outpost & Ashlawn Farm Coffee) and we were unaware until today what treasures can be found at the this thrift store. We will start recommending this place to our tourist customers and local regulars alike. Great to see small businesses thrive, and especially by recycling/reusing.

Very fair prices. A really big selection, from housewares to albums to books to trinkets to clothing..... Many items!!They also support animals in the rainforest, so an overall great cause. They have a cafe where you can sit down and read a book, order a snack or a cup of coffee... Or do all three.I would definitely bring some items back for donation.

A great place to spend a lazy saturday afternoon; I recommend Pandemonium Cafe in the lower level of the thrift store. Good coffee, selection of pastries and sandwiches. Awesome atmosphere with live music, comfy chairs, and tons of old books. It's like sitting in a friend's cozy living room.
